I am writing to formally request a review of my claim for the total loss of my property stored at U-Haul. I have consistently paid my premiums to secure this coverage. A refusal to cover this sudden and severe loss constitutes a failure to honor policy obligations and a breach of our insurance agreement. I expect a timely evaluation of this claim in accordance with state insurance regulations. I only had my belongings in the storage unit for two months and the storage unit was infested with rats and I lost all of my furniture, clothing, and valuables that were in my unit and the facility did not honor the insurance that I paid for through U-haul (safestor). For insurance, I paid for only $5000 worth of insurance because did not think that my storage unit would be destroyed in the way that it was. But everything in my unit cost much more than that and I did not get any assistance in helping with the gross negligence of the facility and damage from the rats. I did not have anything in the storage unit that was against policy or that attracted rats, which means the facility already was infested with rats. There was a bait device for rats in the unit as well as poison and I have photos of the poison after the rats ate it (they still survived) . Even though they ate the poison, they still buried into all of my furniture, ate through the plastic containers and wood furniture and left feces all over every thing in the unit. There was rat feces all over everything that I stored in the unit and the insurance company would not pay me back for what I stored in the unit, even though I cannot use any of it because it is unsafe to have furniture and belongings that are infested by rats because of negligence. The manager told me that someone that was not hired by U-Haul would come and clean out the unit and sell my belongings in a garage sale. I am extremely upset with the insurance I paid for for the unit, not allowing me to keep what I paid for after it was destroyed. I am also upset with the company, U-haul, for having the ability to be infested with rats. It was a disgusting site to see after storing my belongings appropriately. I wish that the company would pay me back for the items I have lost instead of telling me that they will be sold in a garage sale. it is a breach of contract to tell me that I am not entitled to the insurance that I paid for there was no reason given about why I could not have the funds to replace my items. I was told that an insurance agent would reach out to me, but that has not happened. It is difficult to type everything I want to say in the text box on my phone. How U-Haul Reviews WorkI had rat droppings in my unit and was told by the manager I shouldn't have food in it. I didn't, maybe a couple of canned goods. The manager , myself and my movers took pictures. Filed a claim with no response. I called the manager numerous times to no avail. I had insurance and would like to be completed immediately. steven m | Overall Experiencethe first time we tried to use the storage there was a alarm going off every 5 mins that lasted 30 secs or more. The speaker for the alarm was right next to our unit and could not stay long the first time because my son has medical issues and the sound was hurting him. No one was around checking the alarm that was going off or trying to stop it. The second time we tried to use it the alarm started again about half way though the visit and I didn't bring my son because of the alarm. I can understand the security of using such a device but what good is it if no one shows up to see why its going off. 1 of the 3 carts was broke and could not be used. I used this unit for the month because i got 1 month free because of the U-haul rental but I will never again use the storage unit. The U-haul its self was good and was just want we needed but I would never pay for a unit there.

Marge F | Overall ExperienceThe air conditioning drain plugged up twice and leaked water into ny unit and caused water damage to my belongings and when I asked the staff about it theyre the ones that informed me what happened but nobody bothered to call me or co tact me regarding what happened I had to discover it on my own. Absolutely ridiculous I have belongings permanently destroyed that cant be replaced due to the poor maintenance and communication of the staff.
