DEMETRIUS KWe drove the truck into the equipment return bay a day before we had to drop it off (May 1) where two employees were waiting. Both seemed very amiable and asked us a few simple questions about the truck, where we came from, if the truck drove well etc. We told them the truck was fine except we had a small windshield crack that happened a day prior which we had already reported to uhaul roadside assistance. We explained that uhaul roadside assistance did not give us good information about how to deal with the windshield crack and only after we took the truck to an auto glass shop ourselves did we learn that it was still safe to continue driving. The two employees at the drop off location nodded and asked us if we had insurance. We explained we had paid for insurance on the truck and this was covered under it. Once we said that one of the employees told the other to cancel the check in and he began taking a few pictures of the windshield crack as well as the odometer. We asked if we had to do anything else (including self check in) and the two employees told us they would take care of the check in process and that we were good to leave. We left and thought the process had been completed however the next day (May 2) we got an automatic text 45 minutes before our scheduled drop off time at 3pm asking if we were ready to drop our truck off, this confused us because we had dropped the truck the previous day and were told the check in process was done. We proceeded to call Uhaul headquarters and the employee we talked to said they called the location and told them to process the return and if we got charged we could call back to dispute it. Nothing happened in our uhaul account so we called again and another headquarters employee said "we won't be charged and not too worry and that they would process it before 3pm" even though it was 2:50pm when we spoke to this employee. This was concerning because we were given conflicting information twice now and we didn't want to be charged a no return on a full sized box truck and when we checked half an hour later, the truck was still pending in our account as not returned. By 5pm the truck was still considered not returned so we physically went to the drop off location again and spoke with the two employees who originally took the truck from us. They said we wouldn't be charged and it was an error on uhauls end that they couldn't process the return until the damage report was filed. We were confused because a whole day had passed and we had no confirmation from either end that this was happening, it seemed like they didn't want to report it or that no one was actually completing our truck return. They were apologetic and said they would try to process the return again in front of us and when they did, it worked fine, we asked for a physical receipt as well as an e-receipt and finally the truck was off our uhaul account. All 3 employees (including the woman working the desk) were apologetic but we found it very concerning that we had to physically go to the location for this to be completed, especially considering what a large vehicle we were returning. Not having confirmation or even a proper explanation of what was happening left us feeling like we were being taken advantage of. Customer service wise we felt very unhelped and that we had to take it into our own hands to ensure this was done. Poor rating due to concerning behaviour from many sides of uhaul 's customer care on such a long journey for us, equipment wise we were fine, employee care created lack of trust in uhaul.

RANDALL JI was disappointed that my reservation for a Savannah Van wasn't honored initially, as I was given a box truck instead. While the staff did eventually swap it for the van I requested, I noticed a significant price difference on the invoice during the process—the box truck was much more expensive. This experience felt like an attempted upcharge for a mistake I didn't make, and it has made me reconsider renting from U-Haul in the future.
VINCE RThe truck was right on Empty when I picked it up. When people are moving , they have people waiting and want to get going. To have a truck on E (second time in a row at this location) is inexcusable and insulting to your customers, who have to go fill up before getting their day going. Despite checking in online ahead of time your app then made me check in again when I got to U-Haul - a waste of my time. And the app didn’t even work, wouldn’t allow pics of the truck to be uploaded so I just gave up Service is painfully slow at this branch to top it off - friendly but glacial. I can’t recommend it to anyone who might ask.
STEVEN TLet customers know you he rules properly, I was asked to put petrol and come when I was a little below a bar , they said otherwise 30$ they will charge , so i drove out again and put for 35$ petrol and came back and they said they have a policy that if we put more petrol they can’t adjust it with my refund . All though they finally gave me 10 bucks , it wasn’t the right thing, I could have been better adviced so that I wouldn’t fill 20 bucks more than required .

Stanislav HWhen the truck was given to me the fuel gauge was reading just under half. On my way back I stopped and put gas in and the meter was just under half. But they've charged me an additional $26 for fuel stating that the tank wasn't filled up to halfway. Admittedly and frustratingly that was the one item I didn't take a picture of. I guess live and learn but these business models always feel like a scam.

