NOE THave the right rental equipment per the reservation. I reserved a 15-foot truck because it was the right size for my move. When I arrived, I was told that only a 26-foot truck was available. The staff presented it as if they were doing me a favor by upgrading me at no additional cost, but I didn’t need or want a 26-foot truck. The only alternative offered was to drive about 45 minutes to another location to pick up the 15-foot truck I had reserved. That wasn’t a realistic option, especially considering the additional time and transportation costs. Neither the staff at the pickup location nor the representatives I spoke with on the phone seemed particularly concerned that my reservation couldn’t be honored. The oversized truck created several problems. We didn’t have enough belongings to load it properly, so the truck rode very roughly, bouncing and jolting throughout the trip because it was so lightly loaded. It was also much more difficult to maneuver and park than the 15-foot truck I had specifically reserved. The pickup experience was disappointing as well. When we arrived at the scheduled pickup time, there was no one in the office, so we had to wait. When an employee finally arrived, we were asked to wait outside instead of inside the air-conditioned office. Fortunately, there was some shade, but it wasn’t a great way to begin the rental. Overall, the reservation process gave me little confidence that the vehicle I reserved would actually be available, and the customer service did not reflect much concern for the inconvenience caused.

BETHANY MThere was no warning that I would need 2 people to verify my identity. This made it so I couldn't tell my contacts to watch their phones. Since you could only call a contact one time, if they missed the call then I had to find someone else. I went through 4 people trying to find 2 that would answer on the first ring. It also led to me having a 45 minute pickup process which I wasn't planning for. I wish I had knoe ahead of time about the 2 person verification.

FRANK BThe location was fine and welcoming. The equipment/truck felt like it was on its last leg. The brakes felt weak, the way it rattled felt like engine trouble was coming, the shocks were non-existent, and the steering wheel needed to be aligned and probably tightened (you had to constantly adjust the wheel to drive in a straight line).

GARY ETo start, it would have been nice to know the pickup process was going to be lengthy. Upon pick up, I noticed there was dried mud on the steps and floor of the vehicle and the windshield was filthy. The truck itself struggled on the road even when empty and the suspension was awful. Thankfully I only had to drive it a couple miles back and forth, but I’d feel bad for anyone having to drive it long distance. The cargo area was nice and clean. It appears that someone had backed into a tree branch previously as there’s a large dent and pine needles still sticking out of the dent.

Eric WOur reservation was not honored. We reserved a truck in Arroyo grande and had to pick it up in San Luis Obispo last minute. We reserved 12 furniture blankets and they only had 4 to give us along with two old mattress pads. The truck sounded like it was going to break down. Was pretty disappointed with everything. Drip off in Davis was great

Truck ran very well; however, if you could have better instructions to take the vehicle out of Tow mode, it would have made the experience even better. The sticker on the dash was not hepful since I couldn't figure out how to remove from Tow mode. Thanks again.

amy cThere was a problem using the app and self-checkout. It took long using the app than it did for another customer who just walked up to the counter. And the 'Skip the Line for your Key' ... LOL, that didn't work either, had to wait in the only line there was. But the biggest issue was with the second truck my roommate had reserved. The checkout was so long that we ended up cancelling the order.

Robert OThe u-haul app would not load my photos of the u-haul at pickup. The glitches in the app made pick-up take a lot longer than expected. a similar glitch happened at drop off. The location itself was good because it was spacious and easy to pull the truck out. The lockboxes were easy to navigate. The truck was parked out front for us near a fenced entrance however that location actually made it difficult to snap the check-in photos of the U-Haul (the same ones that wouldn’t load). Overall, good experience with the truck and the equipment, and location was easy to navigate. It was really just the app that was a bit frustrating.

Fari AI was charged for fuel when I returned the truck with more fuel than I started with. Just for context I started at mileage 6101 and returned with 6135 so I drove 34 miles total. I moved one refrigerator and the truck was empty for 1/2 of the trip. I put in 3.5 gallons and was charged for an additional 2 gallons for a total of 5.5 gallons for 34 miles so that is about 6 miles per gallon for an empty truck. They must have given me a broken truck because I know they would never charge me for fuel when it wasn’t required. Oh maybe they would and did.

Maria CI rented an appliance dolly but when I arrived I was told there was no appliance dolly. Which complicated my day greatly as I had to run around searching for one. I also made the reservation at 6am, but they had my pickup scheduled at 6pm. Thankfully i didn’t arrive until after they opened to pickup the van, I would have had some major problems if I got there at 6am and couldn’t pickup the van

My only and extremely minor complaint is that when I filled up the truck before returning it, it took more gas than I would have expected given that I actually did not drive it very far. I suspect the last customer might not have filled the truck before returning it.

TIMOTHY BThe vehicle, a 15' box truck, was filthy and in poor condition. I had to use a ladder to clean the windows and scrape the dead bugs off. Moreover, the engine blew up (probably threw a rod) some 7-10 miles from the return location on Prado Road. After being stranded on the side of a busy freeway for almost 45 minutes with no return call from the agent, I got a ride to the reurn location to return the keys and describe what happened. Instead what I received was an accusatory conversation with both( Paul ?) and the U-Haul rep on the phone. The opening remark was how I could be liable for "abandoning the vehicle" etc. The conversation ended after I said I would seek a legal remedy and the U-Haul rep said, "now that you have threatened to sue I can't speaak with you..." I walked away at that point. Later I did speak with a U-Haul roadside assistance person who was very polite and professional and we cleared it up. In conclusion it is unlikely I would ever rent from U-Haul again as I prefer Budget Truck Rental. Moreover, SLO Mini Storage should be reviewed for it's lack of professional service and poor maintenance of the vehicles in its fleet.

Murray GGlad to have been able to get a small truck for the bit of time I needed it, that morning, so last minute. First time for all the added do it yourself online check in with the vehicle photos .. which was not fully self explanatory in how to do it ... but eventually got it. Still prefer interactions with a human being person, but it seems the way of the world to automate and do more do it yourself .. I did quickly get a question handled re why a dashboard light was on, from the one fellow working this location. He was never impatient, was responsive, incl on my check in, right there.
