When I picked the truck up, a “Low Pressure Left Rear Tire” warning was present. I asked the manager about it and he said not to worry; I deferred to his judgment. I drove the truck about 60 miles to get a load of landscape rock; the weight of the rock was well within the limits of the truck. After loading the rock, I observed that the tire was basically flat. I limped to the nearest gas station to add air. The tire had only between 10 and 15 psi. I aired it up to 40psi, and then found the nearest U-Haul (different location from where I picked the truck up). At this time, the Low Pressure Left Rear Tire warning was still present. The very helpful U-Haul manager aired the tire up to 80psi; the recommended pressure. I finished using the truck with no warnings and no issues. Lesson learned: If the truck indicates an issue, don’t ignore it. I’ve generally had very good experiences with U-Haul, but I won’t be using this facility again; there are other U-Haul locations in the area.