CHRISTOPHER HIn spite of being busy, the agent was calm and curteous. Calling in is really not an option if you are going to keep a customer in hold for 2 mins. Maybe the attendants in the yard can help taking calls with remote connections to their cels
MAZEED Athe drop off after hours is a complicated process. I was asked to leave the vehicle under a canopy but not block anyone else - it was a 15' canopy and the truck was 26' also there was another vehicle under the canopy already - recommend extending the drop of area and canopy area
RICHARD GThe brakes were very. Dodgy and squeaky. So squeaky that vehicles next to us told us the get the brakes looked at as soon as we got back. More weight more squeaks!!

Timothy SI like the equipment but one of the customer representative was highly unprofessional and repulsive. She did not want to rent out the trailer to me having successfully booked and provided my credit card. The manager had to intervene and help to rent the trailer out to me. I specially thank the manager but regret to have interacted with the front desk attendant (agent) who initially attended to me at the Port Moody, Burnet Highway, Coquitlam, Canada today. I rent Uhaul pieces of equipment regularly and return them ontime and in excellent conditions but the front desk attendant should be re-trained and warned. Thank you.

KYRYLO LI wasn’t to happy about the truck coming on an empty tank even though there was a discount to account for it. The hassle of having to go put gas in right away added another stop and worry to our morning. Either that that everything else was perfect.
Patricio O- The interior of the truck (seats ) were dirty and not cleaned. Had to vacuum it myself. - insurance papers were expired. Good thing that I checked and not assume they are in good standing.
Karim DCommunication was poor. I rented a truck at 12pm on Friday. No return time was specified upon pickup and I have previously been told over the phone that I could keep it up to 24h. The next morning, UHaul called asking why the truck had not been returned at 8pm last night. When we went to return the vehicle, we were told to wait while someone came to help us who was busy at the moment. We waited inside, in view of the customer service person, for at least 10 minutes before asking again if someone was coming to help us. She then told us we had to wait at our truck, which we had parked with the other trucks. We went outside and waited there for a few more minutes. When no one came, we asked again and only then did the rep clarify that we were supposed to bring the vehicle to a specific returns area. Wasted about 20 minutes of our time.
Carolyn NWhen I arrived to do my return there were no staff present. When the return was done I found I had been charged for a second day. The delay was caused by no staff to serve not me. A credit for the second day will be appreciated.

Mehdi MWe rent a cargo trailer for the past 6 years and today we were told our hitch was no longer sufficient. Their policies have changed. It would have been good to know this information before arriving. We had to rent a hitch from the U-Haul office to get ourselves on our way. I didn't find any information on the website about this. We used the same truck and hitch for years. Just a heads up. We would have brought a different hitch.
ANNE SThere was a lot of confusion when I was trying to get everything set up because apparently the system was down, but then one guy said there was a backup POS that could be used, but the lady helping me didn't know about it etc etc. Maybe some extra training in there could help.
CASEY PRented trailer- hooked it up and couldn't get lights working. Hooked up 2nd trailer - still no lights. Finally got 3rd trailer lights on. Are they not supposed to be checking and recertifying equipment between rentals?

Scott GWhen a car trailer is booked do not give them a toy hauler instead. The toy hauler was a downgrade from a car hauler due to the fact that i had to go and spend $100 on 10,000 lb straps to tie down my wifes car. Other than that i had no bad experience with uhaul.
GEORGE DPlease , please check your vehicles before sending them out. There seems to a disconnect between the store and roadside assistance. The staff was not helpful at all. This is our second year renting from U-haul and second time with major problems. I wish I had space to write more.
Gentle SStaff was short, rude, and frustrating. There were six people in the main office, and one new person was trying to help me and the others didn’t offer to help her. They were also smoking outside the front entrance before and after. When asked for help, they were short and rude. The lot is confusing and not clearly labeled. It took 1.5 hours to return the truck. Is avoid returning here at all costs.

