Man, I cannot say enough about how helpful Clarence was today. I started off in Greensboro with a 500-mile drive ahead of me to west Nashville, and despite 3+ decades of doing A LOT of driving, I had never driven a vehicle on a public road with a trailer behind it. Clarence was extremely helpful. I could tell he cared about me as a person and a customer. We got the moving blankets and the two different dollies, and then he hooked the 12x6 trailer to my 2004 Land Cruiser. I had watched (half-paying attention) the U-Haul YouTube video about hooking up a trailer - they should let Clarence do the video. He explained every part of the connection process, and when I left, I was pretty confident that if anything happened to the trailer, it was going to be driver error. Nothing. Happened. 500+ miles of driving a trailer - I got worked a bit, but about 50 miles into it I realized that the trailer was never going to disconnect. I lived in Greensboro from 1970 to 2008. This rental was originally through the larger U-Haul place to the west on Gate City Blvd. That has always been the U-Haul place as I have known it. (And those guys are great, too - stopped by there two days before the day of the rental to try to pick up my other moving supplies, and they could not have been more helpful.). But I am telling you, the customer service you get a bit to the east - just before Eugene Street - is fantastic. And based on the conversation I had with Clarence - a proud veteran who served our country during Vietnam - and the professionalism he displayed, this is my go-to place when I am back in the hometown.

I normally use the location nearest UNCG on Gate City Blvd, but they didn't have a 10 foot truck for my 9.19.2020 move. This was despite the fact that it was booked 1 month earlier. Uhaul diverted my truck need to 356 Gate City Blvd. It wasn't far at all from my original requested rental location. Thus 5 stars on location. My reserved 10 foot truck wasn't there 9.19 2020. Owner let us rent the next size up. Worked out that the larger size was needed for our quick move. Truck was returned in less than 3 hours. Don't let the lack of curb appeal turn you off. Owner took very good care of us. I expect he does that with all renters.

Clean location and friendly staff. However the trailer was a bit beat up, and all 4 tires looked worn down. In fact one of them ended up blowing out on my trip. Snider tire roadside assist tech noted this in his documentation as well.

I was not satisfied with my rental.. The truck was not well kept. I had to sweep the whole back of the truck before I was able to put my belongings Inside. There was a strong smell that gave me a headache and I couldn't figure out why... Until I came across the ashtray filled with cigarettes and ashes.. Also, I originally reserved the vehicle online; however, when I got to the location I was not able to login. I had to go through the whole process again as a walk in customer. Which usually isn't an issue, but the fact that i specifically asked to reserve the truck for a total of six hours and to find out that when i returned the vehicle it was only reserved for 3 hours... The lack of communication regarding the truck was little to none. There was no walk through of the vehicle what so ever, and i was never informed of the return process if vehicle were returned after hours.... I feel that I was most definitely taken advantage of in terms of the rental because this is how companies get over on customers. I would not recommend this location to rent from.

Contract 27142860 for starters it took hour to pick up because the mobile pick up did not work and it was awlful experience . Second I rented furniture dollies and utility carts and neither were in truck I want immediate refund for that and door half the time on driver side did not work and vehicle literally shook over 45 miles per hour . Horrible experience!! Had to go to retail store to get utility trucks and they had no furniture dollies to rent so had to spent 40 to buy and you should refund me for that for not providing what I ordered and paid for !!!!

3:30 pick-up booked at airport 12 days ago was cancelled by u-haul 1 hour before my arrival. Was told I would get an e-mail that came 1.5 hours later. Have made a larger truck I did not want at a location further away than expected. Truck had 1/4 tank of gas so I filled it but gave it back with 1/2 tank since I did not know how much I would use. Truck needed a front end alignment and tire pressure adjustment. Told I could return to Kernersville only to find out that location was closed and they requested to return to gate city Blvd. the move got done but not without undue stress - overall it was not a positive experience. The only positive was the employee at 356 gate city was very nice.

The person I dealt with at this location was very rude, terrible customer service. Did not provide me with any paperwork. Did not walk around the truck to inspect for prior damage. Did not dispatch the truck so when I went to return it, there was a lot of confusion and I had to call U-Haul customer service just so I could leave. Terrible experience.


Location was what it needed to be. Nothing fancy, but you just pick up a truck and go.

The gentleman at this location was very nice; however, we had reserved an appliance dolly 3 days before in our original reservation and they did not have one available when we arrived. The gentleman said they hadn't had one there in 2 days. This was highly disappointing as we were moving a large front load washer and dryer down two flights of steps. This location should have taken care of our request and located an appliance dolly for us ahead of time. Because we had paid movers arriving soon after to help us, I immediately started calling all around the Greensboro/Raleigh area looking for an appliance dolly but no one had one available. The kind U-Haul dealer in Raleigh connected me with U-Haul customer service and after 52 minutes on hold, the nice U-Haul phone agent located one 40 mins away from our location. This phone call process should have taken about 15 mins. I was also told there was one available just up the street from our original pick up location, which was 30 miles back down to Greensboro. The original location could have easily gone and picked up the appliance dolly for us ahead of time. Instead, my husband had to drive an additional hour round trip up to a Burlington U-Haul location and pick one up. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful we finally found an appliance dolly, but I made a reservation 3 days ahead of time for a reason and someone didn't follow through. I have learned a lesson and will only rent from a bigger authorized U-Haul dealer in the future.

the reservations is bumpy. the reservationist on the phone was great. calling to confirm the reservation had to take several attempts because they only had 1 computer. finally they took my confirmation name and phone number so I would not have to keep calling back. the agent at the location was very helpful and knowledgeable

After driving the truck off the lot, the monitor light on the dashboard indicated the RR tire needed air and the driver's door was not closed. Couldn't get the driver's door closed any tighter but called for roadside assistance. The RR tire was changed. Time consuming. Cut into moving time I had left on the truck.
