- I called U-Haul 3 times before being able to book a trailer. When the phone was answered I had to ack each time if I had reached U-Haul, I can overlook that without an issue but there continued to be a series of issues. - When I was able to book the trailer I was told that the only time I could come pick it up on the date that I needed it was at 10am. I was told at 10:01am they are closed and will not wait. The tone continued to be unfriendly and it sounded like he was annoyed having to deal with this rental. Upon his request I rearranged the timing of the vehicle I was borrowing from a friend, rearranged the timing of the help I was getting to do the move, rearranged the landlord who was involved with the move. - I get a message from UHaul 2 days before confirming the reservation BUT it was set up to pick up in Edmonton, complete wrong location. I called UHaul and spoke with the same individual I had been dealing with, after a few big sighs and trying to say it would be fine and I insisted on him checking the reservation to ensure I would have a trailer on the day I needed it. He did follow through while I was on the phone and just stated, oh yeah, it's fixed and proceeded to hang up the phone. There was no hello, there was no acknowledgment of the error there was no ask if anything else was needed, nothing, absolute poor customer service. Again, I just let it go because it was fixed and I did not want to make a big deal out of his unprofessional service. - I arrived on the Saturday to pick up the trailer at 9:50am, I wanted to make sure I would be on time. Upon arrival I walked into the shop and he was sitting in the office, I introduced myself and let him know I was there to pick up the rental trailer. Again, no hello or even making eye contact. He responded with, well out systems are down and I have someone in front of you. I asked if there was an estimated time when he would think the system would be up and running and he said, its not in my control. Fair, so I went and sat in my vehicle, went back in after 20 minutes and still the same, system down. I understand that he had no control of the system being down BUT he could have shown a sliver of professionalism. I again went back to my vehicle, came back after 20 minutes and by this time the landlord has texted me several times, my help I had were waiting and asking what the hold up was. I went back in again and asked if we could at least start hooking up the trailer and do whatever else possible so that when the system was up than I could be on my way ASAP. He smirked and said, its not how it works, its not my problem, I did respond with reminding him that this whole day had be rearranged to accommodate HIS request and timing. He shrugged his shoulder and said "nothing I can do about it." He sighed and told me to move my vehicle to a certain spot, I did that, he did start brining the trailer and proceeded to hook it up. Meanwhile I received calls and text from everyone involved looking for an estimated time. The landlord was on a very tight timeline due to having rearranged their whole day to accommodate U-Haul's availability. I told him I would go deal with the folks who were waiting and try to smooth it over that I am now over an hour late. He sighed and started to unhook the trailer, within seconds he stated OK the system is up and I can finish the transaction, I thought great, lets get going. I provided the requested ID and everything he requested, we finished the transaction and I asked if I was good to go, he said "yes". Not once was there an acknowledgment of the delay, nothing, not a thank you, nothing. - I proceeded to leave the yard, the trailer appeared to be swaying a lot. About a km off the dirt road I proceeded to turn onto a busy highway and the trailer swayed so much it was jerking the vehicle, they had been afraid of getting hit by the trailer. I immediately pulled over, the vehicle behind me also stopped and asked if I was OK. They stated that it has looked like I was about to roll the trailer. Upon inspection the hitch was completely off, the trailer slammed into the back to the vehicle. The only thing holding the trailer and vehicle were the chains. I took a picture of this as it sounds too far fetched to believe. The folks from the other vehicle stated this was a huge safely issue and that I should consider calling the police. I instead called U-Haul, phone was answered and I let him know what happened. He did come right away, got out of his vehicle and stated "this is what happens when I'm rushed" not a single ounce of responsibility taken by him who gave me the green light to get to my destination. He hooked it up, and left. Did not ask if I was OK, if the vehicle was OK, did not apologize, did not thank me for the business, just left appearing very annoyed. - Very disappointed in the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service. Will not use U-Haul ever again. - The owner of the vehicle is also very upset as the trailer hitting the vehicle has caused some damage.

GAVIN BConvenient location along the highway. Smooth check in. Remind the customer to do their walk-around of the vehicle through the mobile ap. Floormats were quite muddy and dirty.
