My experience with U-Haul was extraordinarily frustrating and stressful from start to finish, and the problem had absolutely nothing to do with the location where I ultimately picked up my truck. In fact, that location and its staff were the only redeeming part of the entire ordeal. I originally reserved a 10’ truck at a different location. Without any notice, communication, phone call, email, or explanation whatsoever, my reservation was changed to a 26’ truck — a vehicle so large that I literally could not maneuver it into or out of the area where I needed to move. Discovering this at the last minute on a graduation weekend in a college town was beyond unacceptable. When I called the original location for help, I was essentially told there was nothing they could do other than cancel the reservation entirely. That is not customer service. That is abandonment of a customer during a time-sensitive move when truck availability was already extremely limited. After scrambling to salvage the situation, I finally reached a kind and helpful representative who located a 15’ truck for me at another location. Unfortunately, even then the communication failures continued. She neglected to inform me that my Austin drop-off location had been changed, which I only discovered when I went to return the truck. Yet another unnecessary complication added to an already chaotic and stressful experience. The complete lack of communication, coordination, and accountability throughout this process was astounding. A reservation should mean something, and customers should not be blindsided with major vehicle changes that fundamentally alter whether the equipment is even usable for their move. This was one of the most stressful rental experiences I’ve ever had, and based on this experience, I will absolutely explore alternatives the next time I need a moving truck.

Allison JAt the beginning and end of the trip, I took photos/videos of the vehicle (including the odometer and fuel gauge) in case anything happened to the U-Haul. When I received the vehicle, the odometer stated 69262.8 with 213 miles remaining until empty. When I returned the vehicle, the odometer stated 69378.4 with 227 miles remaining until empty. I was charged for the correct mileage on the receipt! However, I was incorrectly charged for the fuel. I was instructed to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel, or a little extra! I did that.
Jeremy SVehicle windshield and front grill was full of dead bugs, apparently vehicle not washed after last rental. I used washer fluid to clean windshield, but did not help much. Also fuel tank not full, but below the full marker. Wash vehicle when bugs are all over front grill and windshield. Make sure fuel gauge reads full.
ROY SThe corners above the cab were TAPED together, then when I turned it in I was almost charged. They even said at the local uhaul I was lucky it didn't rain. I wasn't told to check the truck before leaving so I only made sure of the gas I needed.

Kai BMy receipt didn't indicate the location for drop off. I had to log in to find it. I've I found the location, it point had the name and not the address. The location moved recently and it's new address isn't updated in GPS causing me to go out of my way. The location and address should be listed for drop off locations.

It was during work hours on a Saturday but there was no UHaul signage or anything at the location and no bodies there whatsoever to ask anything to.

I made the reservation on the app and still had to go through the entire paperwork process at the pick up location, seemed odd that I had to do it twice. When I asked about it, I was told "don’t worry, it won’t take long" so apparently it’s normal to have to do the paperwork twice. Truck was clean and in good condition.

RASHONDA CThe drop off location was not operational. I went to the shopping center next door neighbor auto parts store to find out some information after I looked up the drop off instructions, called multiple times the drop off center’s phone number without answer. Finally I called the national number going through the answering center’s menu. What a pain! And, I unable to receive help with a scheduled drop off location that supposedly is 24/7!? I would recommend that unless you can verify that the location has an open store front and is adequately manned, do not list location as a drop off location.
