How U-Haul Reviews WorkThe truck I was originally given was not the one I ended up driving. The key was changed at the last minute, and I was given a different truck. I have rented trucks several times before and have never had an experience like this. Given the last-minute change, I couldn’t help wondering whether I was treated differently because I’m Asian. I can’t know why the truck was switched, but the situation left me uncomfortable. The replacement truck did not appear to have been properly cleaned. It was missing the cardboard windshield shade that is normally left in the vehicle, the windshield was dirty, and there was a strong, unpleasant odor as soon as I got in. There was animal hair throughout the truck, and it looked as though a previous renter may have had a large dog in it. I immediately asked to switch to another truck. The employee told me he had tried to contact the owner but could not reach him. He did spray the truck with a fragrance and said he would make a note of the problem and give me a discount. I decided to wear a mask and drive the truck for four hours. When I picked it up, the fuel tank was at about one-quarter full. The employee told me I only needed to return it with about the same amount, which was fine. I accidentally forgot during my last stop and filled the tank completely. I returned it with at least three-quarters of a tank, so I paid for significantly more fuel than I was told I needed to provide. Overall, this was a very disappointing rental experience. Please confirm that the promised discount will be applied, and let me know whether you can also provide an adjustment for the extra fuel I left in the truck.

Michelle NDidn’t have what I asked for. Couldn’t use the app as it wouldn’t except the pictures. Store clerk didn’t know what was going on. Will only rent from an actual location going forward.
