Austin is a green, buzzing, major metro in the heart of Texas. As the capital city, Austin is a hub for everything from technology and education, to live music and an eclectic nightlife. These traits have led Austin to boom in recent years. In fact, Austin recently went through a 12 year streak of being the fastest growing metro in the country! You might say the secret is out – Austin may be “weird,” but it’s also a great place to live and work.

Austin is known as a vibrant town with plenty of nightlife, great food, and outdoor adventure. There is much to do, whether you just moved there or are a longtime resident.

• Catch a gig at any number of Austin’s local music venues on Sixth Street or South Congress District. The city is known as the Live Music Capital of the World for a reason! 
• Explore the great outdoors at any number of green spaces in Austin, including Lady Bird Lake, Mckinney Falls State Park, and Zilker Park. Bike, hike, paddleboard, and so much more. 
• Check out the cultural offerings at any number of museums and institutions. Local options include the Blanton Museum of Art, Bullock Texas State History Museum, and the Mexic-Arte Museum.  
• Experience the buzz of festival season in Austin. Whether it’s SXSW, Austin City Limits Music Festival, or Austin Food + Wine Festival, Austin is home to a variety of vibrant festivals. 
• Shop ‘til you drop at Austin’s wide variety of boutique and local marketplaces. Options include the shops on South Congress Avenue, the downtown Austin Farmer’s Market, and any of the eclectic shops along South First Street.

• Austin is home to the largest bat colony in North America, at approximately 1.5 million. Almost every day from March through October, you can see the bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue Bridge at sunset.
• Even as a booming metro, Austin is home to over 300 parks and green spaces. The balance of urban living and outdoor recreation has helped Austin earn its reputation as one of the best places in the live in the U.S. 
• Austin’s famous slogan, “Keep Austin Weird,” is a source of pride for locals. The slogan comes from the heavy presence of alternative lifestyles, quirky culture, and eccentricities in the city that you might normally find in a coastal city. 
• Austin is sometimes referred to as “Silicon Hills,” due to the ever-growing presence of tech companies and startups that have put down roots in recent years. Google, Facebook, Apple, Dell, and IBM all have a home base in Austin.
