Clerk (John) was rude, belligerent, computer illiterate and should never have been put in the position he was in. He bad-mouthed his employer more than once (U-haul and the company messed up your reservation was repeated multiple times, I'm not supposed to be working today, etc.). He was unable to explain the billing difference of $19.95 and .89/mile up to fifty miles and $79.80 and .29/mile with 100 miles ("I don't know, it's just all in the computer"). We finally made a separate call on our own phone to have it explained. He had to make at least 3 calls for assistance with the computer and even then someone had to redo our contract correctly remotely and then he could not even print the new contract without calling yet again for help.

Uhaul should inform customers they will be required to have a reference and that the reference will be called at the time of pickup. I was not informed, it took over an hour for me to pickup my rental because all my friends and family were either working, on the phone with other family members or sleeping. It was terrible. I had a limited amount of time to move my items from my apartment. Being late caused me to not be able to move all my items hence forcing me to add an extra day with my landlord and extra money. It’s was upsetting and highly frustrating considering my sister just used Uhaul 2 weeks ago and had never heard of such a policy Adding references and reference statement needed to be part of the application process. Additionally, if this was a new policy enacted within the last 2 weeks, a policy change statement should have been emailed to all customers informing them of this, have them add references at that time and informing them the references need to be available to for verification before rental equipment would be released. Your Director of Customer Service really dropped the ball on this one. Please forward this to them and also their supervisor. I am using your services in July again for a very large move. I entrust your customer service will be improved by then

Personnel need more training. Rental and return were both done remotely as on-site personnel had problems they were unable to solve.

I will try and make it short, my first experience in years was not so good so at first I went to the new but under construction hwy 164/59 in Waukesha location talked to who I believe was the manager and worked out a deal on a couple of U-boxes as your storage was still under construction but I needed to come back later as I needed to talk about it with my wife. so I did come back later and there was this kid or child it appeared running the show, and really did not know anything about anything it seemed, and he ended up recommending going to the Vault on west ave. in Waukesha. This leads me to my second bad and negative experience that really screwed up my day, for one I had a over 2 hour delay in getting the truck and had two younger people waiting to help that I was paying by the hour, that cost me an extra $32 as the to were wasting there time..and my money, as I'm about to explain, little things make a difference. So I ended up going to the west location and met with the manager of the Vault and Kayla Moore was personable and helpful getting me started with both a storage unit and a cargo van. so the van was setup to pickup at 11 am yesterday. and that was really the only good part of my experience. 08-26-17 Saturday fast forward to Sunday. Sunday I arrive about 10:45 and proceed to have your U-Haul associate process my pickup to be on my way, but after about and hour with your U-Haul associate who knew even less then the associate I dealt with at your 164 location in Waukesha, the person was nice enough a 71 year old retired Marine, but was new and should have never been put on his own until he knew what he was doing, my opinion is he was thrown to the Wolves, or sink or swim. Again on with my story, so after an hour with him trying to work through this issue to include but not limited to that issue alone with a fellow U-Haul Associate from a Milwaukee location she could not process my transaction with my card because she was not at my current location, so after all that they send me back to the 164 location, so I go back to this location and I'm dealing with this young kid who in the end could not help me either after wasting more time there, he sends me back to the west ave. location and said he would meet me there. and in the end we did finally get me going again after over 2 plus hours of my day lost, Gas back and forth between location, and $32 of pay for the kids waiting to help me move stuff. I feel U-Haul should come up with a fair compensation for my lost time and money do to U-Hauls failure to provide the services one would expect from a reputable dealer such as I feel U-Haul is. So in closing the one thing I did not do is lose my patience, but I was not offered and real compensation and would like a response. Thank you. Sincerely, Steven D. Potter !000 Genesee st.
