As we were pulling into their lot, our rented truck got stuck in the mouth of their driveway in what was a couple inches of snow. When I told them the truck was AWFUL in snow, they agreed. They said they warned their customers about just how bad those trucks were in snow BEFORE they rented them. I would have appreciated knowing that prior to renting.

Trailer was a bit dirty and could have been sprayed down. There was mud/ dirt in the ratchets and this made it difficult to work with. Everyone was very nice and the equipment worked well

The van smelled like cigarette smoke. The tires were only all seasons and were terrible on the winter roads, and the parking lot of the Uhaul was not plowed or had any salt or sand down, so the van tires spun. Got stuck just trying to get into the parking lot to return the van. At least put some sand or salt down in your own parking lot, or put winter tires on the vehicles if you’re going to rent in New England states.

The guy checking us in told me I was a day late and I would’ be charged an extra day. When I checked my email receipt (I trusted them ) I saw he charged me for 2 days since I was 16 minutes late. I touched base with customer service online and they did refund my extra 16 minute day.

Burlington Uhaul has been great to me for a while now. My issue with this move was that when my employees called, they where told that they could drop off the truck at any location. I thought it was a Rutland only drop off but Uhaul told us otherwise. I'm not sure if my employees got this information from 1800 go Uhaul or the Burlington location. Either way I am getting charged extra for having it driven down to Rutland. I did like that the Burlington Uhaul people were very nice and did give me an chance to drive it down myself but unfortunately my scheduled wouldn't allow for this.

Nathan and his team were ultimate professionals. They actually called ahead to ensure we could coordinate truck and dolly pickup. When my requirements changed, they were flexible and accommodating. If I ever have moving or rental requirements in Burlington again, they will be my first choice.

I felt the $15 cleaning fee was unreasonable. I specifically checked to ensure the cargo area was clean upon return after hours. I was then surprised to see the charge the next day. I suppose that there may have been some wood splinters on the floor which were difficult to see at night, but these couldn't have taken more than 60 seconds to sweep -- that's $900/hr!

My experience was great! I rented an 8ft pick-up truck to drive from Burlington, VT to the IKEA in Montreal, CA. Everything went smoothly. It was a little snowy/icy that morning and the attendant at U-Haul very nicely swept out the back of the truck so it was dry when I needed to load it up. All in all a very painless experience and super helpful overall. Would highly recommend!

I explicitly asked they charge a different card upon return and they did not. Now I am fighting with my credit card company to stay on top of the Uhaul mistake. SOO ANNOYING. As if moving isnt annoying enough.

My experience was better than expected. Both associates were friendly and helpful. It was my first time towing and they answered all my questions with ease. Much different than my negative U-Haul experience in Mass 10 years ago. My only con for VT was the original price quoted in store for trailer rental was double what I was quoted on mobile. When I showed my phone, the price was corrected. However the needed supplies were cheaper than walmart, which was a pleasant surprise.

I rented a 26 foot truck. The battery was dead because someone did't check the dome light. So I got a 17 foot truck instead. This caused me to rent a truck again and pay movers again. When I explained this to Nate the manager of Burlington VT, he said no discount will be applied to future trucks. NEVER AGAIN. I still need a truck this next weekend, the way I see it you have 5 days to make this right. Or I will be rating you or social media good or bad. Sincerely, Daniel Meehan

