SHAWNEE, Okla. (Nov. 12, 2019) — U-Haul® will host a grand-opening event on Saturday, Nov. 16 to unveil its newest indoor self-storage facility at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Shawnee at 2323 N. Harrison St.

Those attending from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will enjoy a free BBQ lunch, U-Haul giveaways, a raffle for a folding bicycle, a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and more. Lunch will be served on a first-come basis.

The modern 88,000-square-foot building includes 702 self-storage units with high-tech security features and climate-control options. A year of work went into refurbishing and enhancing the former Kmart® building, which sat vacant for six months before U-Haul acquired it.

Acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint.
