Not only did Josh have another 20' truck available to swap for the one that lost steering and breaking power on a 7% decline on I-17 just before town, but he also showed compassion for someone who almost just died. I had rented a faulty Uhaul at another location and was lucky Josh had another in his inventory to get me moving again, literally. I really appreciate Rodney's help transferring everything from one truck to another since I was alone. I don't know what I would have done without their help. These guys are the epitome of customer service. Thank you again!

The guy there was not welcoming and made me feel like I was intruding on his time, I felt the need to constantly apologize to him. Completely caught me off guard as I had such a great experience when I picked up the truck in Tempe. When I returned with the truck a different person was there and he was so very kind but the entire ordeal was soured by the first visit.

Greg CruceI have a mix review of our experience. In Anchorage the person we talked to that was actually in Anchorage was extremely helpful, the delivery was great, and the pickup was great. Even the move from Anchorage to Camp Verde was great. I had called someone on the 1-800 number to get all the details of how the move would work. We did not have a house to move into in Payson when we left Anchorage. I was told then that the monthly rental fee and insurance would continue until we found a place, they could send the u-boxes to that address IN PAYSON, and that we could keep the containers until we were ready to send them back - we would just accrue the monthly rental/insurance fees. That was fine. We get to Payson, find a house, and try and use the app to put in the address for them to be delivered. Find out it is another $2000+ to have them delivered. That was NOT mentioned in the original phone call, but we need our stuff, so what are we to do - we pay. Then the delivery driver contacts us and we find out that his company delivers them on trailers and the trailers cannot be left. So instead of being able to keep the u-boxes for however long we need, we found out we needed to get them unloaded asap. When I tried calling I couldn't reach anyone so I tried the chat - which was not helpful at all. I was trying to find out how to keep the u-boxes earlier, but couldn't make a phone call until after 7:00, which was when any changes needed to be done by for the delivery the following morning, and the person on chat was not helpful and just kept saying I needed to contact the u-box department by 7:00. Which I couldn't! Fortunately - the delivery driver was able to work with his manager for us to keep the trailer for 4 - 7 days and he ended up helping unload the last one. He was extremely professional and helpful and we could not have made this awful situation turn out well without him. No help at all from U-haul. I thought we were getting a good deal and happy to use U-haul because it is a name that we have known for years. We just retired from the military and our experience will definitely be shared with other military friends that are either moving themselves during active duty or after they separate from the military and need to move themselves. If this had happened to a family that was tighter on their budget than us and/or had work schedules and/or kids schedules to work around, this would have been a nightmare that may not have been able to be resolved by an amazing delivery driver.
Debbie PalmerWhen I picked up cargo van the "side door ajar" light wouldn't go off--attendant Dave said it was just a faulty sensor, no big deal. I asked if everything else was checked and van in good condition because I was driving it alone and he stated everything was good to go. Well it wasn't. The side door sensor light kept going on and off making beeping sound the whole way back (400 + miles)....not a big deal. Two hours into my 8 hour drive back the front left tire sensor came on. I'm a senior citizen female and struggled to check and fill the tire so I called Uhaul # for help. They said they don't help with tire pressure and then I was disconnected....she had my number but never called back. Thankfully, 2 kind gentlemen helped me....ALL 4 TIRES were SUPER LOW and needed air. The manual said do NOT drive with low tires in this van as a flat while driving can be extremely dangerous, etc. It took hour and a half to take care of this. I called Dave Monday morning and told him what happened and that he clearly didn't check out the whole van like he said he did because all the tires were low and how dangerous to get a flat in this van...he wasn't the sweet, friendly man that helped me when I picked up the van. He never apologized and seemed very annoyed with me and then said, "so what do you want from me?" I was surprised by his response. Bottom line it was very dangerous and inconsiderate to rent a cargo van that wasn't professionally checked out to make sure it was safe to drive, especially to an older lady. I never write reviews, but felt it was important to write this one because of what could have happened if I had a flat in a totally loaded cargo van. Wherever you rent a truck or van make sure it's been thoroughly checked out for safety. I've rented Uhaul trucks many times before, but never had any issues like this.

Greg CruceNot once has the phone been answered or call returned. I have attempted this 5+ times over a 4 day period! I left VITAL electrical cords in truck and need it for my mom to get out of her bed! I requested an in-person check and was not notified of change. I also booked the Rim Rock location which was closer, so having this extra mileage and gas cost is insult to injury.

Debra SpaldingWe seriously hesitate to rent from U-Haul in the future or to recommend you to anyone, because of your pricing games. You apparently calculate how to maximize the amount of money you extract from your customers. The people who work for you are all fine and the locations are fine, it is the corrupt upper management that is going to ruin your company. Pricing games -- raising and lowering prices according to what you can get away with in any particular market instead of having stable, fair, predictable pricing -- will lose you many customers. We will advise our friends to sell most of their household goods and/or rent from a different company (one that is not colluding with you as we know some are). You may maximize your profits in the short term, but you will fail be replaced in the long run. Your company has become predatory and exploitative.

KYLE MCNEILLYI have two complaints. One, I was told over the phone by the uhaul representative while making my reservation that I could pick up the truck at one of three locations in COTTONWOOD. She informed me that a scheduler would call me back. I got a call from scheduling and was told that the only place I could get the truck was in CAMP VERDE which is 16 miles away. I’m paying for mileage and the mileage increased approximately 32 extra miles. Therefore my price for mileage was an extra $35 or so. Very disappointed with this situation. I will not be interested in renting from uhaul in the future especially if I have to deal with the rude representative at Temp storage whom I was trying to explain my situation to, and was told by him “that’s not my problem”. Maybe the appropriate way of handling that situation would have been to direct me to the correct place to file my complaint.
