Tenzin PHello, I am writing to formally dispute the $60 fuel charge and associated fees applied to my recent U-Haul rental. I rented the U-Haul for only a couple of hours to transport and dispose of a refrigerator and stove. I drove only a few kilometres and personally added approximately $8 worth of fuel to the vehicle. At the time of return, the fuel gauge was approximately at the 1/4-tank level, which is clearly shown in the photograph I took. However, the U-Haul location is relying on a photograph taken by its staff from an angle that appears to show approximately 1/8 of a tank. I have already provided U-Haul with both photographs, and the discrepancy is clearly visible. Despite the photographic evidence I provided, neither the location staff nor the U-Haul reservation managers have addressed the discrepancy or made any adjustment to the charge. Instead, a claim was opened, and I was advised that it may take 3–4 days to investigate. I understand that an investigation may be required; however, I am formally disputing this charge and request that the $60 fuel charge and associated fees be removed or reversed based on the photographic evidence I have provided. I am particularly concerned because this is not the first time I have experienced what I believe to be an inaccurate or excessive charge from U-Haul. I therefore request a thorough review of the rental record, including: The vehicle's fuel level at pickup; The fuel level at return; The photographs taken by both U-Haul and myself; The approximately $8 in fuel I personally added; and The calculation and basis used to determine the $60 fuel charge and associated fees. Please also confirm in writing that the disputed amount will remain under review and will not be treated as an undisputed charge while the investigation is ongoing. I would appreciate receiving the final findings of the investigation, including a clear explanation of how U-Haul determined the fuel level used to calculate this charge. I look forward to resolving this matter promptly and fairly. Regards,
