Halloween is near and the sight of Jack-O-Lanterns on doorsteps will become more and more common. As the temperatures drop and the creepy decorations go up, you’ll want to start getting ready with your Halloween decorations. Give your wallet a break and make your own DIY Halloween crafts this year.
Hanging Jack-O-Lanterns
Set yourself apart from your neighbors by hanging those jack-o-lantern faces high for all to see. You will only need a couple of supplies for this:
- hot glue gun
- rope
- pumpkins (already carved)
- hook
If you don’t want to use real pumpkins, pick up fake ones from your local craft store. Follow the steps below to bring in Halloween the right way.
Step 1: Cut the rope into 3 pieces.
Step 2: Use 1 piece of rope per pumpkin and wrap it like the picture below.
Step 3: Do the same for all three pumpkins.
Step 4: Use twine to tie ropes together above the pumpkins and below where the ropes cross.
Step 5: Tie all rope ends together at the top using twine or rope.
Step 6: Use twine to hang your pumpkin crafts.
Rope Pumpkins
Want to skip out on pumpkins altogether? This DIY Halloween craft is a unique twist on pumpkin crafts.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 toilet paper roll (minus the tissue)
- ribbon ( 3+ colors)
- rope
- glue gun and glue sticks
- Spanish moss
- 3 three-inch tree branch
Step 1: Wrap burlap ribbon around each piece of pvc pipe and glue in place.
Step 2: Cut rope into strands and glue the ends into both sides of the pvc pipe.
Step 3: Cut rope into shorter strands and follow the step above.
Step 4: Glue a branch into the top of each pumpkin.
Step 5: Glue spanish moss around the branch.
Step 6: Tie ribbons around the branch.