Alan LTruck’s steering/alignment not great. Online check in did not work and it took forever to get my truck on site. I was billed almost $200 despite my invoice only being $82.
BRUCE MThe Uhaul experience gotta love it, 2 hours prior to pick up a call comes in explaining the truck I reserved weeks in advance is not available but they will upgrade me to the biggest unit in their fleet at no charge. Its a $10 price difference, but I guess that saves them the $50 reservation guarantee. Despite explaining to the agent that the reason I choose a smaller truck because I was concerned that the bigger truck would not fit where I need to go I still ended up with the bigger truck. I had to take the truck from the rental location directly to the nearest gas station as there was not enough gas in it to even make it to my first stop. According to the agent at the location they don't run out and gas up the trucks so it all depends on how the previous renter left it. Turns out I am a better driver than I give my self credit for, despite having to back out of several alleys because I was not able to make the corners I finely managed to find a way in and out to my drop off location with barely a couple of inches to spare. Nobody could believe I got the truck in and when It was time to go they all had their cameras out videoing me inching the truck out. The next day when I was reviewing the bill I see I was charged $175 for gas even though I had returned the truck with significantly more gas in it then when they released it to me. Good thing I had pictures of the gas gauge and odometer before and after. So I had to call and get that corrected, remember above when I stated that Uhaul doesn't go out and fill up the trucks, I asked then why I was being charged $175 for gas. This happened to me the last time I rented with them also, I had to call and explain how they had overcharged me. And the $50 reservation guarantee I have to contact head office about that it has nothing to do with the local agent. Oh well all part of the Uhaul experience.
Austin BStaff and location were great! You had to switch my truck to a 10', and we weren't able to move all the stuff we were planning to. Check-in was also confusing because the alternate contact # would not do through because I think it was already an alternate number on my account?? This caused additional problems when trying to rent a storage space at the Marine Drive location. The equipment itself and the staff were wonderful, though!
Roy SGirls in the office were very busy but accommodating multiple customers at the same time. Was very impressed. Maybe 1 more person would be my recommendation. Line up was 6 deep. But they were great.

Robert mInformation not correct. Overcharge for the rental. Luckily I had taken a photo of odometer before leaving the facility. Driving 300km for 3 hr means I was driving on highway for at least 100km/hr non stop for 3 hours. Doesn’t make sense at all. Will see how things are resolved. Waiting for the location manager to respond.

There is no signage or paint to tell people not to leave return vehicles in the way of the storage access and even if there was the place is so full there is no where for them to be left. If I wanted to access my unit before employee hours there is a strong chance it would be blocked by new returns. This was absolutely unacceptable and a terrible experience. The entrance is shared with a car dealership who double parks and the uhaul triple parks on their side making it an absolute nightmare. 0/10 would never recommend.

Seemed like we were caught in a dispute between Honda and U-Haul on who owned the access road. There were times we could not get a vehicle to the building. There were times the access road was totally blocked. We spoke to a manager(s) on a number of occasions. Apologies but no change made. Trucks parked every where. Finally had enough. We had rented for many years but couldn’t deal with the lack of access to the building. Would have stayed but found a different location for our storage. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone until access issues are fixed.

My unit was the worst hit. When I paid for unit I was never told of this incident or asked if I wanted to purchase insurance. I also recently received a notice advising the price of the unit is going up. Now we wait they said I can only choose to get refunded or go through claims. That is so wrong I should get refunded and also be able to submit claim for items damaged.

There were often uboxes being stored in the loading bay and the neighbouring business block the road most days. On more than one occasion staff from the business next door were in their car, parked in the storage loading bay having lunch.

maryellen t | Overall ExperienceI was very upset when i had originally reserved the storage as i was moving down from north vancouver island 8 hours away and had reserved the storage at the smae time as the truck weeks before. When i finally got to the storage facility i was told my storage reservation was taken by another customer. I was confused because i had RESERVED it and then after driving 8 hours and nowhere else to take my things i was told it was first come first serve. So i dont understand what the point of reserving was. They originally were going to let me just walk away with nothing i had to ASK if there were other units available. Which there were but not the size i reserved so i needed to get a bigger one at a more expensive rate. THEN they were not going to honor my first free month from my original RESERVATION because i was taking a different unit. Eventually everything got sorted but was a hugely unnecessary added stress to my move. I did reccommend my friend NOT to choose uhaul for their storage and moving needs because i did not want them to go through the same thing i did. They chose a different company and it went smooth with zero issues. Unfortunate.

None of them could help me and said they would find out and get back to me by the end of the day. None of them called me back. I then emailed the GM of the uhaul about the matter. That took 3+ emails to get a reply. At which after being a customer for 3+ years, I wasn't allowed to have a prorated amount for 7 additional days for the storage. It was just a "sorry, that is policy" without thinking about the customer. After all this, I even saw a uhaul rental hit an employees vehicle and let them know about it. Not looking for the world, just a little help.

