I wasn't able to pick up my rental until several hours after the pick up time I scheduled it for. The staff made minimal efforts to assist and generally seemed confused. I wasn't offered another truck until I specifically asked if they had anything available that I could have instead of the original truck they had booked me with. There are homeless people living in the Uhaul trailers and trucks at this location! Several open trucks with food, feces!!!, clothing, etc in them! Unbelievable! Someone higher up needs to take care of this situation immediately. Even worse, the woman working there when I arrived to pick up was seriously unprofessional. For example, she completely ignored me when I first arrived and asked a question. Then I asked about the dolly I had rented, and she told me to go inside to the back of the office, â€œand if thar's a dawlly back thar bah the coffee pot, you can use it. I ran into a problem, I loaded the U-Haul with all of my belongings and was supposed to return the uhaul at 10:30am but the storage facility that I was going to use didn't open until 10:00am, but the Manger was running late and didn't open up until 10:18am. I called and tried to get an extension but couldn't because the U-Haul had already been rented out to someone else for that afternoon. The manager at U-Haul said it would be an extra $29.99 to keep the U-Haul after 10:30am but that if I had it there by 3:30pm I wouldn't be charged for an extra day, so I returned the U-Haul around 1:pm and was still charged for an extra day by milage. There is no actual security gate limiting property access. The initial unit we were offered (and declined) was actually frightening...dark, did not seem each space was secure as someone could climb over the dividing walls. The outdoor access unit had a bit of a moisture problem, but we worked around it. There was nothing damaged when we cleared the unit, either by water or pests. This is a review of U-Haul, the company, not the local store front in either Hattiesburg or Petal, Mississippi. I attempted to rent my truck using the app. I got confirmation on the app and the â€œguaranteeâ€ that my equipment would be available. I checked with the location Friday before the Saturday I was supposed to pick up, they said they would not have a truck in time Friday afternoon for me to pick up with the app Saturday morning. I was also guaranteed that I would have a utility dolly and an appliance dolly. I had the utility dolly but not the appliance dolly. I rented that from the Petal, Mississippi location, Storage Choice. Doug Smalley went above and beyond to help And I accidentally left a negative review on his site. Storage choice in Petal, MS is where you want to do business. I don't know that I have any problems with U-Haul rental and storage on W. 7th St. in Hattiesburg, I do have a problem with U-Haul. When I returned Saturday night and attempted to return the equipment on the app, the app was going to charge me full price again. I had paid it that morning. When I called U-Haul Sunday morning, the lady assured me I would be charged the $20 fee, said it was in my contract! It was also in my contract that I was guaranteed to pick up at 6:00 AM Saturday morning. That did not happen. UHaul hung their local store out to dry on this one. When I got there Saturday morning, best case was that I would leave 90 minutes after my original time. The equipment was broken down. The lady there at the W. 7th St. location in Hattiesburg, got me another truck, and I left a little over two hours after my original time. My problem is with U-Haul's attempting to charge me a $20 â€œconvenience feeâ€œ because I did not check in on the app and allow them to charge me twice on that equipment. I have said I would never do business with U-Haul again, I will absolutely do business with Doug Smalley in Petal, Mississippi at Storage Choice. I accidentally left the negative review with Storage Choice and Petal, completely accidental and I apologize to Doug.Frank L.

This was the worst possible experience imaginable. My 7am reservation for a 15' truck was far from being honored. I wasn't offered any solution other than to come back at 10am. Meanwhile I received a call telling me that a 15' truck was available, that I had to be the one to pick it up from its holding location over an hour away. Once I came back at 10, the employee offered me either a 15' truck or a cargo van, both of which needed to be returned in less than 24 hours. Mind you, I was moving to another state so this was obviously a horrible solution. Next, I was finally offered a 26' truck for the cost of the 15'. I mean, I suppose this was fine but 26' is quite the overkill for a one bedroom apartment. I was finally able to get on the road around 4pm. I pulled into Birmingham well after my storage unit facility closed, forcing me to upgrade to 24 hour access which wasn't an available option until the following day. I had to drive my 26' honker of a truck 20 minutes out of the way to stay with someone in town, having to figure out how to park basically a big rig on a residential street. Needless to say, the next morning was just a bad. It had heavily rained the day before causing this monster of a Uhaul vehicle to now be stuck in the mud. Uhaul dispatched a tow truck after being on hold for well over an hour. I had to wait another almost 2 hours for them to get here to help me get unstuck. Then, what do you know? The Uhaul insurance that I so dutifully paid for didn't even cover roadside assistance. What was supposed to be an early, day trip of a move turned into the most nightmarish, expensive 48 hours full of inconvenience, all of which could have been avoided if my 15' truck at 7am was available from the beginning. Also, please tell Belinda Bull in Hattiesburg to have a better attitude, or better yet, any sort of attitude.Whitson R.

They need to get their reservations under control. We reserved in laurel and then was referred to Taylorsville and then to Hattiesburg. I estimated 120 miles for the laurel reservation and us moving our stuff. So the fact that I had to go to Hattiesburg added 60 extra miles to my bill. Plus it is so stupid that you can't drop the uhaul off at an alternate location that may be closer to you. I had a terrible experience with the actual â€œuhaulâ€ policies. Not the actual location. Plus I was charged 39.95 to keep it an additional day on Sunday. But Sunday when I called to see if I could keep it til Monday I was told it would be an extra 142!!!!!??? Why is this? Why did I have to pay 100 dollars over what I was told originally. Also we paid for the extra insurance which was suppose to be 18 dollars and was charge 84 dollars for 3 days for that extra insurance. Needless to say, we will not be renting another uhaul unless it can be picked up and dropped off at different locations or pick up/drop off is miles away from the moving location.Ryan L.
