Sarah LHi, I’m contacting you regarding the fuel charge on my recent U-Haul rental. When I picked up the truck, the representative specifically instructed me to return the truck with a full tank. I followed the instructions I was given and returned the truck based on that information. I now understand that U-Haul’s policy is to return the vehicle with the same fuel-gauge reading as when it was dispatched, rather than necessarily returning it completely full. Had I been given the correct instructions at pickup, I would have followed the fuel level stated on my rental contract. Because I relied on the instructions provided by your representative, I’m requesting that the fuel charge and any associated fueling/service fee be removed as a courtesy and that my account be adjusted accordingly. I’m happy to provide my rental contract and any other information needed to verify the original fuel level and rental details.
