I was charged an extra $30+ for gas at the rate of nearly $8 a gallon for a total of 4 gallons. I already put 4.5 gallons at a station before returning the truck and now uhaul claimed it was missing 4 gallons. No boxed truck would burn 8.5 gallons on a 42 mile trip at a rate of 5 miles/gal. Bigger semis with trailers get better mileage. That truck didn’t have a 16 cylinder engine. And why 7 dollars per gallon and why tax on top of that? Uhaul doesn’t sell gasolline, it rents out hauling equipment. What a ripoff. First time ever when uhaul screwed me

ALEXANDER RTruck was clean, but engine light was on and there was almost no gas in the tank (under 20%, 88 mile estimate). This is very annoying, because it means on a stressful and already-busy moving day, the first thing I have to do is unexpectedly run to a gas station to fill a vehicle that should be functional when picked up. I have never picked up a rental truck or vehicle with an empty tank. The engine light never turned off the whole time I had the truck.

NORMAN AWhen I picked up, gas was not full. I told the person and he said he will “annotate” it. So I drove away. When I came back, I was told there no such thing and I need to fill gas to full. Also when I reserved online I didn’t want to add “safe move” or something that’s $15, but seems like it was added to my order when I return the truck. Must have been that first guy who added it without my consent. Second guys was very polite and reasonable. He asked me to fill the tank but it’s just company policy so I understand that.
BOWEN TI was charged a 13$ refueling fee because I received the uhaul with a full tank of gas and after filling it to completely full (the gas nozzle cut off twice on me) and driving back to the uhaul location down the road, the fuel gauge ticked slightly under full. This left me with a very bad taste, I would recommend in the future giving the uhaul with slightly less than full tank of gas so the customer can fill it further that way this doesn't occur.

The site was supposed to be until 6 PM. I arrived at 6:01, and it was already locked with the lights off. Someone called me the following morning to ask if I had it back by 7:30, and I explained that the can was returned at 6:01.