I rented a 26 foot truck, when I arrived it wouldn't start. So I got the 17 foot truck. because It wasn't big enough I had to make several trips. I got $30 off..... this costed me hundreds. I spoke to Nate the manager of the Burlington VT store, about a discount on the next time I got a truck he said NO!, I already got $30 off on the previous time I rented one when it wouldn't start. I explained that I needed to rent a truck two more times because their dead battery from a dome light. I need to hire movers again. NEVER AGAIN.... The next truck this week will be rented for you closest competitor. The way I see it you have 5 days to fix this until I rate you on social media good or bad. What do you think I will say? I was frustrated by the price for the time. To spend $140 to only have the vehicle for a day seemed excessive. When I booked the vehicle I put in a pick-up time of Saturday and Drop off of Sunday - and given the price, I assumed that meant I would have it for two days - but when I called to see what time I could drop it off on Sunday I was told it had to be back at 9am and it was only a 24 hour rental. 24 hours really means 8 or 9 hours in the winter as it gets really cold and dark so early. I really could have used a few more hours on Sunday with the truck - but it was rented out to someone else at 930am so that was not an option, and I was certainly not going to spend even more money to keep it when I felt like it was really expensive already.

Stop overcharging!!!!!!, I was over charged by 90 dollars, all because they were supposedly helping!!! I had uhaul.com for 7and 1/2 hours and only went 62.9 miles, 29.95 for truck and .99 cents a mile, adds up to 92.22 but was charged 182.66, not happy at all, this is not a deal , I am on disability and can't afford over paying, only had 4 day notice to move and Layla on Riverside and Nick put in for 48 hours and 134 miles I didn't use or need 48 hours or 134 miles, I want to be reimbursed

The extra dolly and furniture pads on the truck would have been nice, except we did not need them (or we would have rented them upfront), and they took up valuable space that could have been used to move an extra piece of furniture (bookshelf or dresser).

Pick up location did a very poor job of making sure that the chain had clearance from the road. My son had to tie up the chain to keep it from dragging on the road. This was a comment made by your personnel at the drop off location. The original drop off location was not open on Sunday, despite the fact that their hours are listed as being open on your site It took me about 15 minutes on the phone with your customer service personnel and at least two switched calls (to another customer service person) to find me another drop off location

More places open on Sundays. Tried to rent trailer where I live in Barre. They had one, but was told it was rented today. Been sitting there all day. Second time I have tried to do business in Barre and was unsuccessful with this dealer. No customer service from Barre location. Will not deal with them again. Ryder is also in Barre. Drove an hr to Burlington for this rental when I did not need to!. This trailer has bad vibration when towing.

I rented a trailer to haul a car. The trailer was quite old and not up to the standards of other equipment I have rented in the past. The trailer was equipped with surge brakes that did not work. I had to trailer a car over Jay mountain and on the downhill side, the only brakes I had were on my vehicle. If I had needed to stop fast, I would not have been able to. Very dangerous situation.

Your website was not helpful at all. It ended up being a complete waste of my time. It guaranteed the trailer size but not the location. We ended up with a reservation 25 miles away. So I went to the local location we had requested (Riverside Burlington), rented the trailer there as a walk-in, then I had to phone St Albans to cancel the one I'd reserved online. Stupid. I didn't care exactly which trailer, several sizes would do. But I did care about the location. Why would you think I'd want to drive 50 miles when there is a trailer available right around the corner here?

The mirrors on the truck didn't stay in place, they tried to bill me for a dolly I didn't use, my reservation was screwed up and I received a call at 7 in the morning telling me I needed to get the truck back asap. When I picked up the truck I was told I had it for 24 hours but according to my early morning call, it was only checked out for 12 hours. He was rude and made me feel like it was all my fault. I am VERY unhappy with this experience with U-Haul.

I do not like how U-Haul does it's fuel filling for customers. it would be a whole lot easier if you are able to pick up the truck on a full tank and for the customers to bring it back on a full tank. I find your system very confusing when. I overfilled the tank on my experience with U-Haul and lost money so no no recommendations for me. Very dissatisfied

I was given bad equipment then missed my move in date because of it and was over charged the following day because I had to move everything myself with an infant child. I'm not impressed by getting charged an extra almost 50$ for having the truck after hours and was told it was ok to drop it off after hours and was never told I'd be charged another2x for the truck after paying almost 70 already to go around 30 miles or so

I was told that this location had a 26' truck for me on 9/30 via your 1-800 service #. My movers told me my stuff would not fit in the 20' truck I rented. I proceeded to go back to Burlington to change trucks. When I arrived, 20 minute wait and then was told they had a 26' truck but I couldn't take it one way to NY. I then had to pay $35 in extra mileage in NY. I also had to have a friend rent a cargo uhaul van to come fit the rest of my belongings. I feel that I should be compensated in some way bc I did not get the right truck at the right place.

