It is not fair that I was charged for 19 extra miles yet I was forced to return to a U-Haul location much further from my destination. My destination to the U-Haul facility was at least 9 miles and U-Haul should pay this charge because there were U-Haul facilities much closer to my final destination.

The rental agent was very accommodating. However, the place of pick up looked unkempt. But this wasn't the problem. When we finally arrived at our destination having driven through rain in Tennessee and Florida we discovered that our possessions were damaged. Every box that was on the first layer - resting on the floor of the van was SOAKED. The water had most likely come up from underneath the van, and entered through whatever openings there were in the floor. PRECIOUS DOCUMENTS - Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, Birth Certificates were all WET!!! 15 Boxes of paper files had to be dried out in our garage!! Had I any idea this was even a possibility I would have been smart enough to lay a plastic liner under the boxes. FURIOUS does not describe how we feel. Total disappointment comes close. This was a horrible experience, to say the least.

Nobody ever seems to answer the phone and I couldn’t leave a message ‘cause the voicemail just asked for some sort of password. I just left the truck after hours and put the key in the drop box. Everything was finalized by email the next morning, so there were no problems with the drop off either.

There was nobody at the location at 11:00 am. I just parked it and put the keys and contract in the drop off box. Got a call later wondering if I was going to return to Poughkeepsie. I made plans to return to the Hyde Park location.

Drop off was during closed business hours, however the drip box was easy to locate. They even had a sign pointing in the direction to the box instead of having to search for it. Excellent!

The “office” was a room in a make shift building. The owner (I think) was working off his phone and a laptop. It seemed a little shady. Price was fine, truck was new but not cleaned out form the last person. It had 2 wet blankets and broken pieces of furniture in it.

WELL i do not like how i was called almost 2 hours before my pick up time to come get the rental early due to the weather and then upon arriving early i was told that i can not take the rental until after the weather got better. I ALSO did not like that when making the reservation I requested certain items ( appliance dolly, pads) to then be told that they did not even have them at the location. IF certain locations do not have certain items then you should not be able to request such when making a reservation as i was depending on using the items to move. I will not use Uhaul for further business as moving in a storm was already stressful but to be given incorrect information made it worse.

The two men at this U-Haul location never managed a “Hello” let alone a “Thank you”. Their rudeness was a kind of belligerence I’ll suited for customer service, I’ll never go back.

I had a misunderstanding with the agent regarding the pick up time for my trailer. I told him 9:00am, but did not arrive until 10:00am. I did not think this would be a problem, because I thought it was a U-Haul Store like back home where I have rented often and someone was always there during working hours. In this situation, I believe the agent makes appointments to meet customers and is not always there (I believe he has another full time job). Therefore, it would have been good to know that time was of the essence. In my situation, I got delayed checking my daughter out of her dorm and could not leave and therefore held up the U-Haul agent and almost missed him. My apology for any miscommunication on my end.

It would be nice to put up a sign to drop off the keys. We had no idea where!!

The truck had not been cleaned out from the last customer so there were nails and debris. It was raining as we were moving and water leaked in more than we thought reasonable. We expected some water to get in but there were puddles in the back.

I dropped off around 11:00 am and the location was locked up and no one was available. If it's after hours I expect to have to do a little extra work but to have to go through the after hours process in the middle of the day after driving and unloading a truck was irritating. Also the lack of signage at the location made it very difficult to understand where to enter and leave the truck.

My reservation, which was made two weeks in advance, was changed the day before and then repeatedly changed that evening. I got multiple texts and calls when I was at work from Uhaul, after having already re-confirmed the reservation of a truck I was guaranteed weeks prior.

Need a better way to confirm a truck is available. I reserved a truck 10 days in advance and didn't know I would have the truck I requested or where I was picking it up until the day before my reservation. The staff was helpful adding an extra day and 40 miles for my rental though.
