On the evening of Thursday, August 30th, I was scheduled to pick up a 10’ U-Haul truck in Lee, MA via the U-haul 24/7 app. When I arrived at the site and tried to use the app for truck pick up, the app showed that there was no truck present for me to pick up and I needed to contact the area field manager, Scott Parsons. However, I was standing next to the truck I was supposed to pick up. Nevertheless, after calling Mr. Parsons multiple times and leaving a VM, I was still unable to speak with him directly to sort out the discrepancy. I then called the U-haul customer service line and waited 20-30 minutes to speak with a representative who informed me there was nothing she could do to help me because, although the truck was present, it had not been set up for 24/7 pickup and would not be available for me to rent. At this point, I had been standing alone, outside, at night, beside this U-haul truck, in an almost desolate location for about 1 hour. I was becoming distressed because there are no ride shares (e.g., Uber, Lyft) near my current location and no taxi companies available to take me back into downtown. I called the customer service line again and waited another 20-30 minutes to speak to a customer service representative, was disconnected due to poor cell phone reception, and had to call back and wait another 20-30 minutes before I was connected with another customer service representative. At this point, I’d been outside for about 2 hours with no way to leave and no way to access the truck beside me. I finally spoke with Lilly who offered to help me. I’m again disconnected due to poor cell phone reception and am contacted by Eileen Lapping, a Resolution Team Customer Service Manager, who goes above and beyond to help me. She found an Econo Lodge motel down the road and reimbursed me $73 for the night’s stay. She also arranged for me to have a $150 refund on my rental. Although I understand Ms. Lapping did what she could to make up for the horrendous ordeal I experienced, more should be done to compensate me for the dangerous and completely avoidable situation in which I was placed. First, there should be better and more reliable oversite in place for those who utilize your 24/7 service. Although Mr. Parson’s was listed as the contact, I first called him at about 9:30 pm on that Thursday evening and still wasn’t able to get in contact with him after several attempts. I wasn’t contacted by Mr. Parson’s until Friday morning, almost 12 hours after my initial attempt to reach him. Each time I contacted your customer service line, I had to wait 20-30 minutes to be assisted, and this was on a Thursday evening. By the time I spoke with Ms. Lapping, I had been standing outside, alone, at night, in a pretty isolated area, by the U-haul truck that I was supposed to pick up for almost 3 hours. I then had to walk down a dark highway to get to the Econo Lodge that I had to sleep at until I could pick up the U-haul truck at 7am the next morning, agai

This pickup location was far away from my original choice in North Adams. I had to drive an hour to pick up the truck and pay or the extra miles used driving it back to North Adams.

When I returned to truck, I asked the attendant to look at the truck while I was there. I was told she would look at it later and email me a receipt. When I arrived home I looked at the email and was shocked to see a $25 cleaning fee! I removed all my belongings from the cab, swept the back clean, and stacked the moving blankets in a pile and placed the hand truck on top. I was told the charge was for not folding the blankets. I was also told there was a 2x4 sticker inside that said they must be folded. I feel that the attendant should have walked around the vehicle with me when requested and the issue could have been addressed before the ‘cleaning’ fee was charged. I would like a full refund on the fee.

This particular rental smelled like a cigarette. Maybe don't allow customers to smoke in these vehicles. Being a former smoker of over 20 years, I assure you, the smoke break can wait!

Based on when we booked the truck, I was under the impression that the rental covered from Monday when we picked it up, to Wednesday. We returned the truck Wednesday, but I'm now being charged for an extra day. Also the emails and text sent to me were too many in the beginning and too confusing with very little helpful information, especially about dropping it off. At no point in any of the emails that were sent to me was the drop off location address listed. I had to go into the website to look it up again, and there were no prompts to do that to find the address or to figure out how the drop off process worked. I wish there was more info about the drop off process sent to me via email, and less about the pick up.

Not my first rental from this facility and by far the best U Haul location!! I've rented from numerous U Haul sites over the years and this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. What you order is what you get rather than the all too often "Oh, the 10' didn't come in but we have this 28' for you", or ordering pads or a dolly only to find out there aren't any when you arrive for pick up or the vehicle is in deplorable condition. None of that happens at Meadow Farms. I can't recommend them highly enough.

We have no issues with the Westfield or Lee locations nor the personnel in either location. However, we do expect a full refund from UHaul. According to our confirmation for order #22047000 we were to pick up our rental at 9:00 am on 5/19/18 at the Westfield location. This was purposefully scheduled so that we could move our son's three local roommates out of their off-campus house, return to load up our son and one of his other friends for return to Wilmington...all before scheduled graduation pictures and activities for Westfield State University. Following graduation, we had to trek home ASAP to host the graduation party. Upon arrival, at 9:00 AM we were informed by the Westfield store manager that UHaul's system reflected a change in our pick-up location to Lee; however we had received NO email, phone call or text to this effect (we further verified this upon returning home later that day and checking our home phone voice mail and caller ID - no call, no message). The Westfield store manager did not have any other vehicle available for us to take, and following a prolonged conversation, we learned that there were no options other than to drive to Lee to pick up the vehicle. As a result, we arrived in Lee 11:00 AM, checked out, filled up the truck with gas and finally made it back to Westifeld by noon...barely one hour to load up before graduation activities. As a result of the morning logistics being completely disrupted, we were unable to move our son's three local roommates at all and barely had time to load up our son and his other friend for the return trip to Wilmington; but missed out on pre-graduation pictures. As a result of UHaul summarily changing our reservation, our day's logistics were completely disrupted, we were unable to fulfill our obligation to our son's roommates and their families, we incurred additional time, cost (tolls, gas, miles) and frustration, on which we expect UHaul to make full restitution. Vehicles r/f tire bald on inside edge - rear tires have bald flat spots, like the vehicle was dragged with e-brake on , causing vibration!! Passenger wiper was coming apart (obvious from scratrd windshield) had to fix prior to pending storm! Vehicle couldn’t make it to destination due to bald tires! Needed to extend rental for one day! Vehicle unsafe and released!

Glad they had an after-hours drop-box for the key. They are also right next to a gas station -- you don't even have to go back out onto the road to get from the gas station to Meadow Farm Equipment. Really convenient for filling gas to the correct level before returning the vehicle.
