Terrible experience from start to finish. The truck was not stocked with any of the moving supplies I had ordered, and there were virtually no instructions provided for the pickup process. I received a text message with a link to complete the vehicle pre-inspection, but the link expired before I even had a chance to complete it, making the process unnecessarily frustrating. I had originally reserved a 26-foot truck, only to be informed less than 24 hours before my move that it was unavailable. I was forced to settle for a 20-foot truck, which created additional stress and complications. After loading the truck, I discovered it would not start reliably. It failed to start several times, and I had to wait and repeatedly try again before it finally turned over. Because I was concerned it would not restart, I was afraid to turn the vehicle off for the remainder of the trip. The truck clearly requires maintenance. To make matters worse, the drop-off location I selected near my destination was changed to one approximately 30 minutes farther away. Despite the numerous issues caused by U-Haul, I was still charged for an extra day because I returned the truck 30 minutes late, as well as charged for four additional miles. The customer service experience was equally disappointing. Staff at both the pickup and drop-off locations were not helpful and were unable to provide clear answers or guidance when issues arose. Throughout the process, communication was poor and there seemed to be little concern for resolving the problems that U-Haul had created. This was an unprofessional and unacceptable experience. U-Haul failed to provide the equipment, service, and support that were promised, yet still found ways to charge additional fees. I will not be recommending or using U-Haul again in the future.
