Okay so I used uhaul from California to Portland. My drop off location was given to me via text message and didn't work very well and was frustrating. It was the Valvonie in Portland and I couldn't for the life of me find the drop box. The 800 # attendant was a kind of a jerk but gave me a different location (final drop off) and it was amazing! Great service felt so safe and truly made up for the other bad incident. 100% would recommend this whole process thank you so much!!!!EMILY L.

Next time they could accurately notate the starting gas and mileage, they could clean out the van and not leave trash and debris in it, and they could not erroneously charge me for gas even though I brought it back more full than I got it. They could even make me wait on hold less than 20 minutes to remediate the gas charges if they really wanted to go the extra mile.Todd C.

I was late so I had to wait on a truck to be sanitized assuming they rented mine that was ready earlier. The gals who helped me were absolutely wonderful! I believe Ashlee was the person who checked me in (I know her name starts with an A) and Ryan sanitized the truck. They were both so kind and friendly and clearly in great moods. Our rental went smoothly except that mobile check in really slowed us down. The app didn't recognize the back of the drivers license photo because of the faded address change sticker (OR license), and i had to re-enter a lot of info that I already had entered when making the reservation. The app is pretty glitchy and the chat function was annoying and not helpful :(Anna B.

There is a $30 convenience fee if the truck is returned with under a quarter tank. I received the truck with less than a quarter tank and was therefore forced to put extra gas in it or wait in line for a long time to argue about it. Not a huge deal, but not an ideal policy .Justin R.
My reservation was altered less than 2 days before pickup, changed from a 26' truck that could be picked up at 7 a.m. nearby to a 20' truck that was located over an hour away and could not be picked up until 10 a.m. I was able to get the reservation adjusted to a 15' truck located 30 mins away that was able to be picked up at 7 a.m. The scheduler I spoke with said the website inappropriately listed the 26' truck size as available and that schedulers only schedule 2 days in advance making it impossible to get a 26' truck. I also attempted to reserve help for the move, but it seems it was never scheduled. I was unable to move all my stuff and was left without help unloading. Aka you fucked me over U-haul and I am now a disgruntled customer. I would've hoped a discount had been offered due to the major inconvenience and poor business model. The only discount I received was to drive the truck an additional 120 miles past my ending location and the scheduler did not add enough miles to the reservation, so I owed money upon drop off.Stephanie B.

Every step of the way there where were problems. Uboxs not picked up when scheduled, only 1 of 2 boxes sent, charged for second box to be sent even though already charged when it was supposed to be sent 1 month earlier. 2 months to have charges removed. Problems getting access to boxes when scheuled. Columbia location not answering their phone, let it go to national # knowing that things not communicated to them. Columbia staff very freindly but doesn't make up for all the extra waiting around needlessly if things wjere done the right way to start with. Will never use or recommend uhaul again.Linda H.

I would like a FULL refund for the trailer rental, insurance and any other costs associated with this facility. When we went to pick up trailer..the attendant helped the person infront and then left because his shift was over. My friend was the NEXT and ONLY other waiting. This caused A LOT of distress and anxiety. We did not know how to load car. Was guaranteed someone would physically be there to help. My friend ended up hitting his head on the concrete. Got out of car incorrectly(because of NO ATTENDANT which was to be provided) to show the side rail unlocking mechanism. The trip was stressful. I HAD MADE CRYSTAL CLEAR that we were both 1st time renters/ haulers of any kind. The truck I was provided had a check engine light come on halfway through my move and the engine was making loud noises, it felt unreliable and unsafe to drive- when the truck was returned and I explained the situation to the representative at the drop off location they said it is documented to have engine issues and they are waiting on the parts to fix it. Completely irresponsible and unprofessional and unethical to rent KNOWN and DOCUMENTED faulty equipment. I found that my rental had been siphoned of all of the fuel, so the clerk inside adjusted my paperwork to reflect the proper amount in the tank as it had previously been a lot more.KIETH D.

