We rented through Uhaul.com for a 9am pickup and received a text directing us to pick-up from this location at that time. We called the number and to confirm and the manager said, "If you got the text, you're all set." When we arrived the next morning, the location was closed. We called the manager who reported that "Our location opens at 10am." I told him that the text confirmed a 9am pickup, and he said "I'm about to have breakfast" and that he wouldn't be there for an hour. When we spoke later, he was aware that the online system allows people to schedule pickups and drop offs outside of his franchise's operating hours, but he didn't seem to care that he was making it our problem by not complying. He needs to raise that issue with corporate, not force paying customers to wait until he is ready to work. He was friendly and helpful once he arrived, but I was very unsatisfied that he wasted an hour of our time on a busy weekend.

The location was fantastic but UHaul reservation system is awful. I reserved a 9’ cargo van in Wolcott (it showed available). My confirmation came back for Waterbury. I called and spoke with an agent. She cancelled that reservation and rebooked the 10’ cargo van for the same price in Wolcott. I get to the location to find that the same van was rented to two people and one of us gets an “upgrade”. The upgrade was to a box truck that I didn’t want. The site manager was very apologetic and it wasn’t his fault but I was very upset by the reservation process.

U-haul changed my pickup location to Manchester last minuet so after ariving at Rene's U-haul wanted me to drive another 45 minuets each way to pick up the auto transport I needed to rent. Fred at Rene's went above and beyond driving with my father to Manchester to pick up the auto transport at no cost to me. Thank you Fred for going out of your way to help us out in what was a very long day.

I was not told in advance: 1) the insurance would be $11 per DAY; I was told only that it was $11. I assumed this was for the duration of the rental. Why would I think otherwise when I asked the dealer what additional charges to keep the vehicle an extra day and was told only $20. 2) I was overcharged mileage. When I returned the van, it didn't even have 10,600 mi; I received it at 10, 460 mi. In addition, I was told by UHAUL Corporate I would get the first 100 miles FREE! Yet, I was charged for ALL 150 miles +10 miles. 3) UHAUL Corporate never told me about the additional small fees such as an environmental charge and CT vehicle surcharge. Some of this is small stuff, but it adds up & when I went to use my card Saturday eve, I was short $5.46 for my purchase!!! NOT HAPPY about that! UHAUL Corporate (and dealer) need to disclose all fees. On the positive side, the dealer was easy to deal with. The vehicle was the correct one AND was ready on time for pick up. Those are BIG pluses! While I was overcharged about $12 from my calculations, based on the info I was given, and $12 may not seem like a lot, when it leaves me with a balance shortfall at the register for another transaction, it does not make me happy!!!