I would rate the physical space of the store below average - it is difficult to park and come and go from at busy times. Overcrowded lot. The store is SUPER small which I think tends to add to the stress of interactions. I would rate my experience - online preorder and self check out along with staff interaction exceptional. The greatest asset is your staff - who are patient, professional and helpful. The person who helped me did a fantastic job of working with a very angry customer just before he helped me. He maintained his composure throughout.

I was told I would have a truck at noon on my way over to get the truck I got a call saying the truck was due to be picked up at 330 which was not what I agreed to. When getting to the shop they had to put me into a larger truck which I could only have for two hours because it was scheduled to go out at a certain time. They did not even offer me anything for doing this to me.

We asked for two quotes: renting a 15' uhaul to cross the country or renting two u boxes to be shipped. They were roughly the same price so we went with the boxes. The very next day someone from the regional office called and offered us fifty percent off if we went with the truck (after we already loaded one box and returned it to uhaul, etc.) Obviously we would have gone with that, but it was too late. This was confusing and extremely frustrating, we weren't we given this deal in our original quote? Also, we asked if the airbags could be turned off in the fifteen foot trucks and they at first said yes, but then said they routinely dismantle them to leave them on all of the time even when it says off?!?! This seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Wish we would have been told about the deal at the time of inquiry. Probably won't go through uhaul again.

After all of this I left a personal item in the cab of the truck which my wife and I both witnessed in the cup holder of the truck after I had already put the keys in the after hours drop box and locked the truck doors. I called roadside assistance and they said they wouldn't come out to unlock the truck but that I would have to wait until morning and call the store. I called the store and the employee claimed to have gone out to the truck and searched and said my item wasn't there. This is impossible unless the truck windows were broken and the belongings stolen. My item was stolen plain and simple. This is absolutely inexcusable to do to customers.

During 30 years of moves -- more than 20 using U-Haul--the common factor has always been NOT having the equipment reserved at the location ready for pick up. Do like Penske: have it there, hooked up, paperwork ready, BEFORE I show up. NOT having the auto carrier there screwed up our schedule by making us go back and get it later. Auto carrier was damaged. Side tire guard was significantly damaged and prevented the drivers side door from opening once the car was loaded. I had to crawl out the window.

Arriving at the Burlington location, I explained the situation that occurred in Rochester to Nate the service manager. Because of the weather (flooding on local roads that day) I had to take a longer route. That combined with the extra miles to get the tow dolly put me over my mileage limit. I also explained that I was charged extra when I picked up the truck. Nate told me he would look into it. He called me 2 days later to let me know he had reimbursed the extra miles as well as the $150 dollars. I could not be more pleased with his response and him taking this on when it was not his "problem".

Thank you. I was skeptical because in the past I have had my reservation moved to a different day against my will by uhaul. We had no issues this time. Thank you!! They were quick and expedient! They allowed us to keep the truck a second night with no issue. My only concern is that the rep did not do a walk around with me before we left and I had to request a walk around strongly when I dropped it off. We liked the gas gauge in the truck. We loved the appliance dolly. Awesome. The roof was hot enough that we were concerned any plastic touching it would melt. It was worrisome because we had the truck packed to the roof. I can't imagine what the temp must be in the southwest.

The truck ran horrible. It kept having issues shifting. I had to keep the uhaul a few extra hours because I felt like I needed to drive it so slowly otherwise it acted up and was charged for an additional full day because it was a few hours late. Not impressed. Also, the back was so dirty when I got it I had to sweep and mop the entire thing before I could put my stuff in it because I didn't want it to get dirty which also added to the additional time that I kept the truck.

