Wash the truck. The windshield was covered with dead bugs. There was only a quarter tank of gas. Why wasn't it full when I picked it up?Daniel R.
Rented a 26 foot truck.. it was like new. Easy to drive and load. Pulling the ramp and door closed were effortless. Staff are great! The cost was hundreds less that what I was quoted at PODS. This is definitely the way to go.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!Kevin D.
I originally was going to pay with debit and was told it would be an additional $55 if I did. Like wtf!! Then I was charge additional mileage even though I was under the original amount I estimated. The attendant was rude and tried to argue with me about the pick up location being open at a certain time. Tried to explain he needs to go to their website to see what I mean. This location is hard to find unless you was familiar with the truck stop. The driver's side window crank was missing the knob which made opening and closing the window very challenging. The clerk in the shop seemed as though we were bothering him by arriving for our rental - gave us no assistance in finding the vehicle - told it was parked on the far side of the building "over there" (along with the rest of the trucks - we had to go vehicle by vehicle finding and checking the ID numbers. We traveled a total of 18 km ad put $10 (roughly 7.826Litres) of gas in the car and he charged us another $13 for a "fuel discrepancy". When I questioned this he argued said it couldn't be helped - wasn't his problem. By you own website's charts we would need to have replaced a mximum of 2 possibly 3 litres of fuel for the distance traveled - the clerk had no interest in fixing this, or allowing us to check the fuel gauge again - said it was done and that was that. I will be calling the 1-800 number today as well to complain. This was a completely awful experience, 100%.Lisa G.

I had two different experiences, first experience picking up uhaul was perfect, clerk was friendly, and provided great service, however he spelt my name wrong despite having my ID card. This did not effect my experience. My experience returning the uhaul was a complete opposite experience, the clerk (different from pick up) was friendly but when he checked the truck he claimed I had left 1/8 of a tank and there was 1/4 tank left, for this he wanted to charge me almost $100, so I filled up to almost a half tank. Stop charging extra for gas when it was filled up more than when we got it, I took pictures of pick up and drop off, called to talk to someone and no answer, left a message to call me back, and surprise, no one did! Will never use u haul again, what a scam and rip off, hope the $23 extra dollars was worth losing a customer over, plus I will tell everyone I know never to use u haul!!Sean R.

Your online booking system should let people know that approval when checking in can take a while, mine took half an hour. I wasn't pressed for time but the next person might not account for a 30 minute wait. Your app is useless for online checking in and rentals as there is no way to log in (iOS). The overall UX using your online services is not exactly intuitive. A few times when booking the rental it states that calculations are done on miles, then the web form asks for kilometres. The cold shot Sherwood park location should have more detailed instruction for access, it's not an easy place to find. Just mention that the office is in the flying j, and the vehicles are located in the parking lot west of the flying j/Denny's.Tanner W.

The staff were very kind. The Truck windshield was covered in bugs and the vehicle had not been swept out. The day we had booked the vehicle we could not get the keys because the app was not working and therefore we did not get the combination for the lock. Customer service did not pick up when we needed help and waited over an hour. We had to move the following evening which was not planned. When speaking with the representative on the phone on the 31st and explaining what had happened, I was told a $50 credit would be put on my credit card. The credit has not been given. Once again, the gentleman were very kind and helpful at the location. The problem was with the after hours system and the customer service line.Jana H.

The representative at the U-Haul rental was amazing, but the technology was a nightmare. Took 30 minutes to check out because the website kept going down. A huge international company and can't even keep your technology up and running? Would give 0 stars to the company and 5 stars the rep working yesterday morning for not quitting on the spot.Colin B.
This was a truly horrible customer service experience. I will never patronize U-Haul again. I followed the steps online to register. I arrived at 9 AM to pick up the vehicle. I was met by a clerk that indicated that the server was down. He told me to call a number on a piece of paper stuck to the wall. When I call that number the individual on the other end indicated that there was nothing that she could do for me either. She proceeded to call the clerk in front of me while placing me on hold. It was only after waiting for 30 minutes that clerk then indicated the server was back up. I then attempted to go through the check in procedure and got to the stage where I was told what vehicle number I was getting. I then informed the clerk who said that none of my information had been passed through I then had to enter my information three more times before it was successful. The clerk then gave me the keys and I was able to obtain the rental. From the time of my appointment to the time that I drove away was almost an hour. Nothing in the contract was reviewed with me. It was only by happenstance that I discovered that I needed to take pictures of the vehicle on its return to avoid a $20 service fee for simply returning the vehicle. Had I not seen this on the contract I would've been quite upset to assessed this charge. The vehicle it's self contained the contract of a previous customer indicating to me that it has not been cleaned. This was my first and last customer experience with U-Haul. I will be sourcing competitors for my future needs.John S.

The location itself is fine, but everything on the website beyond checking availability was pretty hostile. There were far far too many clicks required to actually get a reservation, and there's no excuse for not being able to upload an already taken photo at check out.Andrew G.

Allow verification before pick up. It's not a big deal but I had to stand in the parking lot for 25 minutes waiting for license verification. It would be nice to do that part at the time of reservation just to avoid being delayed. The lock on the lockbox inside was very sticky and I had a slight panic about not being to open it. I eventually got it open but I think the lock needs replacing. Otherwise, very easy to pick and drop off with the phone check in. Truck was there and clean. Nice to offer a pickup and drop off location in Sherwood park.Robyn M.

