RAYMOND A | Overall ExperienceI had been renting my unit since Aug 2009, never missing a payment even after all the increases & when I was unemployed living in other states. I recently moved back to L.A. & recently am homeless due to a health crisis. I can no longer afford the storage unit referenced above. I called in April to report I was trying to get a friend (a professional mover) who rents another unit from this company to clean out mine for me. I told James THEN that I no longer wished to occupy/pay for another month. In May, (though I was paid through my due date) I got a “reminder” of my rent coming due. I was unable to get the rest of my things (mostly of no value) out & I called 5 days prior to my due date to cancel & told them to trash my stuff. James said I would be charged a cleaning fee but not another rental charge. He LIED about that. My bank account was overdrawn within 2 hours of his lie. I scraped up enough cash to cover the overage, got on a bus (since I live out of a borrowed car) & put the money in the ATM. What was most insulting was sometime during those years of renting (& perhaps after I was forced to pay renters insurance) I found clothing (leather coats & shoes) that had been rain damaged & chewed through by rodents) the few times I’d returned over the years. Including last year. I never filed a complaint or reported the disrepair of the unit, as there wasn’t a mgr there after I’d found my damaged belongings nor was there a “timely” manner to resolve this issue. In conclusion I will recommend people in Taos rent from their competitors, if there are any or pay anyone else to store there extra belongings! I’m thinking about giving Hinds n’ Hinds a negative Yelp review as a warning to others since I was LIED to. I wish I had THAT recording!

MILES B | Overall ExperienceMaverick and other staff were *great* -- very professional and courteous -- and everything else was accommodating and convenient EXCEPT FOR BUG INFESTATION of my boxes! I was extremely disappointed and it was the first time in *many* moves that I experienced such an annoying and disgusting outcome. I'm sorry to have to write this, but I wanted to be honest, so "average" rating. As mentioned, every single person I interacted with over the telephone or in person was AWESOME, so thanks for that. Just the *opposite* for the bugs...AWFUL!!!
