windshiield was dirty and on the trip we hit several rain storms. wipers skipped and never really cleaned the windshield. its dangerous when you can't see in a rain storm. Took ud 200 milrd find a rattle. it was empty soda cans. i tried to never travel in the insidel lane and keep the RPM in the low 2000. Didn't matter the speed, incline or decline or flat, the RPM would jump as much as 700 and stay remain. At times throttle adjust would bring the RPM down, but not always. At night could not see the tach or speedometer, only the odometer. It was just dark, nothing was illuminated and i had no idea of RPM, speed, temp or gas level. this truck was not ready for rental and was dangereous. .John L.

I have rented at least 40 times from U-Haulâ€˜s and this is the first one that asked for a reference but also had to talk to them to rent to me. So if they haven't reached my reference I couldn't rent. This is ridiculous, I have six credit cards and can verify who I am so this is the last time all right from U-Haul.Daniel M.

My only negative comment is that I was charged for not quite "guessing" how much gas to put in. What happened to filling it when returning it? Trying to guess how much to put in to get it to "just under 1/4" is crazy. The truck I'd rented earlier in the week was returned with more than a 1/4 tank extra, but I was charged on this one for being 1/8 of a tank low.Debbie D.

It would be helpful to get a text before the drivers arrive so we can be present or move cars, or in one case get the locks off as the driver was two house early, which is wonderful, but had to wait while we got all the locks off and blankets back in the uboxes. The inside of our windshield was absolutely filthy. We had no idea it was filmy until we were driving at sunset, towards the sun. The smeary film was not visible in regular daylight when we did our vehicle check prior to taking off from the facility. It was so terribly dirty that we couldn't even see, at times, due to the sun glare off the film. This created an unsafe situation. We unfortunately were in the mountains when the issue of the sun glare arose so we had no opportunity to stop and clean the inner windshield for better visibility. It was very disappointing that there are signs inside the van warning of potential cleaning fees imposed on customers if the van is returned dirty in any way, yet we were rented a van with a dirty windshield which resulted in a dangerous drive. It was equally disappointing when sharing this with the manager at drop off due to her initial response of asking us â€œwell did you make note of it on the initial vehicle inspection?â€ with a rather curt tone. And then went on to suggesting it was due to potential smoke from wildfires. We informed her it wasn't wildfire related since it was on the inside of the car's windshield and wasn't visible during our inspection since it only became an issue when driving during sunset related to the sun glare. We went on to inform her that this was a true safety issue and wanted her to know about our experience so this doesn't happen to another family. She softened her tone and apologized for us having to deal with this issue and then said that there were lots of new employees and she would make sure there was retraining. Thinking about it now, after having already dropped it off, I think we should have at the very least been offered the cleaning fee that they would have charged me if I returned it dirty. After all, I had to do their job by cleaning the inner windshield prior to returning it, so I could drive safely for the remained of my rental.Cindy N.

My staff member repeatedly attempted to personalize and compete with me over a simple disagreement about the level of gas in my vehicle. The bad: Our stuff arrived two weeks after the guaranteed arrival date. The staff would not give us a location or eta. They were disorganized and rude. The good: the forklift driver was awesome. I have filed a complaint. They put me in an unsafe situation where I almost got hit in the street when my rental stalled out in a vehicle they knew had no gas on a very fast moving traffic road ridden with speeding big rigs. Instead of immediately putting me in a new van they told me to drive to a gas station on an empty tank. THEN suggested I call roadside assistance even though I was just across the street before I protested and they finally sent someone with a gas can. I understand that gas theft is not their fault but the way this was handled was not right. It's not my responsibility to do their job and check the gas. This situation caused me extreme stress and triggered a panic attack.Jannie H.

The rep I worked with when picking up my rental truck was friendly and helpful. She walked me through all the steps and let me know how to extend my rental drop-off time, if needed. Everything was clearly explained, and I was able to pick up the truck and get out the door quickly. The only thing I would do to improve the experience would be to make the vehicle inspection app a little more user-friendly. I accidentally hit a submit button, where I was looking for a "back" button. But the sun was bright, and "user error" was certainly part of the problem. I would suggest not doing a reservation through uhaul, since several hours before they changed my reservation they promised me.... it cost me and hour and a half longer for the move I planned. Unfortunately the company is too large to care about the customer and their needs but to pump out as many moving trucks as they can. Hopefully they can improve their reservation service and have the trucks promised.Trevor S.

The Uhual employees were excellent. The truck was returned with only 8 miles of gas left and the windows were spattered with bugs- the back had not been swept out. I did not need the additional stress of hoping I would not run out of gas by the time a made the nearest gas station. Monique from Columbia Blvd was beyond phenomenal from the very beginning of me utilizing the storage units. There were dropped balls from another facility at the last minute after a 3000 cross country drive in a 26 foot truck. We had made reservations a week in advance for a big unit to store everything in the 26 ft truck we were driving from the east coast. We arrived as planned and met our hired workers at the facility to unload. However the Milwaukee,Oregon facility on Mcgloughlin blvd manager told us they did not have our unit available nor any extras with no explanation as to why as a matter of fact he was extremely rude and stressed and short with us and dismissed us…. It was late and we we were exhausted. I called corporate immediately and we had to keep the truck over night. The next morning Monique called back and immediate went into action. She planned everything and problem solved and rectified the situation . During the most outrageous time in the world (a pandemic) and not to mention there was a major total renovation at this property at Columbia Blvd uhaul in PDX . I was treated with compassion and respect and always very professionally. If there was ever a situation or problem I always was able to reach out to Monique and she would manage her team accordingly. I have had so many personal issues since my transition to Portland with the unexpected COVID pandemic . These situations affected me personally and professionally as well as financially. Not once did Monique or her team ever make me feel anything but valuable as a client. Monique has been extremely professional and showed extreme humanity through her strict diligence laced with upmost compassion and empathy all with a direct and firm respect for her guidelines. I’m so thankful for Monique making my experience wonderful despite all the chaos involved. Also in closing there was a new manager named Aimee at Columbia Blvd store who was extremely professional and kind and definitely attentive in doing her best to answer all questions and help me move out properly all while multitasking with other clients and employees who all needed her attention. She did it with a smile and great time management and a great girl by the name of Alesha next to her. My overalls experience has been met with great respect and gratitude for the team at Columbia Blvd under Monique’s leadership. A very good and straightforward operation. All of the workers that I encountered were on task and helpful. The facility was clean and well maintained. Of special note was an older black woman perhaps n her 30s who seemed to be key to that world running as smoothly as it did. But, I never had a bad employee encounter. Thanks to all who work there as dealing w/a public who are in transition can not be easy. Finally, the homeless are thick on the ground in that part of Portland but I was never troubled by them. Facilities at extra space storage are much nicer and more convenient all around. The pathway leading to the u-haul storage is busted and makes it extremely difficult pushing storage carts in and out (your items may fall off and become damaged) lighting could definitely use improvement and there’s barely any parking seeing 9 or so spots and at least 3 always seem to have a u-haul van in them that’s not in use. When I was late on my payment I called when I finally could make a payment and when I went to access my storage unit it still had a delinquent lock 12 days later and the employees working there all seemed to have attitudes and tried to get snarky and says they remove locks when people pay (which I had many days following my needing access to my unit which put me out more time than I anticipated) all around would not recommend for anyone looking for a good storage space experience definitely take notes from your competitors they’re doing things right.