The location I was suppose to drop the truck off at (9440 27ave) was having construction done to the road leading into this business and the road was completely shut down. There was no way of dropping the vehicle off there. I tried calling, no answer and voice mailbox was full. Tried calling the Sherwood park location (my pickup location), also no answer and voice mailbox was full. I had no choice but to bring it back to the Sherwood park location and put the keys in the drop box. The next morning I made sure to call upon opening to let the gentleman know what happened. He wanted me to come back and take the vehicle for him which is completely ridiculous. Then he charged me an extra fee and for the extra 20km I needed to take the vehicle back to Sherwood park. If your locations have zero access do you really expect us to leave the vehicle on a random street when we are unable to leave a voice message. Unimpressed and this will be my last time using U-Haul. I was told the customer service center would be contacting me which I'm still waiting to hear from.Cody G.

This location was very difficult to find. The address given on Google maps was incorrect, adding to the confusion.Mark V.
The location was hard to find, as there was no external signs visible from the road, it ended up being a small room/office inside a gas station. I then waited in a line for 40 minutes to return the vehicle. When it was my turn the agent told me it would be checked in later because I paid with a credit card. So he finally checked the vehicle in at 1030 and charged me for an extra day ($40), an extra $15 for coverage on the extra day, and he also charged me $25 for 4 liters of gas. This agent straight up ripped me off for $84. He may have checked the vehicle in late, but I returned the vehicle with more fuel in the tank than when I received it. No normal person is going to put 4 liters of gas into a tank that takes well over 100 liters. This guy ripped me off because I paid with a credit card when I picked it up. I am thinking about reporting him to the BBB.Andrew R.

They changed our pick up location, because some one else did not drop it off at the right location, they gave us a out of the way drop off location ,which put more kilometers on the truck, not to mention the inconvenience of having trouble getting the code to get the key from the lock box. The voice mail of this Information was missed,due to a very busy schedule . And having trouble with our uhaul app. This was not a pleasant experience by any means, as well the truck has problems sounds like the transmission is going on it, wasn't a good truck. All the way around this experience did not make our already stressful situation any better. Will be looking at other trucking companies.Robert R.

I did not get my dolly which I ordered with the truck, it took me an hour to try and pick it up, the cargo area was a bit dirty, the truck was unwashed, the running boards were difficult to put straps on and would I would not trust them to actually hold in my belongings. Not impressed.Justin R.

This is the worst experience I have ever had renting a vehicle. To start, I received and email confirming an 8:30 am pick up time. When I arrived at 8:30 I found the location did not even open until 9. Actual open time was 9:15 am. The truck looked about 100 years old, door was stuck, exterior and interior were filthy (I would bet a lot of $$ that the cab was not sanitized as it was layered with dust). In short, vehicle was a piece of crap and I have pictures I can share with you if you'd like to see them. I will NEVER rent from any Uhaul location again unless I hear from Uhaul management with some sort of explanation. Sad, because the people at the previous Sherwood Park location were fantastic. I rented from there 6 months ago and it was a great experience. This one could have barely been worse.Mitchel S.
We got ripped off! Paid for renting the van for 3 days, when we had it for 5 hours!! Tried to get a hold of someone by phone right away, but no luck! Never got a call back, left several voicemails! Take their license to operate away. They had no idea what they were doing at check in or check out. Every uhaul I have ever used took debit card or cash. I was told that I had to pay by credit card for the cargo van which I had booked a month ago and was not told this at booking. I had to take a 20ft truck at $10 more for them to accept my debit card how does that make any sense. When I returned I had used less Kim's and I had to argue for 10 minutes to get My money back and get a receipt. Disgusting business practices and a crook.will never use this location again and will tell everyone I know not to use them. I may even never use uhaul again at any location.Jonathan Q.

I will never be going back again u haul has lost my Business and I will never recommend them to anybody else pre-check-in was a joke at this location I did exactly what they told me to go up to the side of the counter show the screen to the person he gives my keys yeah I know he told me to get back in line the customer yelled at me I and then I still had to wait in line for over an hour to be served and there was only two people in front of me Guy at the counter it was second day he had no idea what he was doing constantly constantly was folding the manager John on what to do manager John defended him said he threw them in the fire and if he threw me into the fire like that I'd be in the same position first right they're saying that to the customer isn't saying the customer is always right you do everything to make the customer happy oh I am not happy far from it I would never ever tell a customer that if I threw you into the far you'd be an exact same position first off you don't leave someone who is only on their second day alone you make sure that person knows how to do their job and they are confident before you leave them to run the place ridiculous unprofessional and out of all of it all I got was a I'm sorry if you were in the same position as I was you would be doing the same thing A good manager would've apologize profusely would've said They were in the wrong I should not have left him on the second day by himself would've comped My rental which they charge me way too much for to in my opinion considering I was supposed to pick my truck up at 9 and I did not receive my keys till 10 after 10 and I returned it early because it's screwed up my whole move so I had to call an emergency back up screw everybody else's day up as I had movers waiting at my house for that truck I will never return to this location and I will tell every person I know never to go to that location ever againKathryn S.
