Storage in Kansas City

May 8, 2015

If you’re thinking of moving to Kansas City, odds are you should also consider storage options. A lot of the times when people make a move to Kansas City they are either coming from smaller surrounding cities or relocating for work.  In these cases, I recommend you consider downsizing your living space to save on rent and instead take advantage of the storage options in Kansas City.

STORAGE IN KANSAS CITY

Self-Storage Options

Smaller Units

Moving is a good time to purge items you no longer use or need. But, we all know how hard it is to let go of certain things. It’s for this reason you need a self-storage unit. Depending on what you plan to store, there are a number of different sized units at your disposal.

If you only need to store some boxes and maybe a bike or longboard, you can rent a 5 x 5 unit. Think of this as your extra closet. And, if you know you’ll need more space, there are larger units available at your nearest self-storage location.

Outdoor Storage

Many locations offer outdoor units that allow you to pull right up to the door of the unit. If you need to store large furniture, sports equipment, gardening tools and other heady items you need constant access to, the outdoor units allow for easy loading and unloading.

Kansas City Climate

Keep in mind that Kansas City winter temperatures can fall pretty low, so if you’re storing valuables in the winter, renting a climate controlled unit might be necessary. Again, in the summer, consider the humidity levels. Depending on what you store, renting a climate controlled unit might be your best bet. This type of unit is best when storing books, electronics, paintings and other weather sensitive valuables.
