I appreciate that this U-Haul location opens at 7:00 AM. That early opening time was extremely convenient and worked well with my moving schedule. When I arrived at the gas station location, I asked the employee if I could rent a U-Haul truck. He asked if I had a reservation, and I told him I did not because I wasn’t aware one was required. He informed me that I could make a reservation online, so I completed the reservation on my phone. Afterward, he requested my identification. I handed it to him, and he walked to the other side of the counter to take a picture of it. He then came back and appeared to repeat the process. When he returned my ID, I extended my hand to receive it, but instead of handing it to me, he placed it on the counter. I asked if everything was okay and why he did not place it in my hand. He responded that he didn’t see my hand and added that some people don’t like being touched. While I understand people have different preferences, the interaction felt awkward and somewhat impersonal. I requested a dolly, but none were available. The employee reviewed the insurance coverage and other rental details, including mileage, fuel requirements, and an emergency contact number. Some of his communication was difficult to understand at first, and I had to ask him to repeat himself before realizing he was requesting an emergency contact. When I received the truck, I immediately noticed that the interior was not clean. There was dog hair throughout the cab, the steering wheel was sticky, and the cup holders and center console were dirty. I took photos of the truck before leaving. When I returned the truck, the same employee was working. He asked how everything went, and I told him it was fine overall. I handed him the keys and expected a checkout process or inspection. Instead, he informed me that it would take him a few hours to check in the truck but suggested that I complete the return myself through the app. As a result, I had to retrieve the keys from him, complete the return process, take the required photos, and then hand the keys back. Interestingly, during this interaction, he handed the keys directly to me, which made the earlier situation with my identification even more confusing. Overall, I appreciate the convenience of the location and the early opening hours. However, the customer service experience felt awkward at times, communication could have been clearer, and the cleanliness of the truck was below expectations.

Make sure the AC is working in the truck. Especially when it is over 90 degrees and we are moving things in the heat. I almost passed out with heat exhaustion.
David JNo signage for U-Haul at this location. Guy laying on curb asleep. I think this was an Exxon station. I went in to ask if this was a U-Haul drop off. Lady at desk pointed toward the liquor window in back. But, all ended well when 2 hours later I got a message saying all was well.
