My truck rental was hard to drive it didn't realy want to move forward and I had to constantly push the gas super hard for it to move forward. Which cause us to waste a lot of gas.

The trailer looked beat up and had twine and a tie down from last customer in it. Also tire pressure was low - but the next store filled it.
The lock on lock box stuck and was hard to open. The truck had an error light on for tire.
I understand that during all this COVID19 protocol things are getting difficult for everyone but Uhaul in Des Plaines needs to do a better job of caring for the customer. The customer is made to feel as if they are a burden. I watched multiple customers get scolded by staff on both pick up date and return date. I understand the need for social distancing but then use sticky orange arrows on the floor or nice signs to politely DIRECT your customers. If you need more customer friendly staff there are many professional restaurant servers out of work right now who are very experienced in the type of friendly service that matters and would probably be glad for work . The "check out" spot for customers is a tablet sitting on a uhaul box with no clearly written or posted signs for customers to know where they are supposed to be standing until they are yelled at condescendingly. I was told at pick up by the sales rep to return the truck on "Monday" by 12 noon, after I explicitly asked "when do I return the truck". So I unmistakenly remember the answer. Although, I did not check the paperwork to confirm. I just trusted what I was told. I arrived at Uhaul at 4:45pm on Sunday (they close at 5pm). We rushed to finish the moving project and felt we were good. The bearded gentleman who checked us back in was very nice. The rate was more than I had expected, he said you were supposed to have it back Sunday by 12 noon. So, I went inside the store to inquire about the discrepancy. There was a couple who entered just ahead of me. Lisa the staff member in charge looked at all of us and said with an angry and sharp tone "You people really needed to get here earlier"! When the nice quiet young Hispanic couple approached the counter, again, Lisa yelled at them to get away from the counter and get behind the box. Then she told them to step aside and she asked me what I wanted. I told her I was questioning the charges because I was told to have the truck back on Monday. Her tone was sharp, angry and condescending. She said that the paperwork says Sunday so that's it, nothing she can do. At this point, I felt like Uhaul was taking advantage of people who are in a situation that they may not have wanted to be in during this time, needing a UhauI truck, and they are not being forthcoming about return dates. At this point I was angry and wanted to speak to a manager in person or on the phone. Lisa said she was in charge and nothing could be done because I had signed this paperwork. She gave me a card for the manager and said manager would be in on Monday. I normally would have just walked away but I felt that she was being literally abusive to us customers. So, I sharply offered her my opinion of her service and then left.
The roof of our truck leaked and all our belongings got soaked. When asked how/if we could be compensated for all the extra trouble we were presented a brochure for the insurance agency, when we asked again, we were ignored. An â€œIâ€™m sorry, there is nothing I can assist with hereâ€ wouldâ€™ve been great, but being ignored was rude, and unprofessional.

Need to help costumor to get to airport rental car location after the drop off. In my case after the drop off I found myself in the middle Of Chicago, wandering aimlessly in the middle of virus pendemic. I had no idea how to get to some rental car location in O'Hare airport to drive back. You need to courtesy service please!
The only reason I will ever be renting from uhual again was because if the experience I had with Donte. He really was the only pleasurable experience I had there. The women that checked me in was more concerned with my height and how I can grab things off the top shelf than the fact I ordered a 20ft truck online. And this location does not stock 20ft trucks. As a result I was forced to take two trips. She did nothing to comp an error that UHual made. Or apologize for it. If your locations do not have the correct sizes available do not allow them to rent them online. It screwed up my entire move. The only reason this experience was salvaged was Donte. He was the only nice thing about this experience.

Great service. Every aspect of my rental was perfect. I must mention that the stuff was A+. This was not my first rental with them and it will not be my last.
Not charge for extra days,
We had problems going through the truck share online system for picking up the truck before opening hours. In addition the "live" chat didn't respond at times for 10 minutes. We were also trying to get help by calling the 800 number and were on hold 15 minutes between any answer and then transferred for another 15 minute hold time at least 3 times. This whole process to pick up early didn't work well and it took about 1 1/2 hours before we actually left the U Haul lot. We won't use this again. When we picked up the 10-foot moving truck, we expected their would be an easy ramp. When we ordered truck online and picked this size, it would have been nice to get a prompt or reminder about the lack of a ramp. Lastly the tire monitor system light was on, so we checked the tires and light stayed on, we shouldn't have had to do this. . .truck should have been ready and in working order. Vanessa and two other gentleman that worked this morning.... they reminded me that humanity isnâ€™t all lost.. there are still some great people in this world ... these 3 folks... they beyond did a good job at â€œworkâ€ they did an amazing job for the human condition, at a time when itâ€™s suffering everywhere. I hope that they are shown great appreciation by your company because the company itself has a lot of controversy as I have been reading, your employees... are the only reason I do business with uhaul
