Charged a $5.19 cleaning fee for nothing...Truck was just like I got it and had more gas in it than when I got it..

As per our conversation on the 30 of SEP at 14:20. Brian Roberts of Pawn Daddy in Muscle Shoals, Alabama was supposed to be open at 10:00 when I tried to turn in my rental. I was 15 Minutes prior and stayed until 15 after. Knocked on every door and walked around back no one to be found. I put the keys in the drop box. We had appointments to get water, power and gas turned on in our new residence. My wife called him back a couple of hours later (Brian) to make sure everything was okay. It was on speaker. He was very rude and condescending to my wife. Made very rude comments about the back and cab of the vehicle not being very clean to my wife and since she rented the vehicle he was not aware I was involved. (Not one word about the fuel). He went on to say he had a customer waiting on it and would have to clean the vehicle himself and charge HER for it. Once we finished our appointments we drove back to his place of business. We waited as he was helping another customer loudly complaining about stupid ass people who do not clean their vehicles and so forth. I calmly waited my turn and informed him who I was. I told him what I was there to discuss the conversation he had with my wife on the phone… (I was trained in interrogation techniques). He immediately would not meet my eyes looking first down to the left and then the right clear signs on deception to the trained observer. I told him the bed was dirty when I picked it up as was the cab. I had actually cleaned the cab prior to leaving Clarksville, TN. He then said he found some dog fur on the seat. I said okay I will be happy to clean that give me some paper towels and some spray. He then said I already did it I have a person here that needs it. (Odd since I had turned it in early and had actually had it reserved through the next day) I asked where is the renter. He again would not meet my eyes before he replied they are on their way to get it. I said so it was not going right out the door a couple hours earlier? Again he would not meet my eyes going to his place before replying. If you have and issue call U-Haul he told. I said I will as I started for the door that I intended to get to the bottom of it as he was lying. He said something else hard to make out so I paused and looked at him and he had his hand below the counter glaring at me. He again said call U-Haul and mumbled under his breath still grasping something either on his belt or under the counter that I assumed to be a firearm. He then said whatever you say to them then you can say to me in a very loud and clear voice while still fumbling behind the counter obviously trying to intimidate me. As per his request I told him what I thought of him and walked out. I then called U-Haul Customer Service. (Contract #12034051). I got bounced around for over an hour and a half. I asked repeatedly to speak with someone that could help me. I was told his boss was an Area Manager called Keith Blue. I told the lady to have him call me and she said she would deliver the message. The next day no call. I called back and after another hour on the phone I was told he was on vacation. I asked who was covering down for him as I used to be a DM and AM for a large retail chain after I retired from the military. It was then I realized I was getting the same run around my old company used to do with upset customers. Just keep them bouncing around until they gave up in frustration. I was finally told Jeremiah Brown another FM. Guess what no call. I called again and turns out he was on vacation. Then later another rep told me he was actually not the one I needed to talk to. Now very upset I wanted to speak to anyone that could help me. I finally got another FM named Joy who said she was with corporate. I informed her that I wanted to speak to someone who could actually help me. She then said thanks and hung up! I called again and got the name Chuck Newell who was the Marketing President. I called his office and left a message on 30 SEP after hours with a message I needed to speak with him. When I did not receive a call back I called him around 1300 the next day 31 SEP. I go his secretary who informed me he was out of the office. She asked if I could help and I told her what was going on. She said well the two people they gave you are not the people who should have been talking as their positions were not even right. I asked her if the customer service reps actually knew what they are doing? I then told her to have Chuck call me as soon as possible as the owner (Brian Roberts) had now after the fact and never had mentioned it before added a fuel charge to the turn in. I was worried about what else he might add in retribution. I am a seven time combat VET with 26 years of Army Service to this country. I AM UTTERLY disgusted and appalled at such treatment and completely dumbfounded such a prestigious company such as U-Haul would allow such people to represent and work for them. REST ASSURED this will not stand as I am just now getting into this and have not even began to dig into this. I have been asking around local and reading reviews online.
