While I was pleased with the rental and the staff in Hayesville going above and beyond, I do take issue with parts of the admin side of things. I was renting a trailer to go from Savannah Ga to Hiawassee, Ga. Upon reserving the rental, the only available drop off locating given was in Blairsville, Ga which was over 20 miles away. I asked upon picking up the unit if there were any closer locations to use as a drop-off. Nothing given. Then approx. 2-3 hours after picking up the unit I received an email and text stating that I now was scheduled to drop off in Dahlonega, Ga. This location was clearly over an hour away from my planned destination. This is a mountainous part of the state and it takes quite some time to get from point A to point B regardless of what it looks like on a map by someone in an office on the other side of the country. I called the Dahlonega location, explained the situation to the helpful lady there and she stated that she would contact the regional manager to see what could be done. She called me back a short while later saying that the regional Mgr. approved the Hayesville, NC location which was less than 10 miles away. This was a big improvement. Upon my arrival there, they were unaware of the change as nothing had been updated in my reservation. Then there was a charge of $89.00 for not returning the equipment to the right location. ( the charge was taken care of by the Hayesville employee) If it weren't for the employees outstanding customer service, this would not have been a pleasant experience. C'mon U-Haul! You can and need to do better!
