Since I got there after they closed, it's difficult to give a review. I have one suggestion, and it comes from having used U-Haul many times before the advent of smart phones. It would have been better to get some forewarning about the online-drop-off process (that it takes 20 minutes, and that you'll need your phone all charged up at the end of a long trip). It went fine once I went back to the gas station to add more fuel to charge my phone while idling in the U-Haul truck... : )

The woman who helped me get checked out was extremely helpful and friendly. The pickup truck was clean and in good condition. One minor suggestion would be to always send out trucks with full fuel tanks so it's easier to know how much they need to be refilled (mine was about 5/8 full and I had to guess how much gas I used when refueling to get it back up to that level).

I showed up to U-Haul moving and storage off of Rainier to drop off my rental truck right around the time I was scheduled to drop it off at. I believe I was scheduled at 9:15 and I pulled into the lot at 9:20 after hitting a little bit of traffic. The return station lane was being impeded by two stalled U-Haul trucks so after waiting a while for them to move I pulled my truck into an open space in the lot. When I was walking to the front office a man in a not very welcoming tone asked me why I parked the truck where I did and then I pointed out that there were two trucks blocking the lane to return my truck. This whole process of explaining and parking took about ten minutes. After he did a brief inspection of the truck he told me I was done and I went on my way. I got back into my car and left the lot thinking that everything was fine. Later that day though I checked my bank account and I had a $60 charge on my account that wasn't my original account. Well it turns out that I was charged a late fee for pulling into a lot where I couldn't park my truck initially and getting dinged $60 for being 5 minutes late. When I called the store to try and talk to someone I was told a manager would call me and nobody ever did. I then called back later the night and was transferred to customer service and am now waiting to hear from a customer service representative in the next few days. I understand that there is a designated time to be back but being charged $60 for 5 minutes over the time that I was supposed to be there is infuriating. Not to mention the customer service from the beginning to the end was terrible. I have used U-Haul once or twice a year for the last 15 years but this experience may make it my last.

The lady who checked me out was rude. She also made a mistake and put my return date for not enough days. When I went back to get it changed all she did was email someone and say I would get an email with the new approved return date. I never received an email. So I spent about 40 min calling around to get the date changed. Also when I went to go return my uhaul, the place on my receipt did not have space for my uhaul so I was forced to drive to another location.

Before I picked up my van from the Rainier Valley location, I had a terrible ordeal with self-checkout at the 1st Ave, Seattle location. That was a horrible experience and hope that no one else has to go through that

The lady at the front counter (bigger blonde with glasses) was super rude. She didn't even walk me around the truck to check, she just handed me a clip board and told me what to do. The truck was under my significant other's name and reserved under his name, yet I had to pay for it since he wasn't there. She was so rude at explaining policy. Never using this uhaul again and making sure anyone in the south end of seattle never does either. I can't believe how poor your customer service is and how expensive this poor service ended up. Waste of money.

Give those guys some more help at that location. It's extremely busy and they do a good job but it's hard to manage and you just end up with unsatisfied customers.

What you need to do is simple. You have a virtual monopoly. Charge more, staff more. Otherwise someone will take your spot. Variable pricing for different geographies? It's too cheap, and the service reflects it. This is not a critism of the employees at my dental location...they are simply asked to do too much, with too little.

Pre-registration did not really reduce the pick up time, they still were not ready and we were at zero. But having a reservation did reduce the wait.
