Frederick MI first accidently went to the Uhaul located at 433 Rainer Ave N. The network was down nation wide on Saturday. The store manager, Maluofiti Leiato was so calm, cool and professional handling the stressful situation of checking each customer in and manually entering the information. Most people would have been stressed and unpleasant to deal with, but he was a pro.

James DI haven’t even stepped foot in my storage unit, I had to purchase storage through another company that actually let me go when I needed to and had more knowledgeable staff. I was told that there was after hours storage by a very helpful staff member, but when I went to go use the after hours storage I was told to leave. I had to spend so much extra money just because the employees couldn’t get their story straight. The office hours don’t line up at all with my work schedule so I never even got a chance to go use my unit. Management needs to do a better job of educating employees on when customers can access the facility. The facility also wouldn’t answer calls. Their number routes to the U-Haul main line and when U-Haul tried to call them they just never picked up. Do your jobs!!!

I got to my location where I needed to load it up and there was a padlock on the back of it so I sent one of my workers to go pick up the key and they wouldn’t give it to him. I had to drive the U-Haul all the way back to the U-Haul place just for them to open the lock when they were just gonna cut it off anyways cause the key wasn’t working And I didn’t receive any kind of rebate for the extra, probably 20 miles, I had to drive to come back for a mistake that you guys made by not telling me there was a lot to begin with. It took an extra two hours just to get it open.

DAVID GAll of your employees did an amazing job but I just want to give an extra special “Thank You”, to Angie. We rented the wrong size trailer for what we needed to move and I picked it up towards the end of the day. when I called the store, close to closing time, I told her that I was 25 min away and she stayed open for me to get the correct one. She went above and beyond to help me out and that saved us a lot of time & work that night and the next morning as we prepared to move my Mom from Seattle to Spokane. She helped turn a stressful situation and turned it into a wonderful experience. I hope this review is shared with both her and her manager. She is the type of employee that you should be looking for and she deserves a raise. That is what customer service is all about.
SEAN HThe guy connected two trailers before realizing the light issue was due to the piece that connects the vehicle wiring to the trailer wiring. We were running late already because the first trailer we reserved (in Everett) wasn’t returned so we had to change plans. We somehow got charged $10 extra for a trailer I had to drive 30 miles to get. It was frustrating. Everyone was nice, but the company needs to get their stuff together.
DANIEL HMy quote said $0.89 per mile. I was charged $1.10 per mile. In my reservation I declined Safe Move coverage, but I was charged for Safe Move coverage and the person who helped me didn't even mention it.

KARINA MI have been renting from the Ranier Valley location for more than 20 years. Typically, the managers and operators are stressed and short (I understand this propensity given that they can't control people who are returning vehicles late, theft and dealing with customers that are in stressful points during their life such as moving, ..._ The last couple times I have rented from the Ranier Valley location, the employees and manager have been exceptional interms of their response time, their positive attitude and returning equipment - keep up the great work (current management and employees of Ranier Valley U-Haul locations)

Karen KI rent here frequently. A busy place, so you just plan ahead. The employees here are always so friendly and helpful. And I always appreciate doing business with happy employees. The manager at this location is great. He is so kind, and helpful and he helps the other employees. In fact, I was being checked in by someone who was fairly new, and his fellow employee helped him process my order. Both were so kind. When I returned the equipment, I was greeted by the same happy employees, and the manager helped me unload the trailer. I smiled as I was on my way as it was just a great experience. Keep these guys here as I want to do business with them!

SHUMET MThe fuel tank on my truck was busted! When I rolled out the parking lot the tank was empty so I went to fill the fuel and it all poured out into the ground in splashes. I was given a new truck but I was baffled you don’t have a fence at that location. That was something I’ve never experienced before.
QUIANA RWe were charge incorrectly. There’s a case open and we should get resolution in 3 days but we’re pretty angry about it.

The person who helped me check on my U-Haul was super kind and helpful, and the person who checked me out when I asked them if my parking job was okay (it was terrible!) was simultaneously just as cool and happily sent me on my way. Honestly, really appreciated. I was stressed about this move but have used UHaul many times and you always come through. This was a really excellent experience. Thank you.

PETER DThe van was very dirty when we opened up the back there was three blankets back there and used condoms like someone had been sleeping in the back. Said there was a half a tank of gas it was only a quarter tank of gas I put in $30 took it above half a tank. Customer service said there was nothing we could do about the gas. I'm sure there was something that could have been done.

