I am writing to formally raise concerns regarding my recent experience with this location. The issue began with what appeared to be a bait-and-switch situation, where I was charged for a storage unit that had been represented as free for the first month. After bringing this discrepancy to the attention of staff, I was advised—after the employee consulted with the manager, Paul—that the charge could not be refunded, but that the following month could be provided at no cost. This proposed resolution did not reflect the terms that were originally advertised. I advised the employee that if the advertised offer could not be honored, I would need to escalate the matter. They again confirmed that the original terms could not be honored. I contacted customer service and was advised the matter would be escalated; however, I did not receive a timely response from a general manager. Because the issue remained unresolved, I delayed moving items into the unit and submitted a complaint, along with an online review reflecting my experience. Following this, the situation escalated in a highly concerning manner. Staff contacted my husband and made statements alleging that I had made threats, which is not accurate. He was told that he was “lucky” the rental truck was not in my name or law enforcement would have been contacted to retrieve it, and was also told he needed to “get his wife under control.” He was further informed that the storage unit rental had already been closed. I was also informed through my husband that I would no longer be permitted to do business at this location and that staff would no longer answer my calls. The suggestion that law enforcement would be used under these circumstances—where no wrongdoing had occurred and we were attempting to resolve a billing dispute—raises serious concern. This conduct raises concerns about the potential misuse of law enforcement in a manner that could reasonably be perceived as intimidating to a customer acting in good faith. Such actions may implicate consumer protection concerns under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code § 17.46), which prohibits false, misleading, or deceptive acts, including misrepresentations in connection with services. Additionally, the use of threats involving law enforcement in a civil or contractual dispute may expose both the business and, in certain circumstances, the individuals involved to personal liability if such conduct is found to be coercive, deceptive, or made without a lawful basis. This is particularly concerning where such statements are directed at customers who are attempting to resolve a dispute in good faith and in accordance with the advertised terms. During this interaction, the employee also stated that she had been with the company for eight years and was “not going anywhere,” even with a complaint filed. This statement, combined with the overall tone of the interaction, reflected a disregard for accountability and appropriate customer service standards. While I do acknowledge that the payment for the unit—made by my grandmother—was ultimately refunded following the cancellation of the rental, the manner in which this occurred—after the unit had already been closed and in the context of the preceding interactions—was unprofessional and inappropriate. It is concerning that, after being notified of a potentially improper charge related to a “free for the first month” promotion, the response appeared to involve escalation and adverse action rather than resolution. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed internally, including the conduct of staff and adherence to proper customer service standards and consumer protection expectations. Given that calls may be recorded, I request that all call recordings and related communications associated with this matter be preserved and retained to ensure a complete and accurate record in resolving this dispute. I would prefer to resolve this matter directly; however, I am prepared to pursue further review through appropriate consumer protection channels if necessary. I would appreciate follow-up regarding any findings or corrective actions taken.

From the moment we checked in (July 2025) to when we checked out in October, Suzanne and Paul were professional and friendly in our interactions with them. Paul called us the first day to inform that our lock was not put on correctly, so I appreciated that they monitor the storage units to ensure safety and security. Our truck rental was also seamless and facilitated for a smooth moving experience.

When power was restricted to short windows per day, my RV was not able to maintain the batteries properly - the same battery model that lasted 3-4 years under constant trickle charge was only lasting about 18 months with the sporadic charging allowed by the outlet timers. Not the end of the world, but certainly not ideal.
