Sarah DOpen the store on time. Make sure all parts are in good working condition (trailer brakes did not function, driver side fender warped, tire stops bent). Was called two days after I returned trailer asking when I was bringing trailer back. Overall, miserable experience.

Steven BCharged me for gas the 3rd time when I filled it to the exact location it was before I even rented the vehicle. Expect an $8+ surcharge everytime you rent a truck here they love charging you for gas you didn’t use…

Carmen SEverything was great except that it cost almost $18 to fill the tank. It was $3 a gallon. That was 6 gallons I used for 4 miles or 1.5 miles per gallon. I did not sit in traffic nor did I idle the truck. When I mentioned it to the attendant, I was told the trucks take a lot of gas. The gas gauge was apparently broken as it stayed on half tank. I filled the tank until I got the shut off from the gas hose. I will certainly look at another company in the future. Fortunately, there are others available.

carbondale cWe have moved several times with trucks. This was our first time using the U-Box. We found the U-Box to be so much better, packing and unpacking on our schedule rather than the rental truck’s ticking time clock. The box was easy to pack to the ceiling so nothing shifted during transport. The only negative was the box will not hold a sofa greater than 95 inches.

Roger JHonestly soundly recommend uhaul to anyone. I would choose budget over uhaul all day. The fact that I chose mobile pickup should mean that I check in and do everything from my phone within a reasonable amount of time. It should take no more than 15 minutes. I shouldn’t have to provide information for other people to confirm. Absolutely ridiculous. I have no family/friends. You have my ID and where I live. If you don’t get the truck back contact the police to come to my address it’s that simple. It took over an hour to get checked in and the truck which was a lost hour on my reservation. I was told it would be adjusted but didn’t happen. Would not recommend and there was no help/assistance from the location. Not happy with the whole process of renting. I didn’t have these issues with a first time rental from budget.

Kimberly FFirst, my dissatisfaction isn't directed towards Uhaul employees but rather the company itself. It took me over THREE WEEKS just to reserve a simple vehicle with Uhaul. I called multiple locations that kept giving me the run around. But I'd still get bombarded with text messages from Uhaul about making a reservation. Uhaul wouldn't have to work so hard to get business if its various centers (privately owned?) simply treated customers professionally and offered competent help. Once I'd finally made a reservation, Uhaul kept pestering me about using their app--supposedly to save ME time allowing me to check-in at the lot instead of having to waste time in the store. But the app never worked. I tried entering my driver's license but the Uhaul app wouldn't accept it. So I had to go to the store to check in ANYWAY. Incidentally, when I called Uhaul corporate about this, the individual I spoke with confirmed my suspicion. The app isn't intended to save CONSUMERS time but rather for Uhaul's own corporate purposes. Caveat emptor. When I got to the store at 6:55AM (early so I wouldn't have to waste time...), there was already a party there talking to the sole (visible) employee! How could people be there making reservations already when the store advertised it opened at 7AM??? So there I stood listening to the sole English speaker in the group of three translating every sentence for the other two members of the group. This is what the app was supposed to help me avoid... I have to admit the employee was courteous to the party of three hounding him with question after question. After a long wait, I finally got to speak with the agent. I've been renting from Uhaul for more than 20 years all over the US with my same ID. But now I needed to give Uhaul the private telephone numbers of TWO of my contacts--none of whom had given me permission to do this in this age rife with ID fraud and companies selling our private data. Why? I'm quoting the employee: "In case you don't come back with MY truck, bud." Some professionalism, Uhaul. The behavior of these facilities that do business under YOUR NAME reflect on the Uhaul brand. Finally, I'm in the truck. Guess what. It won't start and there are a slew of warning lights on the dashboard, including a check engine light, the brake fluid warning light, the brake system warning light, and a warning that the "Pre Collision Assist" (which I bet Uhaul has calculated into its corporate rates and for which, therefore, we customers are paying) was malfunctioning. Are you kidding me? What is this? Rent-A-Wreck? What would have happened if I'd gotten on the highway and broken down while my expensive by-the-hour movers were waiting for me? I do appreciate Uhaul finally got me into another vehicle (rear door wouldn't securely close!!!), but the contrast between treating ME, a long-time (but no more!) customer, like a potential thief and UHAUL putting me in derelict vehicles was just too jarring. Our family won't rent from Uhaul again. Better to pay MUCH more to go with a reliable, professional, respectful company. Again, the problem wasn't so much the employee (individuals' perceptions of professionalism vary) but Uhaul's policies, the way they're executed, and the abysmal quality of some of their trucks we customers are entrusting our property and the safety of our family to.

I double checked this with the lady on the phone more than once to ensure because we have a couch that we HAVE to have first floor unit access in order to move it in. Our unit ended up being in the second floor and was a heated unit therefore we currently have no where to put our couch. I went to ask if there happened to be another unit available that we could switch to, and the guy didn’t even let me ask the question before telling us that there are no other units available and that our current unit not being what we were told was our problem. He was not the most pleasant person which was really upsetting and frustrating after we had just driven 18 hours to the Carbondale area to store our stuff for our move.