I arranged the contract for the U-Haul but was not able to drive the truck so a friend picked it up and drove it for me. The woman who worked with me was outstanding. When my friend picked up the truck he was told that we could keep it until 6pm with no extra charge even though the original return time was 9am. However when he called later to confirm, he was told that no one had told him that and it was absolutely not true! The transaction otherwise was smooth and easy, but being told one thing by one person and the opposite by another person was really frustrating.

My truck was not available for early pick up as promised so we had to wait. I had a lot of problems with the U-haul app trying to dispatch & the fellow from this location called me & was angry at me because the app did not work. Folks working at your site were very stressed. But they worked it out in the end when we returned the truck. The workers made assumptions that we knew all the steps for app dispatch when obviously we did not.

This location has so much inventory that there is no place for customers to even park to try and pick up a rental. I was just being dropped off, not leaving our vehicle and there was no place to even get dropped off. Had to park down the road just to come in.

It was really difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. Even just driving my four door car in, there was no where to park. I was immediately blocked in by other people arriving behind me, and had to get out of line to move my car. Getting the truck out was a bear as well, it was like a game of tetris. There were many people waiting for service, and I had to wait a very long time. I made my reservation for 430pm, and wasn't helped until about 515. There was one woman working the counter and a man outside helping move vehicles. Thats it. There was no one else there. The people in line were the most annoying part. Thankfully, the two employees were kind, understanding, and efficient. They were graceful under pressure. If it wasn't for their professionalism, kind attitude, and ability at their jobs, I would have been extremely unhappy.

The back of the truck had not been cleaned. I had to sweep it and throw out trash that I had found in the back. I had several issues with my reservations and had to call u-haul multiples times to resolve these issues. Most of the times I called, it was like pulling teeth to get the customer service agent to resolve an issue. I think something that would help with a lot of the issues and frustrations I had, would be not confirming every detail of a person's reservation and then changing it without their knowledge or notifying them about the change when calling for confirmation.

We have used the Uhaul at the Riverside Ave, Burlington, VT location quite often ( 4-10 times a month ) for our business, for over eleven years. Nate and crew are always great ! The improvements in the last 18 months are impressive. Keep up the good work !

The staff were friendly and polite. The big downside to this location is that they do not have parking. I was unaware of this problem until I showed up. As I rented a truck for the day, I needed to leave my vehicle at the uhaul location. I found it very frustrating that they don't seem to have any better advice but to ask the business across the street if you can leave your vehicle there. (Something I was unable to do)

The person who checked us in, Nathaniel, did a great job. He was the only person duty and he handled himself and the work pleasantly and efficiently. The van was clean and well maintained. However, there was absolutely no place to park the van upon return. The lot was overflowing and the person checking returns in was in a very difficult situation. As a driver, it felt very unsafe. I was concerned I would either get hit by oncoming traffic and/or damage the van pulling into an area which was less than a van length long. The person checking returns in was not all that helpful but it is really the fault of management that there were so many trucks and vans that the lot was in gridlock. So, although I think the check in process was very good and the equipment very well kept, the location was not safe. I will try another location next time I help my daughter move.

I requested to pick up the truck at 2800 Shelburne Rd Shelburne VT at 10:00 on Tuesday June 1 for 4 hours. I arrived shortly after 10 and was told that I should've gotten a text (there was a typo in my # in one place but not another) that the location for pick up was moved to 460 Riverside Ave Burlington VT. While the distance is only 6 miles, when you pay for miles every bit counts and the storage we were emptying was at the original location. Also because of traffic we didn't pick up the truck until just after 11 and was told we needed it back before 2 since it was already rented. The guy at the counter changed the rate from $.79 to $.59 per mile but given that we had to add additional miles but that still doesn't take into consideration the lost hour from driving back and forth.