Upon arriving atthe uhaul storange unit to offload everything i was told my reserved unit was gone because it was taken by another customer. I did not understand as I had reserved the unit for the day i arrived and the was told it was first come first serve. I have never in my life heard of a reservation being first come first serve. I was very upset and they offered a bigger, more expensive unit because all the units of size i had reserved were gone. Then they said i would not get my first month free because it was not my original reservation. I did eventually get them to do it but it was alot of unnecessary added stress to an already long stressful day of moving and driving.

I do not remember her name at this moment, but is a blond short hair lady and she was always smiling, new the system and process very well, and provided very quick help when and I needed, and every time we cross paths in the storage area she was saying good day! Unfortunately due some changes in my finance, needed to close my two accounts, but if I needed again, will go this U-haul location and hope she is there to provide the same exceptional service.

Sina H | Online Move InThe storage facility was at the far back when I requested one that I could drive up to, and when I sent my driver there he was told I didn't have a storage locker there , so that created unnecessary stress . Then I called about getting some guys to load and unload and these guys subcontract for uhaul . They are not professional. They didn't seem to know how to load and pack properly. Constantly checking their watch , and they just got dropped off . So they had no car and my driver was upset that on a hot sunny day he had to share the front of the truck with 2 hot sweaty guys. No where did I agree to transport these guys .. they just assumed . That was rude and annoying . Because of their lack of knowledge it costed me 2 extra hrs , a lamp, and I needed to move the rest of my things to another storage locker , costings me anadded $400 for 2mths . They broke a very expensive hand painted lamp and just threw my stuff in the locker and piacked heavy things on top of breakable things. I'm very disappointed with the company that uhaul supplied me with for loading and loading . Never again !

I has a friend driving the truck so his time was valuable as I was paying him he got there and was told there was no storage available ...that was awful and very upsetting. He then drove to sentinel storage which was closed for lunch then he called me to ask where I'd like him to go .I also had hired moving helpers thru uhaul via select movers. Also getting paid by the hour. I told him to go back to uhaul , I sent him reservation # ..and I had to stop what I was doing ..I had cleaners, plumbers, etc on my end . And only to be told I had to do something online. My internet was canceled, computer packed, my phone was in a dead zone area and I got very upset because all the info I gave 2 weeks prior was what he asked me for . I.m still upset. Then they gave them a locker on 2nd floor with stairs when I booked a ground floor . Just a gong show a whole hour wasted and costed me $ 200. Extra that made my experience with uhaul not good I'm still very angry. Then select moving sent 2 guys..not professional movers, I couldn't understand them . They didn't know how to pack well and then I needed a 3rd storage locker and after the horrible experience I ended up booking one at sentinel over the phone in 10min and done, but .also costed me another 200 plus these guys from select movers didn't pack the locker well either and the driver called me to say it might not all fit in here..these guys don't know what they are doing and move at a snails pace . Me and 2 girlfriends had to do a lot of work to help speed up the process and so we had to help them with packing tips and they didn't want to listen at my end but we got them to fit in more things they were just going to leave .I saw lots of wasted space , then thankgod my friend got in the locker and shuffled things around and it all fit ,I'm not impressed at all with moving company and the guys they sent out, they were more concerned about the time than working and costing me another 2 hrs of time and money plus extra locker

From beginning to end she was kind and helpful in making our storage needs a seamless experience. I would have rated 5 all the way except the last day the automatic exterior lights weren't working... it was the only time it happened and the staff was looking into the problem immediately. Additionally, access to the storage units from outside was tight a few times due to lots of parked cars and trucks but we managed regardless. Overall this was a great experience and I highly recommend uhaul storage.

This left very little space to maneuver a vehicle, load, unload, etc. Rental truck receiving area was often clogged with trucks coming in, completely blocking the storage unit access. I voiced my concern to two different managers, nothing was done. Access to the storage units was also restricted or blocked completely during a construction project on the Skytrain line (now completed), which made it extremely difficult to load/unload. No compensation, advance warning was provided, nor was there an apology forthcoming for the inconvenience . Waiting for counter service was very slow. Not uncommon to stand in line for 20+ minutes to speak with someone. Staff was friendly, many of the complaints were out of their control (except for the Manager).
