I rented 10 feet uhaul truck with flat rate and was charged $100 plus bucks. I drove it for 25 miles with gas indicator showing between 1/4 and 1/8. Problem - - when I dropped the truck, gas indicator was at slightly below from when I had picked up (no actual measure). with 26 or so miles driven. - I was charged $32 extra at drop off time - because I apparently I was supposed to fill the gas which no one told me about that I needed to do. What was the point of flat rate? What did I pay up front $100 plus bucks for 25 or so miles? - The person who I interacted with during truck drop-off - first told me about the extra charge of $32 for not filling gas and later after checking gas indicator, said yeah "there is no extra charge as gas was still between 1/4 - 1/8 range. - But I am still charged for $32. Why? the whole experience was terrible. I ended up paying $132 for 26 miles of uhaul 10 feet truck.

Hector MWhen my husband arrived, the cashier inside the market was not willing to give him the key, even though he was the designated driver. The cashier said he was not trained in the U-Haul process/system. When the cashier’s boss called him back to give him proper instructions, he was then willing to give my husband the key. Additionally, then when my husband received the U-Haul, the fuel meter was at 1/8 level. When he returned the vehicle, he marked the needle mark as how he received it, and now we are being charged $40+ for gas because the gas needle is not at 1/4 tank which is supposedly standard. He drove the truck for 8 miles only. It’s clear that the person running this U-Haul location is not refilling the gas tanks and also have unlicensed/untrained people handle the trucks.
