Moving to the University of Kansas

Feb 17, 2014

KU Jayhawk Athletic GamesReady to be a Jayhawk and attend school on the Hill? Welcome to the University of Kansas, home to thousands of students, acres upon acres of campus, home to the crimson and blue and where you’ll boast the Rock Chalk Chant! Nestled in Lawrence with a population of 90,000, this college town is all about KU.

Attending KU means you’ll be attending a traditional college with an exciting living environment. The best part is that choosing to live on campus means you can live in an array of housing, from traditional halls to private apartments. There are eight residence halls, 12 scholarship halls (a lower housing rate for students who all work within the dorms), two apartment complexes, and two new halls which will be available for housing by 2015.

Amenities, amenities and more amenities

Who says you can’t have it all while in college? KU’s different dorms offer different amenities (here’s a checklist of amenities). Dining plans are already included in residence hall contracts, a free bus service that takes students to their classes, art equipment (pottery studios) and musical instruments (pianos) are available as well as large-screen TVs, beds, desks, chairs and dressers provided to all. No wonder over 5,000 students choose to live on about 100 acres across the KU campus every single year. Not to mention all of the fun school traditions that you’ll be able to partake in, especially at athletic events (like Waving the Wheat at football and basketball games).

A Busy Move-In Day

KU Jayhawk Campus

Want to take a look at your first official day on campus as a Jayhawk? On move-in day you’ll see a parking lot filled with cars as well as students, parents, and boxes everywhere near the dorms. The best way to avoid the long lines and having to go back and forth to the car is to rent a moving truck and moving supplies (like dollies) that will help cut down your moving time. The closest moving location to campus is the U-Haul of Lawrence, but if you’re wanting to escape the commotion of move-in day try renting from nearby locations.

Shipped Straight To Your Dorm

Would you rather spend a handful of hours sweating in the Kansas heat, or venture out into your new city? If you’d rather pack up your belongings at home, have a carrier pick them, they’ll store them, and ultimately deliver them KU Collegeboxes Move Instraight to your dorm then you’ll have a less hectic move-in day on the KU campus. Collegeboxes offers shipping and storage services for Jayhawks, making moving day a more relaxed and fun experience for all. To get an idea of when you’d want to schedule your Collegeboxes move, check out the calendar of KU move-in dates.
