Adaptive Reuse in Westfield, MA at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Westfield

Building History

Pontiac, originally the Oakland Motor Car, was founded in 1907. The first Pontiac model made its debut as part of the Oakland line in the 1920s. The car, which featured a six-cylinder engine, was so popular that the "Oakland" was eventually dropped from the company name and Pontiac became a susbsidiary of GM with its own division by 1931. Pontiac was advertised as the performance division and was sold in the U.S. and Canada. Original body styles offered were a sedan with both two and four doors, a Landau Coupe, Sport Landau Sedan, Sport Cabriolet and Sport Roadster. The Pontiac brand had many new models and reitterations though the Bonneville was a popular highlight from the 1950's until 2005. Unfortunately, GM discontinued manufacturing and marketing vehicles under the Pontiac brand name by the end of 2010. The last Pontiac, a model called the G6, was created in 2010.The Springfield Pontiac location was built in 1955 and U-Haul acquired the building in 1983.
