How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a Ford F-150 (2015-2020)
Adding a trailer hitch to a Ford F-150 requires only a few tools, a Curt 13188 trailer hitch, and a short amount of time to complete the installation. This trailer hitch and installation process will work for Ford F-150 model years 2015-2020.
Follow these basic steps to begin hauling trailers and other kinds of hitch-mounted accessories with your Ford F-150 today.

- Safety Glasses
- Torque Wrench
- Power Drill
- Trim Panel Remover
- 15/16, 10mm Sockets
Ford F-150 (2015-2020) Hitch Installation Steps
1. Lower Spare Tire
To aid in the ease of the hitch installment, loosen the spare tire using the spare tire kit present with the truck.
2. Install Hardware
Properly install hardware to the frame using fish wire. Feed the coiled end of the fish wire into the rear hole of the frame and out the access hole on the inside of the shackle. Attach the spacer and carriage bolt onto the fish wire, and pull back into location.
3. Put the Hitch into Position
Raise the hitch into position feeding the fish wires through the adjacent holes on the hitch. Slide the appropriate slots onto the bumper bolts for support. Then reattach the flange nuts.
4. Secure the Hitch to the Frame
Using fish wires, pull fasteners through the hitch side brackets. Then feed washers over the fish wire to hold bolts into place. Once complete, remove all fish wires and attach the hex nut.
5. Tighten and Torque Hitch
With the bolts and flange nuts loosely into place, use a 15/16 socket to tighten and then torque all hardware to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Re-install Spare Tire
Re-install lowered spare tire from Step 1.
You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Ford F-150.