It was the busiest day of the year for moving and they had one person behind the counter!!!! Who was rude! Returning was a nightmare, all the trucks we jammed into random spaces no order and we waited for over 30mins to return only to be told, just leave the keys in the truck. Overall sadly it was not a good experience, sad as we had a good experience in November!

This location was great but the upper management was terrible! After telling me that there was nothing available and having to drive all the way to Barre, they told me that the truck I requested was available in Burlington the whole time. I wasted over 2 hours of time and energy driving back and forth. Every customer service person I spoke with was terribly rude and not helpful. The people at Riverside Ave were great though!

The Customer service at the location was fine at the end BUT when renting, we had a huge problem. I already called and complained but thry made it out like it was our fault that we chose the Burlington location. We reserved online and pick up was at 8:30am. We were pulling into the lot wich is 50 miles from our home and they called at 8:25am to tell us they did not have a trailer that we reserved and that we had to go back 50 miles home to pick it up. They said they called us at 7:00am BUT we have the voicemail that says 8:26am. They were not empathetic at all and basically told us " There is nothing we can do" . I, then called and they rented us a van instead BUT not for the time we needed it. Very disappointed in Uhaul. Itself.

The services at the physical location on Riverside Avenue are very good. The phone system is annoying. If you call the Burlington number, you might get someone in California. That person might think Montpelier is in Utah or something. And you might get put on hold for a really long time.

Don't let the online system say I can pick up a truck before you open if I can't actually do that. It was SUPER annoying to show up at 8:30 and see employees working and trucks sitting there and be told that we couldn't pick up until 9:00, despite the online reservation saying that it would be totally fine. If your employees say that "no one knows anything about the online system" then don't use it. I get that corporate has different styles and rules and ways of doing things, but I would have happily come at 9 if that had been what was scheduled. Leyla (Layla?) who worked there was great but I'm very disappointed in the management.

Myuhaul.com is ridiculous- see comments above. Please revise your process to reflect real life. The drop off location was nice, however someone parked a return in the entrance which resulted in my having to maneuver a 26' truck through residential narrow streets to navigate back around to the other entrance. I realize this is not the fault of Uhaul, but it's a consideration on how this location parks their rental vehicles in anticipation of this occurring ( small lot, lots of rentals, heavy traffic location). The location appeared to be stocked well with vehicles and packing supplies, and when I called earlier in the day the woman answering was pleasant and helpful.

Truck was dirty in the cab and box. Steering was terrible, when the truck was straight the wheel was turned a quarter turn to the left. All this after losing two hours of move time because the truck i RESERVED came back broken the day before.more than enough time to correct the problem, not my problem. I do not feel that my money was well spent. Dont care much for uhaul anymore. I may go elsewhere next move.

Nathan was very helpfull. We had reserved a 20 ft truck two weeks in advance but the only thing available was a pick up truck. Nathan went out of his way and found us a 15 ft truck. Our move was only 2 mi ea way so we just had to make 3 trips. Returning the truck the young man credited us for $ 18.00 gas which was very nice. We do not like this location, Riverside Av. Burlington, but I do understand it must be a good location for the city and all the college students

When I went to pick up my rental, I was absolutely shocked to learn that I had to park my car in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot across the street. Then, after I finished crossing busy Riverside Ave., I was told by the U-Haul agent that I should have notified the Dunkin Donut clerk that I was leaving my car, at which point I had to cross again, and was told by the Dunkin Donuts clerk that I had to move my car to a different parking lot. I then had to cross Riverside Ave again, waiting 5 min. for the drive time traffic to let me cross. Then, after I dropped off the pick-up and trailer, I had to cross Riverside ave again to retrieve my car again. I am certainly not a raving fan.

Not very helpful when getting the truck. No directions on how to drive it, etc. There was a dolly in the truck I couldn't use without being charged. Not only is that obnoxious but it took up space I could have used. If I don't want a dolly like I said don't have one in the truck.

