The young lady at the reception was very courteous, knowledgeable, had excellent communication skills in explaining cost, receipt, checking any damage on truck before we left facility; just an exceptional individual.

Overall, it’s been a nightmare. Since The Vault was bought out by Uhaul, everything has changed. My storage rent went WAY up per month. Originally, I had access to my belongings 24/7. Now this location has specific hours that you can get to your personal items. Bottom line, I’m getting out...which led me to yesterday, and renting a truck. It’s confusing because there’s two Uhaul locations in a row on the block, so I wanted to make sure I called the facility which has my storage that unit. I called their number but must have been transferred to a call center (it was the day after thanksgiving). The guy told me my truck would be READY by 1:00 Pm. Originally I was going to drop it off at a different location and he said it would be cheaper to return to the same location. He quoted me in the $50s! I was trying to ask my questions and clarify the best rate and he was so eager for my credit card information “I can take your card information now” as I was still trying to ponder what I wanted to do. So reservation was made 1:00-5:00 pm. Pick up and return at same Waukesha location. I get to my unit at 12:15 Pm because I just had a feeling this would not smoothly. Nothing has gone smoothing since the transition to Uhaul. I expected to see a truck ready for me to go... my instincts were right. I went into the store and asked my reservation. I was told my truck was coming from GREEN BAY, a couple hours away... and that on his end the start time wasn’t even until 1:15 pm (despite what my confirmation email said 1-5) Either way- a truck should have been already in the lot and ready to go at one. I sat out in the car until exactly 1:00 Pm. As we could predict, the truck wasn’t there. At this point, I want to indicate that I was working with two guys at Uhaul at this location who did their absolute best to make the situation okay for me (this was not their doing at all). I want to give credit to them. But I want to continue on that my new estimate was $100! I tried to explain what the guy on the phone said, and it was a losing battle... I accepted the charges, that were 50 dollars more than I was anticipating, and reconfirmed with myself that I have to get out of this unit! The truck itself had no issues, the return was unremarkable. Again, the two local Uhaul staff were great to me, but this whole change in companies has been very disappointing, and I’m no longer a satisfied customer.

The old guy behind the counter was rude and slow, he took forever to write up the contract, didn't like the fact that I was making a cash payment, and I got charged for 2 days even though I had only rented the truck for 4 hours and it was returned same night. This guy told me I was going to only get charged 1 day, he even claimed to call corporate to get the "okay". I don't understand this, but still, I recieved a receipt in my email that says I'm getting charged for 2 days. I returned the truck at 8:30 the same night. But my reciept says returned at 7:30 the next morning. I will be calling corporate, will not be returning to this location. The management is shady.

Still wish there was a quicker way to check the equipment out, maybe use of a secure app vs having to connect to a website? But overall, was a good experience using the mobile check out/check in, and the couple times I spoke with the GM, she was very helpful and accommodating. .

Clerk (John) was rude, belligerent, computer illiterate and should never have been put in the position he was in. He bad-mouthed his employer more than once (U-haul and the company messed up your reservation was repeated multiple times, I'm not supposed to be working today, etc.). He was unable to explain the billing difference of $19.95 and .89/mile up to fifty miles and $79.80 and .29/mile with 100 miles ("I don't know, it's just all in the computer"). We finally made a separate call on our own phone to have it explained. He had to make at least 3 calls for assistance with the computer and even then someone had to redo our contract correctly remotely and then he could not even print the new contract without calling yet again for help.

Uhaul should inform customers they will be required to have a reference and that the reference will be called at the time of pickup. I was not informed, it took over an hour for me to pickup my rental because all my friends and family were either working, on the phone with other family members or sleeping. It was terrible. I had a limited amount of time to move my items from my apartment. Being late caused me to not be able to move all my items hence forcing me to add an extra day with my landlord and extra money. It’s was upsetting and highly frustrating considering my sister just used Uhaul 2 weeks ago and had never heard of such a policy Adding references and reference statement needed to be part of the application process. Additionally, if this was a new policy enacted within the last 2 weeks, a policy change statement should have been emailed to all customers informing them of this, have them add references at that time and informing them the references need to be available to for verification before rental equipment would be released. Your Director of Customer Service really dropped the ball on this one. Please forward this to them and also their supervisor. I am using your services in July again for a very large move. I entrust your customer service will be improved by then
