The location itself was fine. This new "truck share" app needs work. The main thing was the "verification". So, it's 6:00am before the location was open, and they needed me to provide a personal contact to "verify me". This would have been OK except that it was not mentioned ANYWHERE in the instructions or website until I was standing there trying to sign out the truck (probably in the fine print somewhere). So, I had to call around and wake someone up so that U-haul could verify me. For what? So that I am not stealing their truck when they already have my driver's license and credit card? So, it took an extra 10-15 minutes because of that, I was not happy. Also, I know the "daily rental rate" does not include other charges such as tax, and insurance. But, when $29.99 turns into $133.00 when I only had the truck for 3 hours and 38 miles, it is a bit ridiculous. For $200 I could have a moving company come with two guys and a truck for 2 hours (I called around). I was expecting that I would maybe be into $60-$70 (still double the advertised rate). It's the $1.79 PER MILE that really adds up fast. It would not take a long move for that to turn into hundreds of dollars. Overall between the website and the app, you have to learn all the little quirks of their system and you have NO idea how much it is going to cost, so you can't budget for it. So, if you are going to offer "24/7 access by app" that is a good idea. But clearly state what is required first, or have people to go to a U-Haul location first to be "verified" or something so that there are no surprises if you need to pick up the truck at 3:00am or something. And how about a "no nonsense pricing" setup where you put in your destination(s), insurance, etc. and you get the real price up front. You are not fooling anyone; you are just causing everyone to think twice before they even want to mess with it next time.

How U-Haul Reviews WorkThe UHaul employee (Jeremiah) did a great job, but UHaul itself sucks and I'll never use them again or recommend them to anyone. The 10 ft. truck clearly posts a $19.95 in town/per day price, so taking it out of town couldn't be that much more, right? WRONG. $234.00 net cost to use the truck for 7 hours and drive only 102 miles, not including gas. Rip off. Never again.
Steven PExcellent t service and good will.
Memy II received exemplary service from Jeremiah. Incredibly helpful and very clear about the different options. A credit to the company.
Duncan WThe rental equipment was not available for me to use on arrival after being charged for it but the location sent me a refund immediately. The location had good service but my issue has not been solved by U-Haul. At the return at a different location, U-Haul charged me $480 for the “missing equipment” I never received.
