Customer feedback is extremely important to us. We use these reviews to guide our efforts and improve our service. Everything that follows is direct from our customers, without any filtering or editing on our part.
Make it VERY clear online that if you want to use your own insurance that you must provide your personal policy number. I could not at the time of rental and was not allowed to rent without it, therefore ending up being forced to use UhAul’s insurance, which cost me $50 extra. It left me feeling angry and lied to. An easy fix would be to state this on the rental app so that the customer can come prepared. I will be looking to rent elsewhere first moving forward and only use UhAul if I have to. Generally I have liked the customer service and all aspects of Uhaul in the past. I have rented vehicles from Uhaul for numerous times. This was the first time I had heard of this.

Mgr behind the desk was very helpful. I felt so bad as it was one of the coldest days of the year and she said a lot of the vehicles didn't start. and then when we were there the UHaul storage facility next door's alarms went off and the fire dpt came. She was very courteous to us since we had to went while she ran next door to handle the emergency. And then she gave us a little discount for having to wait. She was excellent and was having a hard day!

When we went to pick up our items with the movers, the area in front of our units only had one small path shoveled in front of them. Staff tried to be helpful by using ice melt in front, but we and our movers had to shovel the snow ourselves so our furnishings and belongings wouldn’t be damaged.

I did not have wiring on my hitch, and on the spot they were able to fix my car, hook my trailer up, and send me on my way in under 90 minutes. Not to mention, they were extremely nice and took the time to tell me what my options were! Highly recommend!!

Quick easy pickup and drop off process. Staff was nice and very helpful during the process. Truck fuel tank was not full at pickup (close but down about 1/8th of a tank. Truck also would not switch out of the "tow/haul" mode using the button as requested by in-cab placards.

This location was fine. I have two issues with U-Haul's way of doing business. I was in a holding pattern while a previous renter finished with the trailer I wanted to rent. It was due back at 2:30 PM. It would have been great if I were notified when it came in so I could pick it up. U-Haul does not have a way to do that. Disappointing for a large corporation that controlls the truck/trailer market. We renters don't have alternatives. So, I called at 2:30 to make sure the trailer had been returned and was available. I told them I was on the way. I arrived at 3:05 PM. My "appointment" was for 2:45. At 3:00 U-Haul sends me a text saying that since i'm 'late' by more than 15 minutes they may cancel the reservation. This despite my telling the rental location I am on the way!
Second, although I was informed on which reture locations were open on which days (the closest was closed on Sunday). I was not told that the second-closest location closed at 2:30 PM. It was 80 miles away, and I got there at 2:40 PM, only to find it devoid of human presence. Then I see on the contract, in a tiny typeface, that I may be subject to a $20 "convenience fee" for dropping it off whitout being checked in. Sheesh. Gimme a break! How about some real communication, folks. It's a great invention you can participate in at no cost.

Lighting outside of the units was awful. We were moving from ME to CT and this was the closest location with a large unit. When we got there the rope attached to the door handle was frozen into the ice in front of the unit. When we asked for help the guy handed me an ice chipper. When we came back 3 weeks later to remove our items the ice in front of the unit was worse. Not only was this a HUGE safety issue, but the warmer days caused it to melt and it was so high up the water went right into our unit. Boxes destroyed, furniture sitting in water and mattresses as well. All they had to do was shovel in front of the units and none of that would have happened. Laziness. I feel bad for the other unit owners who have no idea what they are walking into.

Roadside service a problem. Was charged about $350.00 for keys to van which I found just a few weeks later and returned keys soon as UHAUL opened their door next day. I knew the keys were secure and believed the relative helping me fill boxes packed the keys. The Keys were found in one of the UHAUL cartons that were packed. I had to rent the truck extra days while searching for keys, which did not get to use it those days for moving my things. I had to move most of my things by using my car. It cost me a lot of money doing business with UHAUL, including supplies I bought there and storage rental..and rental of truck. Only because of Road Service treatment I will not return beck to UHAUL. I must add the workers at the Westfield MA store were very pleasant and were helpful. I appreciated their hard work.

Jacob K was so helpful and knowledgeable. He treated me like I was his family. He helped me move all my belongings from Florida to Western Massachusetts. When I went to my storage unit after he packed all my belongings, they were stacked carefully and neatly. Also, he took excellent care of my car; even put in air fresheners. Also, he followed me home in his truck as I drove my car because it was evening. When he left to return to Florida I missed him as if he were my son . Thank you for choosing Jacob to help me move.

My email said a lock would be in the unit because I did online move in. That night I packed my car with all the stuff and drove there. It was not. I was not able to leave my stuff. Called the next day and was told that you don't leave locks in the unit. We'll that's what the email said. If that's not what you do, you need to tell corporate you don't because that's what it says when you do an online move in. Also when we went to pick up the lock it was 6:50. The guy said he was helping the person he was helping and then was closing and wouldn't help my husband to get the lock. We used our own lock.

I don’t blame this storage facility for my very negative experience with the truck I rented and the poor customer service communication. The facility that I dropped my rental off at and got the storage at actually agreed with my negative remarks and said they would like to see some change and they were very friendly and understanding. Overall I enjoyed the service at the facility but otherwise terrible rental, I’m glad after multiple times of check and I finally was able to find this facility. Wish I could rate on the full U-Haul service and not just on one facility otherwise the score would’ve been lower.

I was thoroughly impressed by how assistive, helpful, and knowledgeable, the gentleman working the closing shift at the front counter was. He was very polite, and professional, he even helped after hours when the key card would not scan correctly. I could not speak more highly of this gentleman if possible. He made the experience very enjoyable.

Sometimes the staff was too busy and rushed to be patient or polite. I dont like u haul advertising a free month of storage if we use their trucks for moving and then reneging on that promise. Only issue was mice/rats that made it into my temperature-controlled unit. There was traps inside the unit but they still are through clothing and left droppings. Just thought I'd mention.

I reserved online a 10x20 drive up unit for $204/month, upon arrival I was informed there were no 10x20 units available. The best solution I was told was to rent side by side 10x10 units inside. I reluctantly agreed as I was there with a truck full of stuff. When processing my reservation it turned out that to rent the 2 units would cost me $300/month which is UNACCEPTABLE. If I was quoted that much at the time of reservation I would never had rented the unit as that is way too much money for me to pay monthly. This move with UHaul has been nothing but problems from the truck rental, the moving helpers, and then the storage unit. I am EXTREMELY disappointed. UHaul took a very stressful situation and made it so much worse.

GERALD at the westfield location was absolutely amazing. He was swamped with customers phone and in store and was a bbn le to maintain a smile and handle both the phone and in store customers fast and efficient. Your "President " Jerry Ouilettte should be ashamed to employ Greg Bonneau in a managerial position. Greg is rude, sarcastic and cares nothing about customer problems. Unit full of rodent droppings.
