Let me be clear from the outset: my comment is not aimed at the local dealer. Dépanneur Wang Jun did what they could with what they had — which was no truck. What I want to comment on are U-Haul's practices. I had a “guaranteed” reservation (your word, in your confirmation email) for a 20' moving van on June 28, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The truck was handed over to me at 3:43 PM. The reason: the previous customer had kept it well past the end of their contract. No one at U-Haul called me to warn me or to offer me an alternative. I waited on site, with no information, on moving day. The result: a move scheduled to end at 9:00 PM finished at midnight, with the people helping me tied up all evening. Invoice: $578.28, in full. This is where the word “guarantee” becomes a problem. It reassures the customer at the moment of booking, but it commits you to almost nothing: $50, which you have to claim yourself — and even then. A word that promises certainty and delivers a token discount is not a guarantee; it is a sales pitch. I find the practice dishonest, and I am clearly not the only one who thinks so. I am not asking for the moon. I am asking to be called when things go off the rails, and for U-Haul to own it when it fails to deliver what it promised. Contract no. 24998253 — June 28, 2026.
