Dear U-Haul, I am clarifying a few things. I came with a driver today. I am the one who chose to rent the trailer, who needed the service, who made the reservation, who showed up in person. My driver drove for me. It was my choice, my need, my business, and I paid for it. That I made clear in all the communications that transpired, from the initial phone call for the reservation to being in person at the West Utica U-Haul desk. Please reissue another receipt for my records. Also, I was repeatedly addressed as 'Dear' by the employee filling out the contract on the computer.when he asked for the necessary information. And this kind of behavior is consistent with the automatic assumption that Mr. Hastings is the customer and that his name should be on the contract/receipt. Please fix all of it. Thank you. Even though the site was open, check-in through the uhaul website was not permitted to begin prior to 9 AM when my rental period began. This took 20 minutes and ate into the time that I was supposed to have the van available to me, which I'm sure is intentional. Checking in through the website was a pain, with numerous pages to have to go through. I had to view little pictures on my phone to see if they matched up to the images of the van in front of me. Even though I selected self check out I still then had to go in and work with an associate so I'm not sure what the point of that process was. The associate took my phone out of my hand and begin pressing buttons and agreeing to things on the uhaul website that I did not view. When we picked up the uhaul we were told that if we returned the equip., before the contract ended on 9/23 our credit card would subtract those charges. When we returned the equip. on 9/18 we were told it was a set charge. Not very happy about this/what a scam.tony L.
While moving out we found at least a dozen roaches running around. Once we unpacked our house belongings into our new home our belongings had live roaches in them. Your business model is the epitome of neoliberal retail. The up selling on the website is irritating, for a $19.95 rental the insurance is $20 with a $150 deductible?! Corporate pick pockets! The self-check-in did not work - I had to stand in a long, slow line anyhow. The line was slow because all the agents were wrestling with a buggy inefficient computer system. I do give the agent who waited on me credit, she was pleasant when she informed my the self-check-in app stored none of my information. Though she up-sold me on more insurance to which I said yes just to get out of there because I had been there so long. When I told her there was a personal vehicle parked in front of the rental van, she pleasantly told me she did not know what to tell me. Your gas fee $4.75/gal is theft, of course I replace the gas myself. The â€œYou dent it You payâ€ stickers on the wheel wells were obnoxious. Maintain your equipment. The small community organization in which I direct will hire a private person with a truck for $50 for the five hours and ten miles we required in the future.RICHARDHENRY JR M.

I won't recommend ANY Uhaul location. We were given an estimate at another location - they cancelled SEVERAL times with no notice and when finally scheduled - it was at another location. When we picked up the car with the installed bitch - the price had gone up $125!! They said we were quoted wrong by the previous location. We were never given an updated estimate and had no heads up for change in price. Uhaul used to be a great company- will no longer be doing business with you.Linda T.

Originally I made my appointment 3 weeks in advance for a Wednesday at noon I showed up on Wednesday and they told me that my hitch never arrived. I didn't even get a call or an email to inform me before I made the trip out. They pushed it back to Friday at 9 AM I told them that I had to work Friday at noon and they told me that it should only take two hours. I dropped my car off Friday at 9 AM I showed up at 11:30 and my car was not even moved. Finally at 4:30 PM I got a call telling me that my car was done. After paying for everything but making the appointment I got a random $10 charge. Once looking at my car I noticed that the wiring was not even ran down to the hitch just sitting in the back of the car. I would never go back to U-Haul.John O.

There was a lot of miscommunication caused by the inability to contact the local U-Haul location. I could not call the local store to find out when my U-Box was being was being delivered. Was promised access on Thursday, was told by the employee at the Utica Store that they would call me on Thursday with a time that I could access the box. Waited all day, no call received, went to the store on Friday morning to find out that they never put the UBox on the trailer because they didn't have anyone to do it and when I asked why they didn't call me to let me know that in the morning, the employee laughed and said that she forgot to call me. The main number was horrible with on hold times of 1-2 hours to get a simple question answered. The U-Box was perfect for what I needed but I will never rent one due to the problems that I had with the delivery and pickup in Palm Bay, FL and the delivery in Utica, NY.Susan B.

Computer system down had to leave credit card information so I could get on the road and was subsequently charged 3 times causing a hold on funds preventing me from being able to get a room for the night had to sleep in my vehicle. No paperwork issued or emails or texts until I called customer service the following day. And then told because it's the weekend they couldn't help the multiple repeat charges on my card. The lock was not inside the unit as was written in my confirmation. The access code provided was incorrect. (They only use 4 digits not 5). The front desk helped me on that issue. Then I found the unit but it had a Zip tie in the slide that was difficult to break as I don’t carry a knife with me. Getting a customer service "person" on the phone, especially after hours was awful! Very cumbersome. Go back to using people for customer service. The young lady that took care us in the beginning when renting the unit was very helpful. I explained to her that my daughter had limited mobility and needed a unit that was close to the entrance and she was able to accommodate her. That to me meant a great deal to us. I was told I could access my unit 24/7. After packing up the uhaul I got to the storage unit at 9 pm. It was locked. We loaded 2 carts and pushed our things all the way to find out we couldn't access the unit. I have my things going to two different locations.