P although the lady was nice enough to extend our you call for two extra days. Due to the fact that they never actually check the maintenance on the vehicles made it extremely annoying to drive. We had a bad TPMS sensor with a bad broken valve stem which this location didn't even check for him just sent the vehicle on its way. On top of that we had to deal with a bad gas cap do to the vibration which is fine crapped out or gas mileage. But the worst part of it all was the fact that I couldn't keep the vehicle straight on the road. You can definitely tell that they just put some air in it and sent this truck on its way.Anastasia W.

once I could get through to the actual location, Ashlee in customer service was exceptional! she is the best! give her a raise :-) I would love if you would explain more clearly that the big 6x12 trailer can only hold 520 pounds regardless of your cars tow capacity, as the little 5x8 can hold 900 pounds so depending what you are moving it is a big issue. Also the trailer right blinker light went out which I guess can not be predicted but made driving more strenuous :-/.Deborah N.

I would recommend this location for storage. My truck rental, not so good. I had a reservation but no truck. After an hour of waiting, because the card reader failed several times, I rented a 20ft truck with a bad catalytic converter. Ran horribly, hesitated and was So loud you could not have a conversation or the windows down. The check engine light came on shortly after driving off the lot. Every step of my move was made more difficult because of U-Haul. The third party site U-Haul uses for movers, loaders, and distribution of the U-Boxes is atrocious due to lack of communication and convoluted service options. I wanted to receive the box, load it, and have it taken back all in the same day. For some reason, this was impossible to achieve. I had little to no communication from the companies U-Haul suggested, and all of the communication I had was due to me reaching out.Â I had to cancel and rebook each step of my move because of lack of this communication and lack of being able to change what I wanted through the website. At one point, I had no one scheduled to pick up my U-Box and deliver it to me in Oregon, however, U-Haul insisted I did. The website did not show it on my end, but showed it on U-Haul's end. After talking to three different people, and wasting an hour, U-Haul realized it was a glitch in their system and I in fact did not have anyone to pick up the box. Thank goodness I advocate for myself and double check things or else I would have been screwed over. Â My U-Haul box arrived without locks and the day before it arrived I was informed I had to get a permit for it to be on the street. I was appalled about how poorly everything was handled and communicated. They took an already stressful situation andÂ made it much worse. I will never use U-Haul again.Elaine S.

I had requested a 26ft truck but was told the night before the only way I could get one was if I drove 50 miles to pick one up. The only solutions offered were to get 2 15ft trucks with a 20% discount or a 20ft truck. I was assured that a 20ft truck would fit all of my items and with professional packers it did not. This was an absolute nightmare in every step. The box didn't arrive when scheduled for loading. The movers never showed. We had to rush in 24 to load it and get it to the center in order to reach our delivery time. There was no tracking information for when our box would arrive. When the box was late nobody had information on when it should arrive. Leaving my family sleeping on the floor with none of our stuff. After unloading the box, nobody came to pick up the box despite us telling the driver to come the next day. You guys have got to do better.Conner C.

The ramp coming out of the storage facility closest to Columbia Blvd. is quite steep and a couple times we even lost control of the furniture cart and had it go down the ramp by itself and some items fell off. Also, the parking/loading area near the storage facility is too tight: the spaces are small and there's not much room to load and often the spots are full of cars from other uhaul customers who are not loading/unloading to the storage units.Jessica R. | Overall Experience

THE FRUSTRATING: 1) Access code was clear & rcvd quickly, however it was nearly impossible to locate my unit with available signage. No unit maps posted in storage area. Had to visit office for help. They gave me a paper map--so not at all contact free. 2) We moved a completely full 15' truck--furniture, boxes. The access to my unit was up a winding ramp and through 2 regular size doors which were difficult at best to prop open. The location has many dock doors, all locked and unavailable for customer use (I was told by office). Told it was a "liability issue". Moving up that ramp was a bigger liability issue IMO. Took 2 hours to load truck for long distance move and 4 hrs to unload to storage. THE GOOD: 1) Staff was friendly. 2) Unlimited, free use of moving "carts". 3) Building & unit were clean and well-maintained 4) Free filtered water available in office. My only complaint is that the person I originally spoke with and made agreements with, over the phone, failed to note the arrangements/agreements so that when I arrived to pick up van the person at desk had no idea and though I was 'in the system' the details of time/days and mileage were not. Thankfully the clerk was unruffled when I pointed out the difference between her contract and the agreement/arrangement made previous day over phone with the manager.
