How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a Chevrolet Silverado (2014-2019)

Tools Needed:

  • Safety Glasses
  • Power Drill
  • Torque Wrench
  • 13-16 Wrench
  • Pry Bar
  • 5” Extension
  • 21mm, 3/4 Sockets

Chevrolet Silverado (2014-2019) Hitch Installation Steps

1. Remove Existing Bolts 

If removal of a spare tire is not necessary, begin the process by removing existing bumper bracket bolts and nuts from each frame rail.

2. Raise Hitch Into Place

Raise the hitch into proper position aligning the rear most holes in the hitch with the holes where the bumper bracket bolts were removed. Secure hitch using factory bolts in existing weld nuts.

3. Install Hardware

Install ½” carriage bolts, spacers, and flange nuts in the remaining holes. Be sure to tighten then torque all hardware according to the manufacturer's specifications. 

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Chevrolet Silverado.
