Your requirement for additional references in order to rent a piece of equipment - especially an open trailer - is ridiculous. The gall that U-Haul has to request my passport as a second form of ID is preposterous at best. Not only did I have to provide two separate names and phone numbers as references, the gentleman at the counter had to speak with each of those references on the phone to verify that they knew I was renting a trailer. The fact that U-Haul seems all of its customers to be potential thieves and/or terrorists is an insult to anyone who needs to use equipment you offer on a short term basis. The website did not inform me of these idiotic requirements when I set the reservation and additionally your system got the information wrong when it processed the order which further delayed my renting of the equipment. Finally, the last requirement was that I must download the U-Haul app on my phone to return the equipment or face another $20 convenience fee is yet another way for you to hit my device with cookies and other tracking in order to harass myself and my contacts in the future. Though the man at the counter for both the pickup and the drop locations were nothing short of professional about these issues and they should be paid a higher amount in fees to handle your garbage way of doing rentals, I will never rent equipment from your organization again. I would rather pay more for a private rental than go through all of the crap that you make a renter go through to use your poorly maintained equipment.

You app is terrible. All instructions were to use the app for the off-hours return. No-where on the app could I find anything about doing the return. I called the 1-800 number and it said someone would be with me in over an hour. So I tried the chat, It said someone would be with me in < 1 min. 5 minutes later it asked what it could help me with. I asked about returning via the app and it said just go to u-haul.com/returns. Then it was easy. But it took me more than 45 minutes just to drop the van off because the instructions for after hours were so incorrect in all of the paperwork.

After all the complications with our rental, the auto transport trailer had ZERO trailer lights aside from the brakes. We were forced to drive over 900 miles in the dark without proper lights and unaware they weren't operating properly until the very end of our trip. The cab of the truck was filthy, had not been cleaned, previous drivers trash crammed under and beneath seats. The inside of the windshield was disgusting and we could barely see out the passenger side due to what appeared to be dog nose smears everywhere. I personally cleaned up the cab, removed trash, wiped down the seats and sah, etc. This was THE WORST Uhaul experience I've had and I've rented multiple times in the past.

I had a hard time with the mobile app and had to log in using the uhaul website. Once I did that the process was easy. Your instructions say that you need the mobile app in order to take care of this. I would say I wasted about 20 minutes using the app. I had to call customer service, who was very pleasant and solve my problem. Immediately bottom line you should not push the mobile app if it doesn’t work it’s very frustrating. We almost left.

There was a problem with trailer clearance lights. The manager came out fixed the problem. He went above and beyond.

Allow an option to pick the trailer in regards to a ramp door or barn style. Also make sure to have trailer security locks available to rent or buy.

Trailer was great. Driveway can only get into it from one direction with trailer on but would be difficult to get a different angle of approach to it.

I would like to point out that the first location, where I rented the truck, the lady was not there, it was dirty, and the truck I ordered was not even there……this is the only reason I had to call Uhaul and go to another location after wasting 30 minutes of my time and then driving to another location to get my truck. Very frustrating