Sydney LI was charged for 61 miles of driving, when I drove 8.8 miles. I will be pursuing a refund, as well as disputing the transaction with my bank account. I am dissatisfied with this experience, and will not be recommending this location, especially if this error is not resolved.
CADENCE Sthe cargo vans with the cloth seats were a bit (pet)hairy- the employees were super cool about letting me swap to a different van (which also had pet hair). but overall, customer service 11/10- everyone i’ve interacted with at this location is awesome.

KANG LNot nearly enough employees to handle the crush of people on a Saturday morning. No attempt to have assigned equipment pulled out and ready to go. No attempt at getting reserved supplies (blankets and dollies). I was fortunate to get there early and got the last 2 bags of blankets. BTW, the truck was dirty on the inside to the point of being unhealthy = this is typical UHaul.
Steven EReceived scam-like penalties when returning the vehicle, racking up $30 dollars in charges that were totally ridiculous (i.e. forgetting to fold two of the six blankets that I rented for $5 and was charged $25 for them not being folded. They weren’t even folded or cleaned when they were provided to me!) I already posted my sentiments in a one-star Google review, which you couldn’t even pay me to remove after the experience I had speaking with someone at the location on the phone about these charges. I hope this location gets shut down.

MATTHEW LSubject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Poor Service & Unfair Charges – Dispute #5201126 Dear U-Haul Customer Service, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at the U-Haul Rainier location. My experience was marked by unprofessional behavior, system issues, and an overall lack of customer care. On 3/9/25, I rented a 17-ft truck, but upon realizing it would not fit the easement of my apartment garage, I promptly returned it after driving only one mile (0.5 miles to my apartment and back). The check-in process took an excessive 25-30 minutes due to ongoing system issues. Despite the minimal use of the vehicle, I was charged the full rental amount. I then attempted to rent a 15-ft truck, only to encounter the same issue. Again, I immediately returned it, explaining the situation to both the employee assisting me (Porsha) and the manager. Rather than assisting me in transferring to the correct size, the manager stated that because I had taken the vehicle off the lot, I would be charged in full. While I understand paying for mileage, being charged full price for two trucks that I could not use is completely unreasonable. Additionally, the customer service I received was unacceptable. Porsha repeatedly used profanity in front of customers, stating, “U-Haul is cheap as sht and won’t invest in the necessary technology.”* Despite her unprofessionalism, the manager did not intervene or offer any correction. Furthermore, Porsha booked my second reservation using her personal phone, manually entering my credit card information and taking photos of my driver’s license—raising serious security and privacy concerns. I contacted customer service and was given dispute #5201126, but I have yet to receive a fair resolution. As a courtesy and in good faith, I would have appreciated some level of flexibility or customer retention effort. Instead, I was met with indifference and a complete lack of professionalism. Given this experience, I no longer feel comfortable renting from U-Haul and plan to share my experience publicly with my 200,000 social media followers. However, I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this matter directly. I request: A refund for at least one of the full rental charges, given that I was unable to use the trucks. A review of the unprofessional behavior exhibited by the employees, especially regarding inappropriate language and unauthorized use of personal devices for transactions. Assurance that proper training and corrective measures will be taken at this location. Please let me know how U-Haul intends to address this situation. I appreciate your prompt response. The truck was super clean, the staff at the desk was knowledgeable, kind and patient. We were in and out in the time it took us to run our credit card. Return was just as fast and friendly. This location is doing a fabulous job. Love the staff.

I paid the first month yet am super disappointed that the online promotion was setup that way and resulted in not only customer frustration and inconvenience but also unnecessary time and energy for staff (and management) involvement to smooth out. I feel like this is something that can be resolved so it does not continue to happen for future potential customers. I hope that there will be efforts taken to honor the *promise* of a comped months storage rental fee for the exact type of storage space I have at this time.

Maybe I happened to go at busy times or maybe they’re understaffed, but the gate to access the lockers was never open during the morning business hours when I’d arrive. It’s time consuming to find someone to unlock an access every morning you arrive, especially when you’re busy moving. Communication could also be improved. There was a lock left on my locker the day I rented. Was told it would be removed that evening and be ready to move in the next day. It wasn’t removed or ready when I arrived with a trailer full of furniture. Staff couldn’t unlock it. They said they would call a locksmith. I was given a temporary small locker. Called that evening to see if the locksmith came, but they hadn’t even called yet. Granted, they were busy, but that was supposed to be taken care of the day before. I had to spend more time moving furniture from one temporary locker to the rental. It’s hard enough to coordinate help and transport when moving, and U-Haul did not make the process any easier. .