The rental agreement showed that the fuel tank was full. After leaving the site the gas gauge was bouncing around from 7/8 to full so I stopped to fill it up before my trip. I put in just over $15 of gas. I called the agent that rented the truck to me and she said she would mention it to the manager. Upon return of the truck the manager said he could not do anything for me. I rent trucks from U-Haul, only, several times a year. I now know that I need to shop around for the best pricing and service. In regards to clean and well maintained-The previous renters contract and documents were still in the truck and I used 63.3 gals of gas to go 490 miles. Half of that distance the truck was empty and all Interstate driving.

My reservation was screwed-up as the documentation said I would pick-up the van at 6:30pm and return it on 6:30am the next morning. That was a mistake. The lady who called me to ask where the van was, was anything but helpful. I was forwarded to two out of the area offices before the question was resolved. The local lady wanted to charge me an extra days charge and was unwilling to even consider that the contract simply had a wrong return time. It should have been 6:30pm. While the issue was seemingly resolved, I will wait until I review my charge card data before wanting to recommend this site to another potential customer.

The location on Riverside is far too hard to get in and out of. The staff were great. The BIG BIG issue I had was I rented and often do, rent 26 ft trucks. It was rented to me with 3/8 of a tank and reminded it must have a quarter tank returned or $30 refill fee plus 3.75 per gallon. Seems like an easy grab for cash on a truck nobody wants to bring to the pump...I HATE scamming companies.

The latch on the 5x8 trailer door was a little rusty and difficult to open. Nice crew, super fast easy drop off. You need a bigger parking lot though. Those poor guys are cramming trucks in there.

They knew that I would be moving furniture and they never told me that the uhaul I rented (10') did not come with a ramp so when we go to the location to load up the furniture, we couldn't and had to go back to Uhaul and get another truck that had a ramp at an additional cost. Nate, next time you have a customer standing in front of you, politely ask the phone calls you keep taking to hold. Didn't appreciate hand gestures indicating where to initial and sign on my contract. And then when I went to get my truck one was blocking it and you gentleman ignored me standing right in front of you for 10 minutes before I just took things into my own hands. Terrible experience. You all need a customer service class.

When they tell you to check the mileage and gas level before you leave- make sure you do that!! I did- both were off. I went back in, he changed the gas level, and said he was putting a note on the account about the mileage and they'd credit me when I returned it, just let them know about the note on the account. Well I let the lady know who checked the truck in - and big surprise- they didn't credit me! It may not have been a big discrepancy, but if they do this frequently, it's getting them free money.

I tried to use the U-HAUL app...Terrible experience! Very unfriendly, especially "take a photo the odometer"?! First of all, just a waste of time...you saw it for yourself...it's right there! That step failing gave you guys "above ave." instead of "excellent". If you haven't tried it. May I encourage you to see if you get the same result as I did. Entrance was all ice and dangerous, i can't remember the name but i think it was Aaron who put the trailer on the vehicle and i asked him if the lights were good and he said yep your all set, We checked them in the lot before leaving and the LR stop and turn was not working and i went back in and asked how he checked them and come to find out he did not, just simply lied to me. I now question the safety concern this U-Haul location offers?

The Burlington store was the busiest store I have ever been in and yet they gave me their full attention and helped along the way. Really great people work there!!!

A very convenient solution. The biggest issue is the U-Box computer reservation system. It is slow, and does not seem easy for the employees to navigate through.

The only setback about U-Boxes in Burlington Vermont is that I had to tow the boxes myself to my home and then tow the back to Uhaul.

This was a nightmare experience. The dates were wrong, the location for pick up was wrong - MULTIPLE TIMES!It cost me 3 times the amount to do this because of the problems with UHAUL.

don`t tell someone they need to arrive at the scheduled pickup time and then make them wait and hour while you prepare the box. there was a scheduled time for a reason.

I was charged for 3 months of storage that I never signed for, did not authorize. My card was charged 3 times...just discovered I was only refunded for 2 of 3 charges and will have to contact again
