ROBERT BFred, who is in charge was very mean and argued with me. I was asking how it works in terms of mileage he only explained once but not in full details. When asked again to explain, he reluctantly and said “ Do you not get it, I am not trying to cheat you here”, when putting in my information, he said “ what the heck did you do” when his iPad clearly had technical issues. He thinks I am trying to argue with him overall when customers always have the right for full disclosure.

Jeffrey ZThe man, Fred, doing our transaction at this location had an absolutely horrific personality. He would not deal with accepting my friend's driver'slicence for the truck, not even take a copy. (As I did not feel safe driving a big truck, weeks earlier, I had registered online my friend's name for driving) He said "too bad - then you don't drive." He walked away. We tried several times to submit the driver license as required but unsuccessful. We had to look for him, in order to inspect the truck, then found him outside. He was impatient (there were no other customers waiting) rushed us through, including when he opened the rear door he pushed it up only partially so that we could not see inside. We attempted to have him properly do the inspection with us. Instead he took off to his door slamming the door on us, locking it on us. We realized we had to take photos of the condition of the truck. When we looked at the interior of the truck and realized why he rolled the door only part way—it was so we would not see the poor & dirty condition but specifically the interior roof was bad and some how "jerry-rigged". As a result we had to go home to send the photos on computer AND call u-haul office. Fortunately the assistance was helpful and suggested we send photos via his uhaul email. We lost 1 and 1/2 hours which was crucial due to time constraints with a warehouse elevator closing at 3PM! As a result we were not able to move all the items we needed to. "Fred" at Cronin is bad business for u-haul! Horrible experience! It also appears as "Cronin Glass" does NOT exist as a real glass business. Fred pretended to be friendly at the beginning. However, was so upsetting for both of us. DO NOT use this location at 1766 Renfrew.
Zshu-Zshu MFred was pleasant to deal with and very friendly. You would expect to just have a transactional conversation while renting a U-Haul so it was nice to deal with someone so genuine and friendly! :)

EVERSON BHorrible customer service. I was rushed through the process when I was picking up my rental. When I asked the representative to slow down so I can complete the steps he asked me to, he brushed me off and continued speaking. He was not helpful, rushed through the process and left me feeling confused and frustrated. I was shocked at the poor level of communication. Overall, I would not recommend this location due to the staff. I will be renting a U-Haul truck again, however, I will ensure it is NOT at this location.

Calvin GOwner was aggressive and rude. Tried to persuade me to take a truck different from the one I booked and not complete the pretrip inspection. When I tried calling U-haul to figure out what was going on, he became aggressive, saying "You don't talk to U-Haul! You talk to me!" It was an unsettling and vaguely threatening experience.

Nietzche WFred was an absolute pleasure from the moment I met him. He went out of his way to bring the Van to the front for me, he helped me through the whole check-in process. For bringing it back he was responsive to communication, and easy to talk to. I have rented a Van from him 3 times in the last 3 weeks for a move in move out. I have sent 2 friends to pick up a van and have pick up one myself. Every interaction has been great and easy going. Strongly suggest.

KEVIN BAvoid this place. I was scammed. I only drove 17 km but was charged for 70 km, and then they added another $60 for gas. The whole thing felt dishonest and completely unreasonable. Be very careful renting from here and make sure you document everything, because I would not trust their final bill.
MARK KI rented from U-Haul and requested they remove the dolly from the invoice as we did not end up taking it from the store and they charged us for it. Also, their gas meters don’t show the number of KM, but the rules are it’s full when you take it and you return it full - how can you know what full is without a number? They say it was full when you picked it up and gave to fill it to fill with no real indication of what full is. Our contract said the truck was full of gas but I have photos of the meters before we filled it with 80$ worth of gas we did not use and after - NOW it’s full. We spent way too much money on gas trying to fill up a tank that wasn’t even full when we got it in the first place. Horrible experience.

CASEY WI had a very disappointing experience at this location. I was given misleading information at the time of rental. I was told the charge was only a “deposit,” however I was actually charged upfront for 100 miles and additional insurance without proper explanation or my informed consent. I had clearly stated that I did not want insurance and that I would be paying with a different card, but the charge was still processed on the card on file. I used the truck for approximately 2.5 hours and drove only 22 miles, yet I was charged based on 100 miles. This is not transparent or fair. Additionally, when I returned the vehicle during business hours, the representative was not present. I waited around 30 minutes and attempted to call and message multiple times without response. When I finally received a reply, my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed professionally. The equipment itself was fine, but the customer service and lack of transparency were unacceptable. Based on my experience and similar reviews from others, this appears to be a recurring issue at this location. I would not recommend this location and suggest U-Haul review their practices here to ensure customers are treated fairly and given clear, accurate information.

ARASH EExtremely bad customer service! The office was an abandoned building and the smell of marijuana was so strong, it was nauseating. The person I dealt with was rude, unapproachable and would not answer any of my questions. When I picked up the truck the fuel gauge did not match the gage on the contract and when I asked him to confirm the truck's gage he yelled across the room to take a picture and walked away. When I returned the truck he ripped the key from my hand walked away as I asked about the fuel discrepancy. I've dealt with U-Haul for years and never have I been treated so poorly.

Jason WI think the manager Frederick did well basically but your billing department did not . I picked up the rental and recorded the Milage and fuel gauge . I only used a total of 10 kilometer or 10 miles for the rental . I took pictures from when I received it and when I gave it back . I still have it . I used the rental to deliver 3 beds for 4 blocks . I specified no extra insurance needed . I put $15 dollars worth of gas in the tank and when I first receive the van it has very low reading . your rep on the phone did credit me $16 . back from the extra charge issue but my bill was still around $75 . I thought it should not be that much considering used for only 10 kilos or even miles . The photos indicated from 46102 when received and 46112 returned .

GEORDIE R1. I was charged $21.46 for fuel, despite returning the equipment with the gas at the exact same level as when I picked it up. 2. Upon pickup, the furniture blankets were provided to me unfolded and loose. However, upon location policy mandates that I must fold and bag them to avoid a fee. It is unacceptable to hold customers to a standard of cleanliness that the location itself does not maintain.

Also the passenger side mirror was broken. The worst thing the vehicle didn’t have backup camera. I understand it’s the old vehicle but previously I rented a U-Haul truck the inside mirror turned to back up camera so it’s a huge truck. It’s very hard to park. And a vehicle a smell really really bad. Something is burning inside the vehicle. I didn’t feel safe driving it around.

ALI SThe incident occurred on February 28 at approximately 8:30 a.m. An older white male employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager of the U-Haul rental location, was present during the interaction. When my card didn’t work, he said loudly in front of others, “You should manage your credit better — it’s not working. What have you been doing?” This was very embarrassing and felt disrespectful. When I tried to touch the iPad because I couldn’t see the screen clearly, he shouted at me not to touch it. At that point, I even wondered if he was being discriminatory toward me. Additionally, the vehicle was parked on the road, and I was instructed to go get it myself. When taking exterior photos, in order to capture the full side of the vehicle within the frame, I would have had to step into the middle of the road, which felt unsafe. I don’t understand how I was supposed to properly inspect the exterior under those conditions. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and unprofessional experience, and I would prefer not to return to this location again.
