I started off with a full tank of gas I drove 38 miles it cost me 12 dollars to fill it up at 16 miles to the gallon this tells me it wasn't full when I started. It should have taken about 6 dollars to fill.

Since the pickup trucks and cargo vans have different "rules" (due to being leased rather than owned by U-Haul), those rules should be pointed out to customers when they pick up the vehicles. We don't always have time to read every inch of the contracts, so finding out that going over 100 miles in a pickup cost an extra $79 was quite a shock.

There were some people waiting around as if they wanted to steal my things as I unloaded. They had a Uhaul card. They used the card to go in and check the giveaway section. So I couldn’t help with the storage of my things because I had to watch the truck.

First, I was asked for two phone numbers. I was told I could not rent the truck if I did not provide another phone number. I and many people have only one phone number. U-haul will not be able to use someone else's number to get the renter to be responsible for the truck, so asking for another phone number is nothing but an insult. I provided a second phone number that rings directly to my cell phone number. The attendant dialed the number to check it and hear my cell phone ring when she did so. That was nothing but useless and offensive. A second phone number will never give U-haul more protection if a renter is not willing to be honest and forthright. It is an insult to those who are honest and forthright. The truck I rented had a right turn signal that had a burned out bulb which I detected by the fast blink after I drove the truck away. This means that the truck did not get even a cursory inspection before I rented it. Lastly, there was too much slop in the steering. Normally, the steering on your trucks is very tight and creates less hazard as a result. Based on this performance, I will only rent from U-haul again if I have no other alternative.

When picking up the van the lady was very nice. I needed one more day with the vehicle went online, thinking that I got an extension. The lady called asking where the van was I explained I thought I had booked it online. She was very nice making sure that I had more time. When I went to drop it off the man wanted to charge my card again for the full amount of 34 dollars. I said no it already came out of my bank. I went inside and the lady was really nice saying it was only a dollar and change. I paid her the balance in cash. I am glad I went inside otherwise I would have been charged 30 dollars more.
