I received 5 minutes of whining about the store not providing this service on Sundays. I received a replacement light set of lesser value, yet I was charged for the original higher priced part and charged labor for both. The checkout was great the check in was not. The employees were complaining about rude customers as they were being pretty inattentive to me. The mileage was about 8k off and they dismissed it completely. I took a picture to prove the discrepancy. Vehicle was filthy in and out. Gas on the checkin was wrong from the vehicle. Opened late, customer service representative that was late that had the keys was more interested in his chicken biscket and latte than waiting on me, talking with his mouth full taking time to take bites of his biscuit or sips of his drinks rather than wait on me. My reservation with number he "could not find" had to redo most of the process, told me truck was up next to the road it was my responsibility to find it basically. I will never rent uhaul again. Also the truck needed front end alignment pulled to the right no fun to have to hold pressure to the left for two hundred miles of highway driving to keep it on the road and the left mirror could not be adjusted left to right and had to use spot mirror to see what was in left lane beside you!Calvin W.

I would recommend being sure the equipment was ready to go and is working properly prior to arrival. A staff member at the desk who is trained in better customer service skills. He was listening to loud rap foul language music while assisting us getting the truck. He was listening to music the entire time on his ear buds as well while checking us in. Staff wasn't professional at all. Did nothing but complain about having to be at work. I asked where my truck was she pointed to lot and said it's out there. I had to walk around till I found it. Made reservation online and the form was not great, so many attempts to upsell and I had to put my drivers license expiration date in multiple times because it wouldn't save and let me submit. Got there and waited in the lobby for 10 minutes while a line started forming behind me. Guy said they might not have a cargo van, and I was wondering why I went through the trouble of reserving if I could show up and might not get what I reserved? Was told I could park my car near the treeline but there were no spots, and half of the spots were taken by their own equipment, so I had to find the van, move it out of the space, then move my car into the van's space. Drivers side mirror was broken and no one said anything to me, I didn't notice till I tried to check my blind spots on the highway. Called the number to report it, it was almost 20 min wait (but she was very helpful). Everyone was friendly enough but the site was confusing, the instructions for pick up and drop off unclear, and the use of space was obnoxious. Wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to get out with the van. Return process was easier (but again, I didn't know I could just leave the keys on the seat and go). I don't remember it being this complicated last time I used your company's services several years ago. Won't recommend but it was fine, just not newbie friendly.Rachel S.

I rented a van and the heater was not working. i called back in but i never could get anyone on the phone. i just continued my trip and after returning the van i rented i spoke with the general manager his response to me was that we was supposed to be off work 30 minutes prior and that i needed to speak with someone at the counter. i don't think that is good customer service, however not answering the phone isn't either. I rent a van from this location on a regular basis to drive to North Carolina to pick up cabinets for jobs im working on and i have never had a problem. at this point i will try another rental company for my next trip.David G.
The truck smelled inside of cigarette smoke. The console was nasty with some sort of liquid all over it. This truck needs serious work. The engine has a misfire when idling. The steering is terrible. Loose and clunky. I did not feel safe driving this vehicle. I felt like any minute something in the front suspension was going to break. The transmission is messed up, would sudden downshift and throw me forward while driving. Again very dangerous. The rear door took a great amount of force to open and close. I've had many U-Hauls and this one is by far the worst I've ever seen. Either the maintenance is being skipped or someone is cutting corners somewhere. I don't think I can use U-Haul again. I'm glad I only needed this for 25 miles.Jason A.

Getting the trailer was a long process. First one was stuck on the tongue of a trailer behind it. Next one had a nail in the tire. The one we ended up with had a tire with a slow leak. The rear door would get stuck in the up position due to a damaged license plate. We did get our destination safely.roger P.

This was a all around great experience. I used U-Haul because there where no rental cars available in Lynchburg. It really helped me out.OTTO H.
From the very beginning, this rental was a total screw up. I reserved the equipment at a local dealer only to be told I will need to drive 1 hour in the opposite direction to pick up the trailer bc the dealership I chose didn't have the equipment. That was not true. I drove past the dealership and there was a trailer sitting there??? On the day of pick-up, we arrived at the location to find an empty building. I called U-Haul and explained that we were standing inside the store and there was no one around. We looked all over the store and finally someone arrived to assist us. It was bizarre! Then the associate walked with us to the equipment and half-ass assisted us in getting it hooked up - not tightening anything down and telling us we were ready to go. Luckily, we stopped about 1/2 mile from the store and realized the equipment was not set property on the hitch. It was a miserable beginning to what should have been a quick and easy pick-up. I doubt I will use U-Haul again especially if I have to drive 1 hour out of my way to use your equipment and then return it (again 1 hour out of my way) back to the original store. As stated, it made for a miserable and stressful beginning to a two day move.Edward M.

The staff were excellent. However, when I rented a 5x8x10 foot unit, we found it to be 5x7x10 - an almost 12% variance - which made it unusable for our purposes. Thankfully, a 5x10x10 was available. It is unacceptable that a unit that should have been perfect was a whole foot smaller than advertised and now we are forced to use a more expensive unit. Had several problems getting into my climate control storage. The security doors sometime would not let me in and when I would go to the front desk to ask someone to help me there was usually no one there and I would have to wait five minutes before somebody else came back in to help me. I also have a climate control storage and there’s a thermometer that says the building is supposed to be in between the two lines during the winter time it got below that why would I be paying for a storage building if you cannot maintain the temperature like you’re supposed to. I canceled my storage building not too long after. U-Haul charged my account on August 1 and I canceled on August 2 and was told that I would not get a refund don’t understand why this is ridiculous what kind of policies do you have. Ben Dooley, the General Managers customer service is awful. I will never use anything UHAUL again. I was out with Covid and in the hospital for a month and got behind on my storage unit payment. He refused to speak with me directly so I could explain my situation. He is not willing to work with you at all and doesn’t care. What kind of GM refuses to speak with a customer. Actual storage unit was fine. Everything else about experience was not. Snow was plowed right in front of the unit so moving out was a slipping hazard. Staff barely explained check in process and acted as if helping us/answering questions was a chore. When we went to move out and stop renting, nothing about reimbursement for partial month was explained—nothing about move out process explained for that matter—and staff member seemed intoxicated. I needed a large unit for storing things for 3 months. There were none to be had. I have rented a 10x10, and an 8x10. I seriously STILL need more space to store 2 beds, end tables, large kitchen table and 12 chairs and kitchen things. Is there any compensation for having to rent another 2 more small units instead of a large 10x30 that I really need??? I don't want my belongings stored at 3 to 4 different Companies.
