I am frustrated with my U-haul experience. I originally booked a 15 foot truck to pick up in Frederick MD. This pick up location was 5 minutes from my house. I got a call later in the week saying they wanted to upgrade my truck for free to a 20 foot one. I was like that is fine whatever is easiest for you guys. I get a call the next day saying that to get the 20 foot truck I have to go all the way to Charlestown WV to pick it up, but that there was a 15 foot one still in Frederick if I wanted that. I called them back to let them know I would rather just have my original order (the 15 foot) and have a much closer pick up location. By the time I called them back, the 15 foot one was gone, and if I wanted a truck I had to go to Charlestown. I was moving in less than 24 hours, so I could not do anything about it. It added an hour of driving (to pick up and come back to our loading spot) instead of 10 minutes.

This was my first time using Cornerstone. Walked in and didn’t see anyone and no one came out to greet me even with the bells going off. I had to walk into the service area to find an employee. Check in went smoothly. Was told to hook up the trailer and bring it back up to the building to be inspected. I had to ask where the trailer was located and wasn’t offered any assistance with hooking it up. I drove it back up to the main building and had to go inside to inform him that was outside awaiting the inspection. I did my own light function test, the employee only checked to see if the locking device was secure. When I got home and dropped the tailgate, I realized that the trailer had nails, pieces of partial board, purple fish tank pebbles and sand/topsoil mixture in it. I should have checked it prior to leaving the facility but I had yet to have any issues with rental equipment from any other dealer. I returned the trailer clean and without issue at after hours drop off location.
PAMELA CThis location has a very personable, kind, and helpful representative employee. Thank you. He made my pickup quick, easy, and painless. The toy hauler connected with no issue, operated with no issue, and gave zero problems except for not including straps, which should be something Uhaul as a company should either include or make explicit on their website when selecting this trailer. For the location, please get thicker and sturdier straps. Unfortunately, one of my straps broke during the tow, but its because the left over strap was flailing in the air and tore off with the whipping of the wind. You need to sell larger 5,000+ lbs straps or those that actually wrap over the wheels.
