The day before pick up I was called by uhaul changing the location because the truck I reserved a week in advance did not exist. When I got to the new location, which added 30+ miles to the trip, they did not have a truck either, none of any size. I then had to go to the actual uhaul store nearby. They also did not have one. They sent me to another uhaul about ten miles across town. Finally at that location, they did not have a 10' truck either, but they did have a 26' truck. So I finally got a truck, but it was more than twice as large as needed, and it about doubled the cost of gas for that trip. I have made the same move several times, and it has never cost so much. Tracking down a truck also delayed my trip by several hours.

Really appreciated the advertisement about moving help available for offload. My son injured his back while loading. We needed help for the offload so we booked thru UHaul. Lifesaver!

When you give a 12 pm Friday pick up time do not say the time is 5 and that you do not go by that time given. I did have to have the truck I took back by 7am Saturday for another family pick up.

Clerks attitudes should be friendlier. I felt I was imposing on their day when I needed to purchase a lock for the truck. I truly considered not waiting for transaction to occur since I handed them enough cash for purchase but was waiting on truck to be pulled around. They also did not walk me around truck for dents, etc. and thought it odd that I insisted.

I was supposed to be able to show up and get my truck through remote check in at 6:45. The bar code would not scan and there wasn't anyone available to help. I had to wait in line for them to open and when they opened at 7:00, they only had one person waiting on customers. While waiting in line, multiple employees came in and went straight to the back without any of them offering to come to the counter and help with the 10 or so customers waiting in line. When I finally made it to the front of the line to get my truck ( which I was supposed to get without standing in line) I was treated rudely by the general manager who was the one running the counter. i got my truck at 7:35 instead of 6:45 which made me late meeting my moving party that were waiting on me at the moving site. The exterior of the truck was extremely dirty and had multiple dents and damage to the bumpers and side panels. Upon returning the truck later in the day, I was treated rudely by the same person who had a tag on that said he was general manager. I live in Vestavia and own a business in Vestavia but, I will go to Homewood or Hoover the next time I need a truck rental.

Would like to see a little more rigorous clean out after each use. Shop vac or occasionally mop truck floors, wash interior windows and side view mirrors. This comments is an overall comment for all locations. Otherwise, trucks have been great.

They were very friendly and tried to help me resolve a serious problem with the ‘no show' of the movers we commissioned and paid for through U-Haul. Note… I have not yet been contacted by the movers about my complaint/request for resolution.

The employee at the location was very helpful. Our original reservation was at a different location. The night before we were told it had been switched to this location. We were supposed to have the 24/7 contactless pickup. When we arrived and attempted to check in we were told the 24/7 pickup was unavailable and had to wait an hour for them to open. Was on hold with the 1-800 number for 25 minutes waiting for the next available operator. Once we got to finally speak to an operator she was helpful, but the wait time for speaking to a person was insane.

The auto transport needs some attention with the ratchets in the front that tie down the tires. Either lubrication or replacement.

When I got there they were no help. I had a reservation for an appliance dolly and they did not have one I reserved. They had NO concern about me needing this appliance dolly. I asked them could the help me I really need this to be able to do my move. The did not care at all. The said call The call the Pelham location and see if they have one. I asked if the could call. They did nothing not even respond to me I then asked again. The woman at the desk told me just go there and see. Then I did the inspection of the vehicle, it was so dirty and it was damage. I went to the Pelham location the did not have a Dolly there either. I was really put in a had situation I even called the 1800 number and they sent me to a place that was closed. I would never recommend you company. This company really put in in a very stressful situation. I just lost my mother on top of all this. This is why I need your company's products.

I will never rent from U-Haul again. Service was awful. Nothing was explained. I probably should have used the app. The truck was disgusting both inside the cab and in the back. Debris was everywhere. Foot prints visible on the driver side windshield, trash on the floor. If I didn't have COVID, I probably do now because the interior of the cab was gross. I just needed to get my sick mother in law moved. Steering was definitely a chore and it popped when making turns. The truck wandered. This vehicle was unsafe at any speed. I'm grateful to have survived driving it on the interstate because it was unwieldy. What has happened U-Haul?

We had reserved a 12ft utility trailer with a ramp and the entire trailer was filled with gravel left over from a previous rental. Not an ideal situation for moving antique furniture. We had also reserved an appliance dolly. When we went for pick up we were informed that there were none in stock and that making a reservation only meant that we made a reservation and that it was not guaranteed for use under that contract. We had to go to a separate company, pay double to rent the much needed tool, and have rude service trying to explain to me what making a reservation meant. Unfortunately we are having to do the same this next weekend as well...Uhaul Vestavia Hills, Alabama needs to be better at accommodating customer's RESERVATIONS if they cannot fulfill them, especially when they have to pay more than expected to a different company to fulfill their original needs.

Only comment, the return after hours was somewhat uncertain, but it worked out. As instructed I left the trailer on the lot at the same place I picked it up (not in a return area). I called in the net day to verify the check-in. The check-in was initiated after I called in. I did not see any ball locks being used on the trailers. For the security of the trailers that would be a good investment.

The associates at the Vestavia Uhaul were very friendly and helpful. My issue was not with them. The van we were given had a "system stabilitrack" warning light that came on 1/2 way into our trip. The huge problem is you CANNOT GET UHAUL ON THE PHONE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM! There is never anyone answering and you are forever on hold. We drove to the nearest Uhaul Service center in Auburn on Opelika road and the employee had no idea what we were talking about and said we would have to call roadside assistance. We did not get a good vehicle and there is no way to get any help from Uhaul on the phone if there is a problem.

The associates here were very nice...it is Uhaul that was a little disappointing. First of all, it is just about impossible to get anyone on the phone when you call Uhaul. You are forwarded to a main number and then you are on hold FOREVER, no matter when you call. If you can't solve your problem over the computer, you are out of luck. Secondly, about 40 miles into our trip, the dashboard warning light started showing a "service stabilitrack " message. We felt like the steering was a little loose. We tried calling Uhaul but we could not wait a day for them to answer the phone. When we got to the Opelika Road location in Auburn, AL we stopped at a Uhaul service to ask them what to do or if we should trade out our vehicle for the 2 hour ride home. They were nice, but clueless. No offer to let us get home in a (possibly) safer vehicle, and they had no idea what the warning message meant. We drove back to Birmingham in the rain, not knowing if the vehicle was dangerous to drive or not. Google said it could mean a bad fuse or faulty steering issue. I was SO disappointed that we could not get through to a human for help when we called. There is no way to reach UHaul if something goes wrong or you need help.

I sent a complaint about the trailer. It appeared not to be sealed, because when I unloaded, the majority of my items were covered with layers of dirt and grime. I have requested an adjustment to the cost. I spent double the time trying to salvage pictures, books and washing away grime from my things. The boxes transferred dirt into my new apartment and spent hours cleaning it as well. Very dissatisfied.

This location was fine. When I checked in, the app would not let me take pictures of additional damage not already marked with an "X." An employee came out and snapped pictures with her phone, but I'm not sure if she actually reported them. I originally made a reservation with the U-Haul in Homewood, AL, but the did not have the truck I reserved, nor did they have any trucks at all for me, making me have to go to another location and putting me behind schedule by an hour. Nobody called me prior to let me know there were no trucks. Also, I was supposed to be comped the additional mileage from having to drive from a further location and comped a hand truck for the trouble, but got charged for both.
